Standing on top of the wall, Sir Robert Clifford looks out at the messenger. His youngest brother had already been sent away to Oxford. however, the prideful part of Robert couldn't bear to see the family castle in the hands of the Yorkists. A single arrow from the walls, landing at the messenger's feet. The gates were sealed and the message was clear.

For future reference, such an action would require more time than just a post, Skylord. You are burning down a stone castle and trying to organize a move at the same time which takes time.

As such, by the time a detachment of the Royal Army arrives, Clifford Tower will only be partially damaged and the trail of Robert Clifford will still be relatively fresh. Thus the Royal Army, if they pick up the trail, will be right behind the retreating Clifford. Next time, please put in more effort than a post to perform such actions. It would require more to burn down such a structure after all.

Lm, I understand that, but this action was posted late last night and I've been in college all day. In fact im leaving right now. What I can do is make a post whenbi get home and you can judge on that, I just wasn't in a position to do it at the time.

That's understandable. I just wanted to make everyone knew of this beyond just you. We need to make sure everyone is aware that we don't allow the one post actions, like what happened in GoT one time.

Robert Clifford watched as the royal messenger scurried off with his tail between his legs. With his mind thinking quickly, he turned to Thomas, his brother, and scowled. "If the messenger is here, Yorkist troops won't be far behind. Get your kit together and have the men assemble in the courtyard. We're retreating from here - as soon as possible." With Thomas scurrying off down the stairs, Sir Robert Clifford turned to the lieutenants of the Clifford troops. "Get the men ready to retreat. We'll burn the castle down and move North to Inglewood Forest."

With cold nods, the officers set off at great pace to organize their men to sack the castle as quickly as possible. With a large section of men packing enough supplies for the retreat north - packing light so they could move fast, the rest grabbed axes and set to work. Laying into the furniture, the doors and anything even semi-flammable, the men worked quickly and hard. They hauled the firewood from storage, cracked open barrels of pitch and oil and opened up the coal and peat bunkers.

The fires were set in strategic locations - at the base of weight bearing pillars, underneath wooden floors and ceilings. Small holes were even dug to undermine the walls and fires were set beneath them for sapping purposes. Oil was poured along the floor between the fires.

Finally time to light the bonfires in the castles, the men ran through the castle, lighting the fires furthest from the entrance first. Finally they stood outside, gasping for breath, preparing to mount up and trudge once again to the cold, dreary north to fight a war against their common foes...
