Thread: [Feedback] Questions, Critiques and Requests

[Question] Is it a good idea to give my phalanx over to the AI via the attacker AI grouping? They seem to work well enough if left alone, especially if I win the flank battles which takes up most of my micro what with all the maneuvering. I tried the AI Grouping with horse archers before and they do work, but of all the things that could kill them the phalanx is the most unexpected since the skirmish option doesn't seem to react to them as if they were only attacking in range. I'm currently playing Qritani so I can't test it yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it might not work too well since the ai refuses to engage in a coherent battleline so they'll probably present their flanks to an enemy unit or two. But if that's not the case then it'll be super useful! I wish Reform the Line could be automated.

Sorry,I tried to begin a campaign in "Empire Divided" with Palmyra and it seems to me that the unit balancing is not finished. Some AOR Egyptian units and mercenaries make short work of Palmyrian legionaries...and there are no wonders. Can I expect a rework of Empire Divided unit stats? It seems to me that there is something more than just armor values in question here.

Thanks for your work. I just finished a great campaign with Pontus, maybe the best faction in the game.

Dear Sirs, I am writing through a translator.
Could you please tell me in which table it is written how many minimum moves the bot will siege the walls before storming.
I need to make a minimum of 3 moves WAITING, before storming.
    ... Thank you.

    Heya;

It's good to see, what has become of the mod. According my achievements, the last time I played was Bactria 3 years ago.
I think the spice-route stuff and such was already in place, but I noticed in my current campaign (This is SPARTA! 3rd try...so far, so good) some major improvements on the culture/monuments-thingies.

I like how they are depicted and fit into the game and having them is crazy!

Already mentioned the overhauled naval-combat in my bug-posting.
In older versions of DeI it was typically enough to research: 'ship ram' & 'improved ramming' - I currently was puzzled about my general's skill: 'Strong Helmsman'. It's either new, or I never noticed or it was never needed
Ramming-stuff feels way more balanced - given my Penteres. Also new, the AI does built full fleets now. I was literally shocked and the deployment is done in 10+8+2; so you can't win any- and everything with a mere bunch of 1+8 ships. I like it! (yeah..you still can, AI is still stupid)

Biggest change I noticed is the morale-overhaul. Oh, boy.... it's awesome. Back then and mostly in late, I switched to H/H ... because even the crappiest unit was next to unbreakable.
currently: My hoplites/pikes struggle, if I don't pay attention and let them get flanked. ('minimum ranks' fixed that issue....it was driving me nuts. The pike/hoplite submod makes them weaker...)

And then we have cavalry! I so love the new cavalry....this is the real stuff! The formation-attack is top-notch and I really like, that they properly pull off, so I can regroup them. They literally won me 4 heroic victories.
Am usually more of an infantry-type player...but yeah! cav is fun - in other news: "DeI cavalry >> Total war cavalry!"

Hoplite/Pike formation is incredible - don't install the submod, it breaks them - but as said above, for my typical smaller unit-size (I like the average '100' size in all TW), the formation-submod fixed it.

Am actually trying to avoid a silly war against those Cataphract-factions. But only need to conquer Italy and be done with. Most like it will take up at least another 60 turns and I'll declare war on them anyway. The spice must flow!

Really feels fleshed out and finished! So it's basically Total War. Rome III

Thanks, having a bunch of fun and struggle in my campaign! awesome

(also noticed, the political thingies aren't the joke anymore....It's quite crazy, what influence your other parties get and how to maintain. Not that it is hard, but you have to dabble in once every while. Or rather every other turn. Was easier to maintain in older revisions - so also a good change.)

edit: just some random praise :Þ
