Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
There was a lone fellow conspirator within the city and that was Stafford Lannister, Lord Commander of the City Watch. When word came of Kevan's arrival, members of the City Watch under Stafford's influence, would escort Kevan through the streets to the Lord Commander's office. Once inside, Stafford would greet Kevan and welcome him to a seat, offering some wine from the Arbor that he managed to 'gain' from a passing merchant. Stafford sits down himself, plopping into his comfortable chair.
Well well, Kevan, been a long time since I last saw you. What brings you from the Rock?

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
Kevan seemed agitated and said through clenched teeth "Tywin is back." He was visibly angry. "We must put our plans into action immediately, the longer I am displaced the more I lose any advantage I've had. He rmeoved me from the court abruptly, and nobody seemed to raise a finger. We must seize Lannisport now, and begin raising troops. We may yet catch Tywin by surprise."

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
Stafford displays a devious grin. He was no tactician, but he believed himself to be one.
Don't you worry about Lannisport, cousin. Much of the City Watch is under my control, save those small detachments that watch the docks...
Tybolt was a thorn in these plans and so was Gerold, but if Damon could be eliminated, the house of cards would surely crumble.
Once all is set, not only will Lannisport will be ours, but we will have a valuable hostage... the granddaughter of Lord Crakehall, Damion's pretty little wife.

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
"Good." Kevan replied. "And the city is strong, not easily taken. We can meet Tywin in the field or we can attempt a move to the Rock itself, place it under siege. We likely will not have the men to take it, but we need not take it. Tywin may lose support from within or perhaps he will be trapped before he can send for aid."
Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
Lannisport will surely be ours, cousin, you and Gerion need not worry about this little asset of ours.
Oh how foolish Stafford was, unaware that just as Damon's doom approached him, so did his own personal fate begin to lurk. Stafford believed himself to be a cunning man, who had many skills, when his main skills were bribery, brothels and drinking his days away. Even if it meant leaving his highborn wife, Lady Lefford, in the care of the more generous and able Gerold Lannister, his younger brother.
When the time is right, send a rider to the East Gate and tell the guards there simply "the Lion roars." I will know then my time is to act.

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
"I will, coz. For now I well set out and begin to muster fighting men. I have ruled long in these lands, surely some will heed my call to arms. And if they care not about my position, they will care about my coin." He said with a laugh
Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
It was near dawn when a rider wearing the sigil of House Lannister rode to the gatehouse. He dismounted and handed his reins off to a stableboy before walking to the guards on duty. "My lord of Lannister gives the following message: the lion roars."
Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
The guard nods to the rider, speaking a pre-arranged messaged from Stafford.
Let your masters know that towards dusk, Lannisport will be under my Lord Stafford's control.
Word passed from mouth to mouth from that point, all the way to the Lord Commander's office within Lannisport. When the three words are spoken to him, he jumps to action, taking within him a score of a hundred members of the City Watch, the core of his corruption and those who would gladly follow him for fame, riches and women. All of these promises made by Stafford to be fulfilled once Lannisport was his. His grand plan was to finally go into motion, yet it was to become his greatest blunder, a fate worst than anything imagined awaited him, despite his supposed success. It was around the 6th bell, when dinner was usually held that Stafford entered the keep of his brother Damon, believing that all would be present for him.
Yet when he peaked through the door, he saw only Damon and Damion. His brother's grandchildren and son's wife were missing. Thinking quickly, he orders a group of his men to search for the Lady Crakehall for she was pivotal to his plans. Once the orders were made, a group of archers ascended to a balcony that overlooked the dinner area, using the shadows to hide their approach from above. Quietly below, father and son ate...
How is my grandson, Lucion, Damion? Will be a strong lad like Devan or a smart one like his uncle Gerold?
Damion laughs for a moment, pouring himself and his father some more wine.
He has the gentleness of his mother, yet the grip of his grandfathers. He will surely become a great warrior one day, father. Lion and Boar blood mix well it seems.
Damon chuckles heartily at the remark, toasting to his son quietly. As his cup was raised a twag was heard, followed by a thud. Damon felt his chest be pierced by a steel tip, making him cough up blood and wine suddenly. He slowly looks down to see the shaft and feathers of an arrow sticking out of his chest, just right above his heart. Damion drops his cup at the sight and moves quickly to his father. A series of twags were heard, piercing flesh, bone, and wood. Within seconds, Damion was seen crawling upon the floor to his father who laid dead within his chair. The young Damion coughs up blood, slowly reaching towards his father before his hand went limp, the loss of blood being too great to sustain his life.
Yet as the archers descended, a scream was heard from the far side of the chamber. The sight of Lady Shiera Crakehall was seen, for she had only left to check on her children, only to return to see her husband and father-in-law dead. Orders were made from the archers as they rushed up to take aim once more. Yet by the time they could, Shiera had vanished. A clanging bell rang from the keep, indicating an alarm, yet the alarm was mainly to summon to soldiers to find Lady Crakehall and Damon's grandchildren. Shiera, for her youth, had moved quickly enough to avoid a gruesome fate for that of herself and her children, rushing out of a passage way that her husband and her used to sneak out once in awhile. Through this passage, she rushed for the dockyards, knowing that her only sanctuary rested there...
Within the keep, Stafford was furious to learn that their one asset they needed was gone and vanished. The furious Lannister ordered that his soldiers search high and low throughout the castle, unaware of the passages and secrets it held. In his blundering move, he had only achieved the essence of his intended plans and not the full intentions. For even as he sought for Lady Crakehall, his plans began to unravel before his very eyes...

Gerion Lannister
Gerion Lannister arrived in Lannisport at the head of a column of men. The young man’s golden curls lapped against his shoulders and his emerald green eyes danced around the port. He snatched an apple from a cart and bit into it. He looked marvelous sitting astride his destrier, his armor gleaming. At last he arrived outside the quarters of his brother Kevan after the men had been sent to the barracks. Kevan soon joined him.
“Well Gerion, this is it.” He said gloomily. “The time of battle approaches. I only wish that Tygett had not chosen to stay with our brother.”
Gerion nodded. “Quite a regrettable circumstance, but it changes nothing. We must kill Tywin.” Gerion handed off his reins to his young squire, the last surviving member of the family Reyne.
“Yes, I have not strayed from the course, do not worry.” Kevan replied. “Come, we must meet with cousin Stafford.” The pair departed to meet with their brother-in-law and fellow conspirator.

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
The situation at the Lannisport keep was not at all calm, but still somewhat chaotic. The Lady Crakehall and Damon's grandchildren had yet to be found, worst yet, Tybolt and Gerold had not shown their faces. Stafford thought they would have pledged their loyalty, but surely Shiera got to them first and spoke of lies to their faces, hoping to incite them to rebellion. Whatever the case, a guard came in to tell the Lord Commander that Gerion and Kevan had arrived with a force of troops. He gulps slightly before nodding to the guard to let them in. He rises from his seat.
Cousins Kevan and Gerion. I thought you two would be marching against the Tywin by now.
======================
The night before...
Shiera ran and ran and ran.. passing through alleyways and streets, trying to get as far away from the keep as possible. Her destination; the one person she could trust.
A City Watch guard opens the door to the headquarters belonging to Tybolt Lannister who oversaw the dockyards alongside his brother, Gerold. The two were dining tonight in the City Watch's building that overlooked the harbor. A guard walks in to tell them they had a visitor, but Shiera spoke for herself as she burst in, carrying the two men's niece and nephew within a bundle. Tybolt gets up as Gerold looks at Shiera. Tybolt helps take Lucion from his mother, doing what he could to sooth the crying infant.
Shiera? Whats going on? You look in dire straits-...
She fell upon her knees, holding her infant daughter as she cried uncontrollably. After a few minutes, she spoke to them of the truth.
Stafford... he is the devil. Stafford killed them... Stafford killed Damon and Damion!
Silence fell upon the room as Gerold and Tybolt look at Shiera. Gerold would calmly sit back down, feeling the gravity of the words fall upon him. Tybolt looks outside a window at the keep of Lannisport.
No... it can't be... Stafford... why?

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
"We will soon give battle to our arrogant brother." Gerion said with a smile
"But I must inquire how many men you will contribute to the effort." Kevan continued. Clearly he would need to manage the logistical side of things. Gerion was confident in victory, but he did not give enough thought to the planning. "Tywin is an able commander, we will need to muster all the troops we can to deal with him quickly."

Stafford adjusts his collar slightly knowing the word would eventually get out.
"There is just one problem... as much as I have influence over the City Watch, only a core group of them accepted what I did and knew what I did to gain control of Lannisport."
He then lowers his voice for the two hear alone.
"Lady Crakehall has escaped with Damion's children. And neither Tybolt nor Gerold have come forth. I fear they may have fled the city by now to parts unknown for certain."

Kevan cursed under his breath. "Seven hells!" He took a moment to compose himself. Gerion remained aloof of the exact implications. "So we have lost Crakehall. What of the Leffords?" he inquired

"My wife, Lady Lefford, is not aware of our plans. I posted guards outside our home and they have reported nothing there... I have gotten no reports of ships moving either, which are under the control of Gerold."
Stafford looks outside at the docks for a moment.
"I will see if I can move for the docks. Take with me my hundred men and determine if Tybolt and Gerold are still in the city."

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
Some days after the coup had been launched, and with houses of the Westerlands declaring their support, vocally though not yet militarily, for one side or the other, Donnel Lefford arrived at Lannisport. He was dressed as an average sellsword, with a mid-quality suit of chainmail and hardened leather armour, a plain arming sword and round shield combination, and a dagger hidden within his boot. He didn't expect that to remain hidden if he were searched, but concealed weapons were standard fair for the sellsword type. A kettle helm and chainmail coif completed the look and, coupled with the facial hair he'd allowed to grow freely while on the road, served to obscure his face.
He surveyed the Lannisport walls from his position in the distance, having just come into view of the city as he crested a small hill on the Gold Road. He had followed the River Road from Goldentooth and then cut cross-country to the south, reaching the Gold Road and following that towards Lannisport itself.
[OOC: Donnel is looking to enter Lannisport as a sellsword, expecting that he'll be one of many looking for work in the coming civil war. I stopped short of having him attempt to enter the city because he wouldn't very well walk up to doors that are barred shut, but Lannisport I assume continues to act as a functioning city at this stage? No one has besieged it and no battles have happened yet.]

Re: Lannisport, Seat of House Lannister (Cousin Branch)
Given that Kevan was actively recruiting, it seems unlikely someone couldn't sneak into the city under that pretense. 19/20 chance of success for infiltrating the city. Rolled a 4, so clandestine infiltration is successful.
