THE NEW MODEL ARMY
The New Model Army is an army created by Lord Triston Trant. The New Model Army is a new step in the evolution of warfare in Westeros. It continues the traditions and styles created by Donnel Lefford's Blackguard. With its well trained, equipped and disciplined soldiers, it is truly a force to be reckoned with. The New Model Army uses a system of equally sized regiments and companies - like the Blackguard - professional officers chosen for their military competence, army musicians, idolized regimental standards and standard uniforms.
The New Model Army is the tool forged to rise House Trant to political and military dominance, as well as to protect their beloved homeland, the Stormlands. Each regiment has their own personal standard that is jealously guarded - but each regiment carries two banners. The second is the Banner of the New Model Army, the symbol of the honour of the entire Army. The banner shows a yellow lightning bolt striking a black hanging man on a dark blue background.

| Ranks |
Lord-General
The overall commander of the New Model Army.
Current:
Lord Triston Trant
Captain-General
A group of high ranking officers regarded as the right hand of the Lord-General. These men are typically given command over strategic positions or sent on missions with overall command of a group of multiple regiments.
Current:
Ser Tommen Frey
Ser Bradamar Trant
High-Captain
High Captains are a higher ranked version of the Captain. Many High Captains command a regiment as if they were a Captain, but they are often deployed with two regiments under their command. Typically a High Captain is sent if a Captain doesn't have enough status, but a Captain-General has too much.
Current:
Ser Roderick Storm
Captain
If the Captain-Generals are the right hand of the Lord-General, then the Captains of the New Model Army are his left hand. A Captain has command over an entire regiment and are expected to maintain a high level of discipline and order in their commands.
Current:
Ser Felton Trant
Lieutenant
The commander of a Regimental Company and the lowest rank in the New Model Army. Most of the nobility in the Army enrolls at this rank, but it is not unheard of for sergeants to achieve promotion to the Officer Corps. |
| Uniform |
Infantrymen
The uniform of the typical infantryman is a woolen tunic dyed blue, a pair of studded boots and brown cloth trousers. In addition they have a polished steel chestplate, with bracers, gauntlets, grieves and a helmet with long cheek pieces. They are armed with a heater shield, a heavy halberd and a longsword.
Pikemen are uniformed and armoured in the same style, save they carry no shield, a heavy pike and a shortsword.
Elite Infantry are uniformed and armoured in the same fashion, but they carry a heavy greatsword instead of a heater shield and halberd.
Crossbowmen
The uniform of the crossbowman is almost identical to the infantryman, save they carry a crossbow and quiver instead of a halberd and shield.
Light Cavalrymen
The Light Cavalry wear a dyed blue tunic, brown cloth trousers and boots. Their armour consists of a leather breastplate, leather bracers and gloves, grieves and a steel helmet identical to the infantry helm. They carry light bucklers and a style of curved sword from Essos known as a saber. They are mounted upon coursers.
Heavy Cavalrymen
The Heavy Cavalry wear the same under garments as every other unit in the armour, and they wear the same armour as the infantry. They are armed with longswords, heater shields and lances. Mounted on destriers, they are truly a force to be reckoned with.
Elite Cavalrymen are allowed the right to carry the insignia of their house upon their shields, as they are often from noble houses. Many, however, simply choose to carry the sigil of the regiment.
Officers
Officers wear the same uniform of their regiment, or the regiment they were promoted from. The only differences are the more ornate weapons and armour, as well as the fact officers wear a sash of blue and black, and their helmets are adorned with feather plumes. |

(1000 Heavy Infantry, 500 Crossbowmen)
