Default Positions of the Great Hosts

Use this thread to detail the forces of Armies within the Realm, as well as to post movements. Please be specific with movements. If you lack detail, the shortest distance by simply drawing a straight line will be assumed. Post any additions to your forces other than your original levy. Total army sizes should be kept track of within home threads.

    Hex Map

    Guidelines to Movement of Armies

    - Each hex has a different time value due to the presence of various terrain.
--> A plain hex is an 1 hour worth of time.
--> A hex with a road on it is 30 mins worth of time. (negates all terrain)
--> A mountain or forest hex (without a road) is 2 hours worth of time.
--> A water hex is 1 hour worth of time.

    - After a battle or raid, an army must remain stationary for 6 RL hours.
    - After a battle or raid, a retreating army returns to the nearest friendly keep or back to where they marched from. They cannot move for 6 RL hours afterwards.

    Post in this thread detailing:
    - A rough outline of your route plan (eg moving from London to York)
    - The troops you are moving
    - The time it will take in total
    - The rough arrival time

Be aware of the following guidelines
Shire/County Militia are quickly raised troops (6 hours) and comprised mostly of archers with a light presence of footmen (75% archers, 25% footmen).

Livery and Maintenance troops are where the bulk of the heavier and better quality troops lie. They are comprised of hired troops. They take 12 hours to levy.

Retinue is comprised entirely of heavy cavalry and their number is based on the wealth of their employer/rank. They are always levied.

The Earl of Surrey raises his shire militia and marches alongside the Earl of Kent and moves north towards Clifford.

Surrey marches from just south of London along the road directly to York (Clifford's Tower).

Surrey has a Large Militia, which can raise up to 4,500 men (how many are raised to be determined by a D10 roll)

    2 plain hexes (2 hours) + 34 road hexes (17 hours) = 19 hours

Will arrive 29/9 02:00 AM, GMT
