    Default More militia shenanigans

    http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-w...ants-in-kansas

In a small Kansas town, three men have just been arrested and charged with planning a bomb attack on Somali immigrants. Furthermore, they even considered going after anyone who accommodated the immigrants. They allegedly planned the attack for the day after the presidential election. We're looking at domestic terrorism charges because they are clearly politically motivated, and their goal was to spread terror among the immigrant and Muslim communities. From other reports, one of them had already been arrested for domestic violence against his girlfriend.

In other news, it's come to light that there were 15 confidential sources that fed info to the Feds during the Malheur occupation earlier this year. It appears that their group didn't have as much support as previously thought. http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-sta...river_home_pop

My hope is militia get extra paranoid now so their capabilities are crippled. Most of these Sovereign Citizen types don't vote because they don't believe they're part of the US. Therefore this is not a reduction of Trump voters so put the knives away already.

Anyways, the US is the only developed country that allows such groups to even exist. Why do you think that is? This isn't a great American tradition, and these anti-government groups didn't spring up until the '80s.

They were arrested and charged. Hardly allowed to exist.

what the OP meant is not that law enforcement turns a blind eye to them but that a double standard definitely does exist from other parts of government and the populace, for example when Ted Cruz says "Christians have no meaningful risk of committing terrorism" and a huge chunk of Republicans actually believe him. another example would be how Trump and the Republican establishment both obsess over the phrase "radical Islamic terrorism" as if that's the only type of terrorism we need to be worrying about. it's findings like this thread that make all of these representatives look like idiots

also i could argue that sovereign citizens are allowed to get away with a lot of things that if somebody like a Muslim were to be doing them, they'd instantly have homeland security up their arse, whereas many sovereign citizens are stopped for petty things like having no valid license plate on their car, and that's typically when they come out of the car guns firing, and the incident is marked down as a typical "law enforcement encounter" rather than an encounter with a domestic terrorist

As pointed out in the OP, these were not regular people, these are uneducated and impoverished criminals. This was not a political attack. Anarchism is an ideology of peace. TWC must not belong to those who slander the militias of America.

a couple of extra things i want to add:

    - they are Christians. this can be inferred by their social media posts where they keep saying "God bless", and from the title of their group which is 'Crusaders', and how they believe Christian groups are being painted as the enemy. i'm guessing that the phrase "Deus vult" is going to have new connotations after this one

    - they have posted a lot of stuff on their social media that is pro gun-rights, pro patriotism
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    - they have posted a ton of anti-Hillary rants:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Fellow Americans, here we sit once again as a divided nation at the onset of one of our most important elections! We gotta see past all the media BS and brain washing! Each and every citizen has the right to vote for who ever they see fit! I, of course want you to vote for the candidate that I support and yes I will try to change your mind, like you do me, and give reasons why! That’s all part of it! But in the end your choice is yours! Over the years, and I have said this many times, the two party process has broken! I do not believe there is truly two different parties. I believe here is a hidden agenda and if anyone will take the time too look this cannot be denied! I personally back Donald Trump because even tho he is running under the republican ticket I do not see him as a party member, part of the problem! I do see him as an outsider, bringing a new outlook I to the govt. I do not think he is part of the hidden agenda that both parties talk about openly now! Time will tell! And if it turns out he has been lying to the American people and he doesn’t do what’s right for the people and this nation then appropriate action will be taken!!

What I do know is this. Hillary Clinton cannot allowed to be in office. Her actions as far back as an attorney in Ark. show her as a lying manipulative beast that deserves to be In Prison. There is NO denying this! The last thing we need as a nation is to have her put in office just because she is a woman! All I ask is before casting your vote, get off your butts long enough to do a little research and look into what the person has done in the past, and what they are running on! She is openly running on disarming the American people!! Putting Americans In relearning centers and fema camps! She actually says these things at her rallies! The division between trump and Cruz voters have hurt feelings and caused chaos among the republican voters! All I can ask is to not take it personal, don’t be so offended that you don’t get out and vote! That would be a huge dis service to our nation when we need you the most! Me personally, I would of voted for Cruz if he would of got the nomination because I understand that not voting makes it a shoe in for Clinton. The way our govt is, I’m not sure this hasn’t been the plan all along!! So, with all that being said I am asking for all Americans to look into their candidate!! I am asking that all republicans come together as a nation! Thanks and. God Bless our Great nation once again!!

    - anti-Muslim rhetoric:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Stein, in a conference call, said “Make sure if you start using your bow on them cockroaches, make sure you dip them in pig’s blood before you shoot them.”

Stein also allegedly said, he “wanted to just go do something. He said he wanted to get a .22, go over to Garden City, Kansas, start kicking in the doors of the Somali apartments, and kill them one by one.”

    - they idolize Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma bombing

    - they really like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump

we keep seeing these common stereotypes being confirmed time and time again when it comes to right-wing domestic terrorists, it's almost like you could construct a template or a profile based on the character of these people

UI am astounded that such a civilised and strong country has this insane loophole in their constitution that has been interpreted to allow terrorists to prosper. Bombing refugees? What heartless scum would even think of that?

Sorry are you under the impression that it is legal to actually bomb people in America?

Owning a gun and having friends is not illegal.

And what if these "friends" used guns and training to form militias, patrols, appoint sheriffs, deputies and declare themselves independent from the law?

No, but thanks for being sorry.

But having armed bands with strong anti government rhetoric that attract enemies of the US who peddle racism and bigotry is a problem. These guys are abscesses on the body politic.

Racist bigoted bombers seem to be ISIS with crucifixes.

Hmmm I still don't understand what you're all upset about.

    Armed with guns = legal
    Anti-government rhetoric = legal
Attracting US enemies = presumably legal, depending on the enemy
    Racism and bigotry = legal

As long as they are not violating anybody's rights, you have no right to violate theirs.

Conspiring to bomb people is illegal, most likely, and so they were arrested. To quote Austin Powers, "everything seems to be in order."

However as Rahm Emanuel once said, never let a crisis go to waste. Already I see snuggans anxiously preparing to drop his 12th thread about conservative terrorism on TWC.

So you're suggesting that they have the right to declare themselves independent of US jurisdiction and law enforcement? Because many militias and Sovereign Citizen movements do.

People need no arms who haven't served in the armed forces.
Earn your right and be responsible for it, otherwise you don't deserve it.

Militias typically don't declare themselves independent of US jurisdiction and law enforcement. They're typically preppers that gather together and train together. This group? See what happened to this group. That's what happens to a militia that actually breaks the law. See that Bill of Rights? That's what stands between our government and its citizens that just get together and does together.

It comes down to acts that relate in a rational, responsible and accountable fashion to regulations, laws and Constitution. The alternative is unproductive in terms of rights.

LOL are you defeating your own rant? There were as many as 15 confidential sources from one of the groups telling the Feds about their incident. And one from the group in Kansas. Accountable to regulations indeed.

It's that you don't read the story and fully process the information. Take your time before you let your brain binge on a rant next time please.

A lot of people are saying, a lot of people...its sad. I watched when the Alfred P Murragh Buildng came tumbling down, and I watched in Tulsa, OK where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering. They were saying Deus Vult, and putting three poisoned skittles into every bowl. That's our problem right now, skittles.

I suppose if you want we can get rid of the Bill of Rights and let the government go nuts? If nothing else it'd be a great revenge story for you.

    Erm... okay...

Historically speaking you are more likely to be killed by a government, than by an anti-government group. If you think the Oklahoma bombings were bad, wait until you hear about Hitler, Mao and Stalin. We can disarm anti-government groups right after we disarm all governments. Fair's fair.

Not quite. The military exists mainly to protect against other militaries. If all militaries disappear, the US military is no longer necessary.
