Well, eventually. I won't be using XP for the rest of my life.
But no upgrade in few years, if I don't happen to get some excess cash.

Me, largely because I bought a new laptop and windows is giving free upgrades for everyone who bought an XP-system these days.

I give it few years. And if need a new windows i just reformat this HD as its five years. But on my laptop i was trying out Linux/Vista Beta 2

Few things holding me back..

I would like to upgrade my rig first.

I want to be assured that all my programs will continue to work.

I typically do not like to "upgrade" to v1.0 of anything. I'll just wait to see how the community reacts.

Right now, I am extremely content with Ubuntu and Windows XP. I'll eventually have to get Vista, but who knows, Ubuntu seems to be getting better and better.

Try Open SUSE if like Ubuntu or Ubuntu 7 RC1

When I build my new computer I will be buying Vista.
Of course, I have made the decision to wait till AMD releases it quad core cpus before I build afresh....I don't see the point in buying dual core when quad cores are just around the corner in terms of affordability (funny how prices drop when a monopoly on a product dissolves).

Yes, at the office, they will upgrade, but my home pc I would like to have on xp at the moment and later, maybe something else will come up

Is DX10 only for Vista? If yes then I'll upgrade as soon as I need it for a game or can afford a new generation video card. If no then I'll do it when I can get it for cheap, and also make sure that this isn't another Windows ME.

Yeah, DX10 is imbedded in the Vista OS, they are inseperable by design.

I'm waiting to see what how the R600 compairs to the 8800GTX, and how much the price of the E6700 Conroe drops after the release of the new quad cores. Also waiting early on for MS to drop the price of Vista itself, and to see what improvements are needed. Maybe AMD will have a competative product again by then too. After all this comes out in the wash, then I'll build a new system and the wife will get the T-1000. (Wow, talk about overkill....)

As for now, I'm leaving the T-1000/Frankenstien as it is, ba ba ba bad, yeah bad to the bone. Oh, and I'm looting the 150GB RaptorX for the new build, no way my wifes gettin that!

Other than that I think Vista looks sweet enough and the beta was impressive but I won’t be upgrading from XP atleast until end 07 or 08.

I plan to save up for a new laptop this summer and then will probably buy (if the notebook doesn't already come with) vista, assuming the computer comes with a dx10 card (since we all know laptops are impossible to modify) Man, I'm gonna have to put in a lot of hours!
