    Default About Seleucid's factoin pronouncement

    Hello AE team.

I just want to say Seleucid is my most favorite faction. well second is rome tho.

anyway I think Seleucid should be pronounce as empire.

like in wiki or whatever else.

why not Seleucid be empire? because of they have king and dynasty?

what about Persian empire have kings and dynasty and british empire have king or queen.

I'm just curious and I feel something is little bit wrong..

someone let me know how to change faction name without ctds if you guys don't want to change name officially. [ I have some knowledge about PFM and Editsf]

    please..

I think you could argue either way. One one hand, an empire is a rulership over multiple political entities (i.e. lesser kingdoms or "nations"), such as the british empire, early roman empire etc., but on the other hand, if Alexander's Empire (which was most definitely an empire) was broken up into lesser states (Antigonid, Selucid, Ptolemaic etc.), then its difficult to call what's left over an "empire". Essentially, you can't have an empire ruling over a lesser empire. Can you have an empire that splits into lesser empires then?

well roman empire split to 4 in 4 empeoror era, and eventually divide into two.

so Seleucid become empire if Seleucid empire conquer makedon, Ptolemaic?

I hope there will be event like that

Well, 'empire' is a term applied to the Seleucids today, but isn't how they are described in the ancient sources. They are the Macedonian dynasty in Syria or something like that, typically. They didn't even adopt the title of "king of kings," and anti-Seleucid sentiment in Persia as I understand it drew on this fact. What I would call propaganda painted the Seleucid period as a time of anarchy as a result of the number of 'kings' (presumably satraps).

In general, I would like to have some form of political transition where possible for every faction. can't guarantee that right away on release, but in terms of the Seleucids - kingdom/dynasty are more appropriate terms for where they were in 202 BC, in my view. And it's how they were viewed at the time.
