Default A few questions regarding mods

In Rome, I had to uninstall-install everytime I tried a different mod, unless I made a backup(which I read on this forum) but I had no idea how and well I'm lazy. But apperently when I installed Lusted's Mod, it became a seperate folder with a own launch icon too. So does this means I can now play the mod and the vanilla version pending on which launch icon I use? If so, will it be like this for every future mod? Now that would be awesome.

Another thing I am curious about are the various mods. I really like Lusted's mod, especially his 2h work around. However I also like Shaba's diplomacy mod 1.4. Yesterday, I stumbled on another mod, DariusEG's mod for formations etc which looks really awesome.

I think the three mods are compatible with eachother, according to their own threads. I think I messed up soemthing with installing so I will be uninstalling Medieval2 and all it's mods, then reinstall the game.

Now after having reinstalled a clean vanilla, which mod would be wise to install first? Lusted's perhaps? If so, then do I have to install/extract the other two mods into LTC folder, or in the regular Medieval 2 folder?

    Thanks in advance guys.

You NEVER have to stuggle with this, I used to have more than 10 at once. All you need to do is copy your entire RTW folder and save it in that one!

Ok XiangYu i have read the various threads and i believe i know the process for the three you mentioned. Install ltc then copy shaba's descr_campaign_ai_db.xml file(one of three files found in shaba's mod the other ones will ovewrite lusted's changes with shaba's) to the *:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\landstoconquer\data then take the three files from the formation mod and put them in the same folder not the main directory or the regular data folder the ltc data folder. Then use the ltc shortcut to start useing all three and regular shortcut should remain unchanged. To use the formation mod i believe you need to have it on very hard battle difficulty in the main campaign screen. Additionally if you want the agent videos copy the fmv folder from the *:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data folder to the *:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\landstoconquer\data so everyting in the ltc data folder basicly. I am not as experienced with combining other mods.

If you guys want to backup your files and rarely have to reinstall, after you install the vanilla version of the game simply go to C:\Program Files\SEGA and copy the folder "Medieval II Total War" then past it right there again, creating a folder named "Copy of Medieval II Total War".

Then you have a backup of every game file, something goes wrong with a file you can just go into your "Copy of Medieval II Total War" folder and copy the file and paste it into your real game folder. If you want to reinstall everything, then just delete your "Medieval II Total War" folder and rename your "Copy of Medieval II Total War" to "Medieval II Total War" and you will once again have the vanilla version.

Just remember that this extra folder will take up 8GB or so, so if you don't have enough room on your hard drive then you won't be able to do this.
