    Icon9 1400 x 1050 on screen 1920 x 1080 not scretched

    Hi guys.

    My default resolution is 1920 x 1080.

Some time ago, while tweaking mod default.cfg , I was able to run the game in 1400 x 1050 resolution,
and after launching the game the screen resolution was still 1920 x 1080
( no info on screen about resolution change, resolution was not 1680 x 1050)
and I just got two beautiful black stripes on left and right and game centered.
SO aspect ratio was correct, unchanged !

Today I'm launching the game as usual .... and game launches in 1400 x 1050 but screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 and game is stretched !!!
    Aspect ratio is bad !!

What happenend ? How to revert game to 1400 x 1050 with unchanged aspect ration ??

    !!!! SOLVED !!!!

I always live & work with dual monitors (laptop, 1920x1080 screen as primary & laptop screen as secondary). Somehow it was the problem, today I unplugged my laptop, run on laptop screen etc.

What I did to revert :
    - switched to single monitor.
    - launched the game - it launched correctly, game res is 1400 x 1050 but without changing screen resolution (still 1920 x 1080) and two black stripes on left & right & correct aspect ratio.
    - then exit the game, apply both monitors.
    - enter the game, on main screen I've got proper 1400 x 1050 with aspect ratio (as above).

My earlier solution for this problem was : play 1400 x 1050, but after game launch -> 'native res' is 1680 x 1050 and game is stretched,
so I changed 'Picture Size' of my Samsung monitor from 16:9 to 4:3, and got similar efect (but manual changing aspect on monitor ration was required).

An alternate way to change the aspect ration is by changing your monitor's display as you did, the available wide screen tick option in the game's video options doesn't always yield the desired result. As default the game will either stretch the display to the monitor resolution or display in a window with a resolution that is pre-configured through the game's video option settings (campaign and battle resolution), depending whether you have set windowed mode or not.

Below is my display, MTW2 in 1400 x 1050 on Full HD, correct aspect ratio.
This is what I called : black stripes on left & right.
I think it's the best method to play the game :

+ uses "native LCD display resolution" -> means one in-game pixel = one display pixel, no any rescaling
+ correct aspect ratio, round shields are really round
    + still quite big resolution

1050*1040 is pretty much the default 4:3 aspect ration of the game. One way that I have come across the 'black stripe' display is from monitors that somehow do not support the auto stretch feature of the game.

Another possibility how it happens I just mentioned yesterday:
Nvidia has an 'adjust desktop size and position' option in it's control panel in which you can override the scaling mode set by programs. Mine set to 'aspect ration' which does not present a problem at 16:9 but might cause your issue at the extreme aspect you are having. Other options are 'fullscreen' (which may provide a solution) and 'no scaling'.
I presume setting your option to 'no scaling' should get you your black stripes back.
