Edit 2 - I was able to start a campaign as Rome. I then exited and tried to start a campaign as Pergamon again. For some reason, this time it worked... I am still confused by the whole thing, but at least the game now appears to be working.
Edit - I have a new problem. I was able to open the game, but when I selected the faction Pergamon, and clicked start campaign, I was able to see the faction intro video, but before the campaign map loaded I got a crash to desktop.
To add to the problems, I can't find the log file. I checked to make sure that the cfg file has the right code so that it will save logs (it does), but when I check the EBII folder, there is no log folder. I don't understand why this is.
I have two problems.
1. I copied and pasted my medieval 2 installation into the C drive, to create a new installation, but when I double click the game, i get an error message. The game won't open, but the error message consists of "!" so I have no idea why this is happening nor how to fix it
2. I installed EB II anyway into that folder and tried to launch, but the installer seems to think my medieval II installation is in Steam apps common (well it isn't). Yes I do have the Steam version of the game, but I don't use it and it's not the one I used when I copied and pasted the files. I have both the steam and the non-steam versions of the game. It should be looking in the new folder I created, C/Medieval II Total War. But I don't know how to make it look in the right place. When I try to launch the game, it won't work.
How do I get out of this mess? And why for the love of god could you not just make it so that this mod is installed the normal way, the same as all the other mods?
Thanks!
