MAARC LXVI - Results!
MAARC LXVI
Congratulations to the winners!
In FIRST PLACE is Kingdoms of the Sand by Geoffrey of Villehardouin. Geoffrey now needs just one more Writers' Study competition point to earn a bronze Writers' Study competition medal (see the Hall of Fame in the Writers' Lounge for more information). Previously, there were written AARs, often written in a narrative style, and video AARs, showing game-play with commentary. Kingdoms of the Sand is both a video and a narrative AAR, using both elements to full effect, as we watch the Lakhmids strive bravely to become the pre-eminent power in Arabia. This could represent the future of video AARs. We don't have to wait for the future to arrive; we can enjoy it now, in the 1st-place winner of the MAARC LXVI!
In SECOND PLACE is For Honor or for Glory? by waveman. This win brings waveman another step closer to the coveted gold Writers' Study competition medal. Like Geoffrey de Villehardouin, waveman is leading a small faction (at least, initially) which must step carefully to survive and expand. For Honor or for Glory matches exciting political intrigue with dramatic battles, illustrates with well-chosen screenshots. If you have not discovered this excellent AAR, now is the time to catch up on what you have been missing!
Thanks to all those who submitted and of course congratulations to our winners!
(There is no third place winner in this MAARC. This was a 'reduced competition', with fewer than six submissions. This means that only the first and second place AARs win Writers' Study competition points. When you see an AAR or story which deserves recognition, feel free to encourage its author to submit an entry to the next MAARC.)
The submission thread is here and, voting thread is here and the tie-breaker vote is here.
