Re: Consolidation of Power
The Lord Myatt was an aged man of 47, who was content with life. Present with him was his wife, a lady from one of the knightly families sworn to him. Lord Myatt looks upon Lord Crakehall as he is admitted in.
Good day, Lord Crakehall, welcome to my keep. May I ask what brings you to my abode?

Re: Consolidation of Power
"Lord Myatt! I have come to request that you consider allowing my son to be a suitor for your daughter's hand. While I understand Lord Lannister would need to endorse such a union, I would be grateful if you would give your blessing to such a union."

Re: Consolidation of Power
As much as I would want to give my blessing on the union, I must decline as my one daughter is already married off. I am sorry, Lord Crakehall.

Re: Consolidation of Power
Lord Swyft was a man of great age already, yet a stout and pudgy man he was. Lord Crakehall is permitted into his halls. He was drinking and eating heavily when Crakehall is shown in.
My Lord Crakehall, welcome to my keep. What brings you here?

"Your son, Lord Swyft. We have been neighbors for a very long time, and it is time there was a matrimonial union between our houses. Your son and my granddaughter, what do you say?"

Lord Swyft began to think for a moment before shaking his head quietly. Whereas other lords may have spat at the proposal, Swyft was more honorable in showing his disinterest.
Forgive me, Lord Crakehall, but I am not entirely interested in such a union.

Re: Consolidation of Power
Crakehall nodded sadly. "Very well, Lord Swyft. While I cannot profess anything but disappointment, I still have one offer to make.
I have created a knightly order, the Order of the Crimson Boar, and I am interested in recruiting the cream of the Southern Westerlands crop of knights. Bearing this in mind, I would like to offer your son - Ser Gyler - a high ranking position in this Order and thus a place in my court, until he should wish to return here."

Lord Swyft shakes his head once more, the thought of giving up his son and heir and sending him to an Order that he had no knowledge off made him unwilling.
As much as I would want to offer up my son to this knightly order, I fear that Ser Gyler is no knight fit for such an order.

Crakehall was disappointed again, but all was not lost. He made his way to the Castle of House Lorch and requested an audience.

Re: Consolidation of Power
Ser Lorch was a vassal of House Marbrand. The present Ser was a cruel, wrathful and authoritative man that few wanted to deal with him. Yet Crakehall came to visit and Lord Lorch permitted it.
Lord Crakehall, it is a surprise to see you this far north from your den. What brings the Redtusk to the verge of my castle?

Re: Consolidation of Power
Ooc: Lorch isn't a vassal of Marbrand - he's in Cornfield which doesn't have a HL. He's Swyft's neighbor.
Lorch was a distinctly unliked individual, but he was vital to Crakehall's ppans and thus Roland overcame the dislike. "Well, Ser Lorch, I think it would benefit both our houses greatly for your son to marry my granddaughter. We would be in a position to advance each other greatly as neighbors, with myself in Crakehall and you ruling lands in Cornfield."

Ser Lorch looks quietly at Lord Crakehall. As the silence falls, his expression appears to show disinterest, as Lorch saw no real advantage to having such a union.
I do not see any good reason other than you saying we are neighbors that makes me willing to accept this proposal, Lord Crakehall. We Lorchs can handle ourselves well enough.
OOC: You can try to convince him the advantages of the marriage or go to your second proposal.

Re: Consolidation of Power
"I suppose you can. You must be adept at handling yourselves in a region without an overlord. I've always found it interesting that such and important location as Cornfield could go without a High Lord for so many years.
No matter. You should accept my proposal for a few reasons, the first and foremost of them is the fact that Ser Jaime Lannister squired in my castle. I have influence in the court of Ser Tywin who is - as you probably know - the true Lord of the Westerlands. I have influence and you are a Minor Lord - a Minor Lord in a region where there is yet to be a High Lord. I think you can understand what I'm suggesting - who better to rule Cornfield?"

Re: Consolidation of Power
Lorch seems unmoved in the case presented. Everyone in the Westerlands knew that Kevan and Gerion ruled Westerlands where Tywin had been away from his home for a number of years as Aerys II's Lord Hand.
Tytos still rules as the Lord of the Westerlands, Lord Crakehall. And it has been Gerion and Kevan who have ruled these lands while Tywin was off being the Lord Hand. Ser Jaime may have been your squire, but he is no longer the heir to the Westerlands. I have heard of Tywin's return, but there is the question of who truly rules over the Westerlands. And there are four lions in question here.
Ser Lorch waves his hand dismissively to the argument presented.
Cornfield does not need a High Lord, for we are sworn directly to the Lord Paramount of the Westerlands. We have a High Lord and that is the Lord Paramount.
