    Icon4 Want to slow down naval invasions?

    Here is my modified export_descr_unit.txt

    In it I doubled the cost of almost all ships so that the AI builds less of them, and is less likely to use them for Naval invasions.

    I realize this might be more of a "mod" but thought for the sort term it might be more appropiate for here since there is an active discussion on naval invasions.

    There are some very minor tweaks (no more than 1 or 2 points here and there) to unit stats to... check out archers and crusading orders in a custom battle... you'll see the changes are minor, yet make the variety actually matter.

    If you doubled the cost, I suppose it's also for the player...?

    Good idea, I just did this myself. Of course your idea inspired me to do it.

    @DefenderOfTheCrown: Of course. If you change something in the export_descr_unit.txt it's always affecting the player.

    Or goto SM_factions text file and have them NOT prefrer naval invasion's. But this is a good idead aswell.

    I also created a small mod that slightly lowers unrest (just editted the building_descr to give all walls an extra 5-10% reduction in unrest due to law bonus).

    If you want to nerf unrest I would suggest cutting squalor's impact on order (SOF Squalor - in settlement_mechanics.xml) in half or by 2/3. That way cities will still rebel against you, just not your own capital city

    I found that particular entry (it's called "SOF_SQALOUR" in "descr_settlement_mechanics.xml" by the way)...

    But can you explain what the different modifiers mean and how one should change them in order to lower the effect of squalour a bit?

    I like the new sea invasions. Greece sent hundreds of ships to the shores of Troy. The Romans dominated the sea during the time of Hannibal, forcing him to march to Rome via land.

    Build a strong fleet in any area that keeps getting invaded by sea. Knock out the enemy army and most importantly their Generals at sea.

    Just play on Hard campaign difficulty rather than VH. The AI still uses ships, but as england Ive only been invaded by sea by scotland, by turn 60.

    But those all come from the wrong time period... and that's why people don't see invasions like those being an appropiate strategy for M2TW factions to use on a regular/yearly basis
