The Cathedral of Saint Peter is a magnificent building that towers over the city of York. Though still under construction, York Minister still serves as the rightful seat of the Archbishop of York and where masses are still performed daily by the clergy and attended by the people of the Archdiocese. The seat has seen many great clergymen come and go and is known to have occasionally, in the past, disputed the supremacy of Canterbury, which is all but undisputed by this point by the machinations of Kings and Popes.

The present Archbishop is George Neville, former Bishop of Exeter.

The influence of his family ensured rapid promotion, achieving the rank of Bishop of Exeter in 1458. In 1467, he was elevated further to the Archbishop of York due to his predecessor having a falling out with the Pope of Rome, the King of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
