    Default Transferring Saved Games

    Hello -

I recently installed M2TW on a different computer I own (a much faster one). I wanted to continue with my Spanish Campaign, so I thought I would go to the Save games folder and send the latest one as an attachment to my e-mail address.

I opened that file and copied it to the Save folder on the new computer. The saved game showed up in the list of saved campaigns to load. However, when I tried starting up the saved game on the new computer, the game would freeze up at the loading screen.

I remembered that I had installed the patch and had changed the descr_strat file to unlock all factions and change the game to 2 years per turn and to show turns as years on my old game. So I changed the descr_strat file on the new computer, as well. I also downloaded and installed the patch on the new computer. The saved game still wouldn't load up.

Can anyone help with this? I really don't want to start a new campaign on the new computer (although it is much faster than the old one). Thanks in advance!

first use a directory compare tool and compare install locations. Also not sure but maybe the settings for graphics and such are different some how but since you are moving it to a new computer shouldnt matter. On your new computer try installing and patching. Then go into the install directory and rename it to like blah_orig then copy your old install directory(slow machine) into your new. Try starting a fresh game first then close out then add your save game and try starting it.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one.

I upgraded my PC, saved my Sega folder onto an external HD and attempted to copy my saved games folder to a fresh 1.3 folder.

When I load the game it does not give me the option to continue campaign. What do I need to do? Also, I do no longer have all factions unlocked, eventhough I have beaten the game.

Vista has a special files section hidden away for some reason. The saves files, and others, are there. Did you put it in that section or somewhere else?

Do you know where this section is? I may not have it anymore do to the fresh install. I just copied the Sega folder...

AppData is a hidden folder. To be able to see hidden folders from explorer, you have to go to Organize->Folders and Search Options->Show Hidden Folders.
