Custom character names in startpos?
Sorry to take up your time guys but I have a quick question that no-one can seem to answer! Are you guys able to use custom character names in the campaign startpos? More specifically, "start_pos_characters" where a specific name (forename, clan-name, family-name) was not listed in the vanilla version of the "names" db table, so you had to create your own? I've tried almost everything for my mod but BoB fails to compile the startpos every time I list a character with a custom name!
PS- Great mod so far! I am anxiously awaiting the campaign release!

Yes, this is possible and we are doing it.
With a bit more detail, I don't mind providing some feedback/help. My first thought would be that you may be trying to use the custom forenames/clan names and such with name groups that aren't set-up right in the name_orders_tables. When I was first doing startpos, names gave me fits, as well, though it's really pretty simple.

I appreciate your help! I have the name groups set up in the name_orders tables the same as the roman names (they are all Roman names). Did you create a custom name group or just piggybacked on an existing group? tried them both, still no luck.

This was a godsend lol. Did you ever figure out how to get the surnames to stay the same?

this was always most infuriating for me. would it be that hard for developers to make each emperor have the correct titles? or for a family name to be passed on? or to gain epithets like Brittanicus or 'The Great'?

I was poking around in the lua files and I wonder if it can be done when a character is created in there. I have no idea how to make that happen tho. There's that one mod with traits and fake houses as traits that adds stuff when a character is created but it's too complicated for me to figure out.
