    Default Supplying the cavalry

Uthor Greystark, brother to Lord Harrion, came before the minor Lord Ashwood on a mission from the Wolf's Den.

The peoples of the Broken Branch were famed for their herding and rearing of many animals, primarily sheep but importantly for the Wolf's Den's purposes, horses. As the Lord of the Sheepshead Hills owed fealty to the Den, and had recently been assisted by Tormund and his Bloody Wolves against the hill tribes in the region, Uthor had been sent to organise a trade: horses from the herders under Lord Ashwood in return for sturdy fur and leather garments from the tanning industry that had developed in the fledgling town beneath the Den's walls. Uthor went before the Lord and made that case.

"... and so we believe, Lord Ashwood, that this trade arrangement would be most beneficial to both parties. Your men need good quality leather and our men need good quality horses. Tormund Greystark's warband would be hard pressed to maintain their sorties without a steady supply of horses."

Gently resting some pressure on Lord Ashwood, who had only recently benefitted highly from Tormund's cavalrymen lending his house their aid.

    Mod stuff

    - Trading furs, +5% income +1 Charisma. Wanting Horses, -15% hire and -10% upkeep for cavalry.
    - House Ashwood is a vassal of House Greystark.
    - Bloody Wolves solo RP had them battling nomadic hill tribes on behalf of House Ashwood prior to hearing Karhold's call for aid.
    - Uthor has +4 Charisma, +3 traits and +1 Furs.
    - AI reactions table would give this 24/20 chance based on 10/20 base, +10 vassal, +4 charisma, but we've never been in a situation where your own vassals control different trade resources to their overlord.

The Greystark party is led through the wooden gate by the guards. The keep was more of a fortified village than anything else. Fire hardened stakes ringed the hilltop where a stout palisade had been thrown up. Several tall, wooden towers defended the approaches where the herders had cut tracks on the ascent. The hill had been cleared as had most of the pasture lands around, which would force any enemies to advance without any cover of brush. Lord Ashwood met Uthor in his hall and listened to the proposal. "I think, my Lord, that we have terms." he said at last. When a wolf was among the sheep, it was best to keep the wolf happy.
