Default Westworld (HBO series) (Season 2 Trailer)

Based on the novel by Michael Crichton

Westworld isn't your typical amusement park. Intended for rich vacationers, the futuristic park -- which is looked after by robotic "hosts" -- allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. No matter how illicit the fantasy may be, there are no consequences for the park's guests, allowing for any wish to be indulged. "Westworld"

First episode aired tonight. Pretty good so far.

    What about it?

This show is based on the 1970s novel Westworld. It's not set in Virtual Reality.

Hm, so they are automata and occupy actual physical space?

Well, the 13nth floor was about some weird virtual reality that beings that already were living in virtual reality had developed, so it was more meta.
And also, it had Armin Muller Stahl, so is better
(although Ed Harris is always cool)

I expect the story will start to come together in time, a solid enough start though...

Saw the episode again with some mates. We were supposed to watch a movie but could not find anything worth watching.

(And watching other people realize teddy is not real was very fun)

And dude on re-watching, the acting in this is on another level. Its in fact absolutely supreme. I thought TV this season peaked with Stranger Things, but if they keep this level of production up it would mean a new favorite for me.

It's basically Jurassic Park, but for history instead of for prehistory. Literally, since it was written by the same author and has the exact same conceit: theme park attractions go crazy and start killing people. The only difference being they are robots rather than dinosaurs. So it's kind of like a cross between iRobot and Jurassic World I suppose. Except a TV serial rather than a movie, and actually quite well written.

Apparently in the original film, there were ancient Roman and medieval themeparks as well as the Wild West one. Now that will be worth watching.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

I liked that scene where he chooses a hat. t did not say but its obvious that's the moment people decide what sort of dude they are going to be in there.

^Don't they have hearing devices for all hosts? Cause the little girl seemed to not care much speaking about the labyrinth, or more importantly Ed Harris doesn't seem to care if that was heard, despite being watched for being on a murder spree (allowed apparently by some of the developers).

Is the labyrinth a robot-built thing?

Well Harris he apparently got special privileges, also I think he's searching for something that the creator put into the world which nobody else knows about. And I doubt the operators hear every word that is spoken in the park live.
