After breaking through several layers of bureaucracy, the knight of England is brought forward to bring his petition before Emperor Fredrick, who looked on disinterested.

Michael walks in and bows to the Emperor.
Your Imperial Majesty. I am here on the behalf of the true King of England, Edward IV. I am sorry to bother you at this moment as I am sure you have concerns over your own lands. However, we are locked in a struggle against the Lancestarian menace, as you may or may not be aware of. They are trying to get support against us from Irish and Scottish rebels. You may ask what does this have to do with your mighty empire? Well, They are also taking exile in France. Again, why should you care?
Your Imperial Majesty, they are allowing themselves to interfere with our affairs of state. France is trying to grow stronger. If we lose this struggle, and they install their puppet as King of England, do you not think they will use their power against you? We ask that you assist us in some way against them. Even if you do not want war with France, I am sure France wants to choke your empire to death. If you won't directly help us, maybe.... indirectly? Trade? Weapons? Mercenaries?
He steps back and awaits his reply.
Frederick was a cautious ruler, hardly bold and daring in his enterprise; he had united the Hapsburg domains largely by outliving his political opponents and inheriting their lands when they perished. Thus far, his squabbles with the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus had been unsuccessful.
"What do I care if France grows stronger? They do not border my own lands, nor those of the Imperial princes. I have greater concerns than France." Frederick waved his hand dismissively. Those intimate with the Imperial court knew he spoke of the encroaching Hungarians and Hussite Bohemians, who menaced the Hapsburg domains in the east. "I apologise for this, but matters in the west hold no interest to me. I fail to see how you can convince me otherwise."
"King Louis knows his limits." Frederick frowned, unconvinced. "You are welcome to our hospitality here, but no more. This audience is finished."
"Thank you for your time, your Imperial Majesty"
Michael bows, and leaves, disappointed.
