The Hippeis Agematos would be persian nobles then tasked with protecting the king, right?
Correct, Agema were recruited from Iranian nobility, it was first started by Alexander and later Seleucids continued this tradition. I guess they did that to buy support of noble houses while actually not giving them much since unit was small and not much more was done from military point of view. Alexander also used Iranian nobles for phalanx but as soon as he died, they got disbanded, leaving only Agema for Iranians. For their regular cataphracts it is also not clear if they were actually Greeks, they might have been mixed or even only Iranian.

Another thing I've been thinking about for a while is Army/Fleet experience. In all the years of playing, I've never ever seen either even close to reaching max. level, with 6 or maybe 7 being the absolute highest. Is this something you guys have on your radar/ would be willing to look into for a change or even rework?

Is there a way to eliminate the percentage cauasualties in auto solve battles? Because if I see that a victory will be confirmed and the exact % of deaths than that takes away the inspiration to manually fight the battle, it eliminates the mystery of the outcome. Med 2, Attila and Warhammer has this,

Are Judean slingers meant to have 29 armour penetration? As much as I love seeing Seleucid cataphracts melt away before reaching my front lines, it still seems suspicious to me (most other missile units range from 6-10). Scythian archers and heavy archers also have extraordinarily high AP compared to other archers.

If you're talking about 'weapon damage' in the unit ui stats, then that denotes their melee damage. Sling ap damage ranges between 9-12, which is a bit higher than bows, but those have higher ranged normal damage and range.

Ranged weapons are not showing their damage in separate rows, you have to hover your mosue over missile damage to see whow much is base and how much is AP damage.

For melee weapons that stat is displayed in two lines, hence why often people think it refers to ranged damage for some reason.

Well I'll be damned, I didn't realise that. I just saw their excellent anti-armour performance in battle and intuitively connected it to the 29 AP damage stat.

I still wonder why this particular unit is so good against armour in close combat, but that's a minor concern then.

Because they most likely use axes or maces, which have good AP damage but overall lower defence and attack.

Hello, i saw that the etruscan hoplites in rise of the republic have the scutum, but i dont understand why because they fought like greek hoplites, it's possible to fix this with hoplon for etruscan hoplites?

edit: i saw the same problem in grand campaign and in hannibal at the gates

    Hello there,
he factions south of Egypt have Persian/Eastern settlements when you fight them on the battlemap . I think it would be fitting to give them egyptian ones ( if that's even possible to mod). Although not entirely realistic either, I think it would still make more sense than eastern settlements.

If a hoplite is in phalanx mode, when I click on an enemy unit do they charge and get the charge bonus as they close the gap?

No, phalanx ability does not allow to use charge.

Hi. Forgive me if this question has been issued before (a forum search was unsuccessful).

Why do Makedon garrison are mostly greek hoplites instead of some kind of makedon phalangitai? Is it because garrisons are unmoddable and linked to faction culture?

    Thanks in advance.

Shield values go under the melee defense stat, and can be viewed when mouseovering the melee defense stat. Does shield value provide any defense against missile damage? Or is missile damage purely countered by armor values? Is there an extensive guide somewhere as to stats and how those stats interact?

Shields provide both melee defence and missile defence but that stats for some reason does not work properly. Pretty much it is based on how big shield is so for example wicker tower shield gives small melee defence bonus but big missile defence bonus while some sturdy round shields give good melee defence bonus but smaller missile protection. Only way to view these is to go into shield_tables in mod files.

I’m not sure if this has already been pointed out, but a few units draw from weird populations. From my recent campaigns are the Medewi two handed axemen drawing from the 3rd population class (this just seems a bit strange, it doesn’t really hurt gameplay) and the Libyan hoplites which draw from the level 2 population class (Libyan-Phoenicians). In the case of the Libyan hoplites, their population class is not only the wrong ethnic group, but it also makes them a lot less useful.

Not necessarily DeI related but do you guys know what these settings options do and should they be checked/unchecked?

Basically it allows you to run mods that bypass the mod manager. Movie type packs are usually graphics mods that load even if they aren't activated in the manager. User script mods are ones that are put in a text file and will load without the manager also.
