    Default The Mustering

A day's ride to the north of London did the King's forces muster. Various companies of uniformed men bearing the standards of both King and commandery buzzed round the every growing encampment; their numbers were being bolstered by the personal armies of the various peers that elected to join the campaign effort. Nearby, the Viscount de Courtenay watches as several companies of his command conduct some drills while the rest of the commandery finish setting up the encampment.

John de Mowbray, the Duke of Norfolk, arrives at the camp north of London with his retinue and livery. While the common soldiers and knights were dressed more or less uniformly in red and blue clothing, with the white lion of Mowbray on their banners and badges, the duke himself wore black armor with golden etching, draped in a surcoat displaying his personal arms. The etching displayed imaged of lions, roses and crosses all over the blackened steel.
