I have both an fx8120, and an AMD Athlon X4 860K Black edition.
*Gasp* yes i use AMD, shame on me.
But, still, which CPU is the best for medieval 2 when over clocked?

Either of these chips is capable of handling anything MTW2 can throw at you and there shouldn't be any need to overclock. MTW2, graphically, is 2 generations old by now (in Total War terms), in fact, I was having CTD problems with MTW2 on my i7-4790 which resolved when I stopped overclocking.

Hello?
^ I've never had slowdown with MTW2 and I first played it on a single core Pentium processor, irrc there's a thread around somewhere (mostly likely here in MTW2 tech forum) that explains how the dual cores are utilised how it relates to Total War engines and I don't think there was any performance issue pertaining to such. So, I can't really help you, I run FRAPS in the background of my game with no issue so it's not likely to be that, could heat build up be an issue?. All I can suggest is fiddle around with your graphics settings.
