House Florent of Brightwater Keep is a noble house from Brightwater Keep in the Reach, one of the main houses sworn to House Tyrell. Their sigil is a red-gold fox's head encircled by lapis lazuli flowers. Members of the House are known for their prominent ears.
According to legend, the Florents, the Balls, and the Peakes descend from the three husbands of Florys the Fox.
The Florents, like the Tyrells, claim descent from the extinct House Gardener, the defunct Kings of the Reach. The Florents have a superior line of descent, and believe that they by rights should possess Highgarden.

The Light of the Honeywine: Brightwater Keep sits at the top of the Honeywine River, the agricultural capital of the Reach, and thus could easily stock its larders to near-bursting in times of a siege giving the fortress an additional 6 months holdout time.

The rider would be closely inspected and stripped of all weapons before being brought to the great hall of the Brightwater Keep. There sat Lord Alester in his throne.
'No sigil and wearing all black. Are you a member of the Night's Watch, warrior? If so you shall be put to the sword for deserting.', Lord Alester said.
The rider cocked his head seriously. "I am not a member of the Night's Watch. I am, however, here with something that will interest you greatly."
The rider produces a letter and hands it to a guard - to be given to Lord Alester.

Stand with the Rebels, Lord Florent, stand with us and take the position that is rightfully yours.
Lord Alester takes the letter and unfolds it. While reading the content his face takes a gaunt appearance. After reading, he gives the letter to a guard on his right to toss into the fire. As he watches the letter burn, he stands up and approaches the messenger.
'Who is lord Roland Crakehall to lecture ME on what is rightfully mine?!', Alester shouted into the messenger's face. Attempting to calm himself down, he turns around and walks away a few steps. 'He requests treason of me, claiming I would surely be rewarded. Tell me, in whose name does lord Roland speak? I hardly doubt the lord of Crakehall is strong enough to give me Highgarden when there are a dozen other Reach houses that would look forward to taking a sword to my back. I hardly doubt the lord of Crakehall is strong enough to influence the king, whoever he might be after Aerys dies, if Aerys dies. Tell me, does lord Crakehall have anything but promises?', Lord Florent said once calm again.
The messenger was non-pulsed, giving a facetious smile and replying easily. "Well, he has given you the only chance you will probably have in your lifetime. He has thrashed the Reach army. You have a chance. Find yourself the men and Highgarden is yours.
Or the other alternative is to stab Tyrell in the back, claim the Lord Paramount ship and take hostages to secure your rule. Nonetheless, the Lord of Crakehall has already done half of your task. The Reach is losing."
'Trashed the Reach army?', Lord Alester Florent chuckled. 'Yes, word has reached me of the defeat of a portion of our army and even that portion was not seriously defeated. To say trashed would be an overstatement.', he finished.
'Tell me, how many men could Lord Crakehall bring to the Reach? I imagine both him and I could benefit from this if we unite our strength. He would be the warlord that brought the Reach to it's knees and I would be the new lord paramount, that is, if we are successful.'
A malicious gleam appeared in the messenger's eye. "And yet the whole North of the Reach burns like the fires of the Seven Hells. There is no Reach army to stop us here."
The messenger cocked his head for a second. "He can muster near 20'000 men."
'Tell Lord Crakehall that King Aerys the Second has lost my allegiance. However, I will not come out as a rebel yet.', Alester said before stroking his beard.
'I will strike when the time is right. Tell lord Crakehall I will sent him either a letter or messenger when that time comes.' With that the messenger would be dismissed from the halls of Brightwater Keep unless he had something further to say.
