Game broke somehow

I was playing and the game chugged down to 1 FPS, then CTD'ed. Afterwards when trying to relaunch it, it nor vanilla medieval 2 would launch. I had to completely reinstall the game to fix this and there was no log for what happened.

OK, but without a log there's absolutely no way to distinguish whether it was something to do with the game, or your setup.
