Icon1 Latin and Native Faction Names Submod

    Hello everyone!

I present to you, my very first mod/s.

Two seperate submods for your immersion needs. One changes faction names to their Latin equivalent, and the other to their native. As the MKTW: 1212 progresses this mod/s will be updated accordingly, I might even consider changing a few major things once MKTW: 1212 has reached a certain stage. Check them out!

    Latin: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=784136744

    Native: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=784155986

I am willing to make some other mods like this one for other languages. However, as I will definitely not entertain the notion of adding every other language, I will only consider languages that is shared between atleast 4 factions (eg. Kingdom of France and friends, The HRE and children, the Italian Wrestlemania etc). Languages in Cyrillic and other alphabets is very unlikely. That being said, please do not expect full translations, treat this as a temporary solution to your localisation problem, you would be better off expecting full translations from others who speak the language.

I am aware this mod/s is/are far from perfect, and I hope people can give me positive feedback on what to change and/or improve. I will definitely consider changing names which is/are deemed incorrect and/or inaccurate, as long as you provide a simple link to support your testimony.

All credits go the team members of Medieval Kingdoms: 1212 AD mod and CA for making Total War: Attila.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this mod (not much to enjoy anyways) and have a good day.

Very nice job and you seem to haev nailed the names as far as I could tell.
    Just 2 things

    1) I wonder why you createδ a latin version since the English one ( to be universally understood) and the native one (for immersion) seem enough.
    2) In the native version I would reverse the words of the "roman Empire" to "Romaiki Aftokratoria" since it is more correct in terms of syntax.

    1. I find the language (Latin) very cool and and interesting. I first made it for my personal use but uploaded it just incase anyone had similar interests. Additionally, when the grand campaign of the MKTW gets released, faction names being in Latin when you are playing as a Latin-speaking faction will bring added immersion and roleplay.

    2. I will keep that in mind when I will update it in the future.

    Thank you for positive feedback

Change in native version the Małopolska Polska to just only Małopolska. That means just like in english Lesser Poland.

To be honest; I only used google translate for Lesser Poland. That was just plain laziness on my part, will be changed to Ducatus Polonia Minor and Małopolska respectively.

You've got the wrong case ending for several of the Latin names. Those should mostly be in genitive, not nominative case (basically, most places you have -a on the end should be -ae). A few are different. "Regnum Aegyptus" should be "Regnum Aegypti" for example. Also Trebizond isn't a Latin word. Maybe use the old Latin name, "Trapezus," well, "Trapezi" in the genitive.

Ah, the man himself who inspired to me to make these submods! I am deeply honored to meet you sir!

Unfortunately, as you probably know, many of those faction names don't have a Latin equivalent (looking at you Kievan Principalities and Persian factions), I had to cut corners, namely Google Translate. As you are indefinitely more versed in this area than me, I would really be grateful if you could give me a comprehensive list on what to change and what to improve upon; via PM or Steam (FuzFuzFuz), if it wouldn't be too much bother.

I loved your Latin Names mod for Attila, I hope my submod can live up to your mod within the MKTW community. Thank you for your reaching out sir, have a great day.

Sure, I can put together a list. You've got it mostly right, just a few details need fixing here and there. I had a hunch you did the Latin version inspired by my mod, hehe.

you did good job and i like that you have put tones at the greek successor states but there are a few mistakes:
    1. Aftokratoria Romaiki should be Autokratoria tis Nikaias because all of the greek successor states where from the roman empire. Also it was known as Empire (Autokratoria) of (tis) Nicaea (Nikaias).
    2. Aftokratoria Trapezountas should be Autokratoria tis Trapezountas because of the same logic.
    3. Despotato Ipeirou should be Despotato tis Ipeirou or Despotato tis Epeirou.
Rhomaiki Autokratoria should be when you restore the empire.
Your mistakes were mostly grammatical or at spelling so it was good enough.
