    Default Diplomatic Region Trading

I was incredibly impressed when I saw that you fellas had managed to re-incorporate Captains and splitting armies. Part of the reason I've become less and less confident in CA products is that they appear to be stripping out functionality!

Anyway! One of the other things I missed dearly from the previous era of Total War was region trading in diplomacy. You know, you open diplomatic relations with France and tell them "Hey, I'll give you Marseille if you'll just stop attacking me!" or "Hey, give me Dijon for 30000 florins!" Something which most irks me about Attila and Rome 2 is that often times, puppet states are more trouble than they're worth because they don't take the cities you want them to take, and you can't establish proper buffer states by shoring up existing puppets by simply giving them cities.

Is there any hope for incorporating region trading?

Anything done here would require scripting, but based on previous conversations I've had with the people knowledgeable in that area, the answer is still unfortunately no. This seems like it's just not possible in this generation of games.

Trading regions via script is possible, but integrating it into the AI is almost definitely not.

Well quite xD, and without AI function there's not really much point to it.

By AI function, do you mean that the AI won't be able to do it among themselves? Honestly, I'd be fine with that. I just want to be able to give away regions that are causing me more trouble than they're worth.

Well even without them doing it between themselves they wouldnt be able to really decide whether giving you a settlement would be a good idea, it'd have to be separate to the diplomacy and so could be very easily taken advantage of. The player would basically be able to decide exactly what they wanted. Its also a lot of work for the team for something that we dont have time to do even in the long run.

Yes but as I believe we couldnt really port that. Its something we'd have to look into after release.

Can hordes ask or can you just give it to them while they stand there?

You just give them the region they're in. You couldn't even offer to settle hordes deeper in your empire or on a different frontier like the Romans actually did.

Hordes can ask for a region, but they become instantly a settled faction thereafter and the option disappears. Horde factions become normal the moment they settle. I experimented a small amount with it. Basically, it's not a mechanic we could use here.

I really wish CA had at the least made hordes be able to settle one region while maintaining hordes elsewhere. It would have made the horde feature more interesting to me.
