Default Staffordshire- home to the duke of buckingham

    Staffordshire

The home of the Stafford family. Although they also hold the title duke of buckingham, the current regent much prefer the peacefull home, their original holdings. Birds flock and sing and all looks lovely indeed. Here also growing the children of the house, including the heir.
    Staffordshire:
Royal Forests: Staffordshire is known for being home to two large royal forests, Kinver and Cannock. Besides being quality hunting reserves that a bored sovereign could spend hours in, these forests obviously obstruct enemy advances and are difficult for even experienced scouts to navigate. -2 to enemy's scouting rolls, -1 to the controller's death rolls.

    OOC- archibishop of york right?
The archibishop is led into a large dining room, decorated with items such as deer heads and several other animals hanging from the wall. It has high ceiling, and red and brown are the main colors, certainty displaying wealth and taste. At the end of a long oak table, sits regent edward, with fancy long clothes and massive bulk. "Come and sit, your holyness." he said. "Men of the faith are always welcome in our table."

OOC: Yes, Francis is the Archbishop of York

IC: Francis politely greeted the Duke and gently extended his hand exposing the ring of office. To be truthful Francis didn't really like having people kiss his hand, but it was a church tradition and he understood the symbolism. Once the pleasantries were over Francis sat at the table with the hosts permission.

Your Grace, you are blessed with a fine home. May God always bless and protect it

Edward kisses the ring and sits back. "Ah, a fine house indeed. More than two hundred old, in fact." he summons servants with a bottle of wine. "Now, Francis right? What brings you to this lands?"

A messenger arrives at the residence of the Stafford family, carrying a message for the Duke of Buckingham. His presence is requested in London as soon as possible on matters of the highest affair, with an invitation to the Lord Chancellor's personal residence. The letter is signed and sealed by John de Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk, Lord Chancellor and Lord Privy Seal.

In truth I wish to better acquaint myself with the aristocracy of England, knowing their wants, ambitions and desires, ensuring I keep the right kind of company.

"Oh" said the duke. He was hoping to something more....consistent. "I desire a quiet and prosperous england and a healthy life for me and house staffod. I have all the money i need and a duke's seat until my lovely nephew grow older. What else i might need? On another note, how's that "bishoph's meeting" go? No offence, but when enough men of the cloth get together things tend to get...interesting. " he laughs and pour a glass of wine for him and for Francis.

Contentment is a fine gift for those whom have plenty, take pleasure in the bounty which God has provided for you and your family. charity is a good way of giving thanks for God's bounty

I didn't attend, York and Canterbury don't see eye to eye as of late. Instead I'm traveling to Rome to see the Pope

Francis decided to correct the young Duke in his style of addresses
Your Grace, only the Pope is referred as His Holiness, Cardinals are referred to has Your Eminence, Archbishops are referred as Your Grace, Bishops are My Lord or Lord-Bishop, Priests as Father.

As for Canterbury there is not much to say, he is a senile old coot and it's only a matter of time until he loses his seat.

"My apologies, your...grace? I didn't have a very religious education back when my father still lived. And also, it's the heart that matters, right?" he nods himself and drink another glass of wine. "And the time depends on how fast you will journey to Rome, huh? Then sooner the better i would think. why bother visiting an old noble without a stand on this crucial time?

I'm going to Rome to discuss Canterbury and hope the Pope will agree with me. While that man sits in Canterbury, England suffers.

Well I'll my son, I could use your support in petitioning the King as well as the Pope to promote me to Cardinal. Canterbury must be put into check

"A cardinal. I see" he has strong ambition, maybe i could use it to promote the house he thinks."well, Francis. Since we are friends, allow me to speak plainly. Why should i involve myself in such delicate situation, and one that does not concerns me at all?" he smiles "after all, i'm duke, not a bishop."

A Duke has great influence within a Kingdom, and Kingdoms have great influence on the Papacy.

At the end of a long wooden table, sits the duke of Buckingham, a massive display of fat wrapped up in silk and a red coat in the most fancy manner possible. "James Reeds." the dukes signal him to sit "i thought i knew all the nobles of england, but i did not heard your name. What brings you to the lands of staffordshire?"

    James made a respectful bow

I am a representative of the sacred Queen Margaret.

    James continued bowing

We both know she is very fierce, we also both know a war is looming, it is just a matter of time.

    James stood stoic

Queen Margaret wants you to do ''nothing''when such a war could erupt and that doing nothing would benefit you.

Edward stafford turns his back to james. why?! Why you bloody idiots, power hungry, with a total lack of remorse or kindness bastards?! Haven't you had your fair share of blood and death? Of grief? Have you thought what will happen to the men and woman of england?! Hunders, maybe thousands dying. These are not human beings. All of them. They are wolves that their hunger knows no bond. Curse them! All of them! Yorks or lancasters! Brother, father, the world you left because of this war had gone mad. But i must remain calm, for the sake of house stafford. For the sake of your children. But what should i do? No one is safe in this time of turmoil. he turns to james, with a healthy smile on his face "i'm intrigued. Tell me more. And drink some wine. You standing there gives me the shivers." he waits until he drinks (this wine is very strong, befitting a drinker like him) and continues "so, when, where and how much men? I would like to assest the situation and your response has a very strong impact on my decision."

James nips a little from the wine.

Enough to restore the house of Lancaster and when the time is ripe from a undisclosed location. James didn't offer any details out of fear for betrayal.

All you got do is nothing, you will not have to ride out and go to war, your lands will be spared from war if you do ''nothing''.

James sat down on a chair

That doing nothing would get rewarded with title's, and that all for doing nothing
