Default Information Thread for Potential New Norse Faction Units - Updated 24/09 Man O' War

Information Thread for Potential Norse Faction Units

The Norscans are a distinctive race, forged of the hardiest of mortal stock and possessed of tall, broad frames and extremely muscular builds. The songs and legends of the world describe them as nigh unstoppable, and those who have borne witness to the fury of a berserking Norseman will carry the sight unto their graves. Towering in height and thick of bone and steely muscle, the strength of the Norscans is rightly regarded as legendary. The Norscans tend to keep long hair and almost universally cultivate large, wild beards, as they regard shaving as an effeminate practice. Norsemen tend to have pale, weather-beaten skin and red or blond hair, though darker hair colours such as black and brown are not rare amongst them.

In exchange for their oaths of fealty and friendship, the King grants his Jarls hunting grounds, Warriors, Thralls and treasures. Jarls are the absolute masters of their lands, but are expected to be subservient to their Kings, who tend to punish disobedience with swift and terrible retribution. When the winds of war blow, a Jarl is bound by oath and honour to come to the aid of his King and lend his warriors to the cause." A mid-to-high level Norse hero.

Shamans = A spell-caster for the norse, using runes, ice-magic and the like. They are ragged and disgusting men, dressed in uncured skins and hides, carrying belts hung with foetid fetishes, ram skulls and dead ravens. It’s from Citadel Journal.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223054205/Citadel-Journal-07

Skalds = Skalds are keepers of Northern lore, and chroniclers of the histories of the Norsemen. Part entertainer, part warrior, these individuals are held in high esteem by Norse Jarls and Kings for their wisdom and knowledge. These men recount the sagas and the deeds of the ancestors and the Dark Gods themselves, often also composing new sagas out of the feats and exploits of contemporary heroes to add to the collective history of the Norscans. As they are skilled and powerful warriors also, many Norse warleaders find it prudent to have a skald in their cohort. When the call to war is sounded, these men have the honour of bearing their leader's own standard into battle.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Norsca#Skalds

Skalds = Mid level wizard. Uses various forms of magic, and may use Illusion or Elemental magic. May use a Necromantic spell or a Daemonic spell.
    https://i.imgur.com/J176lce.png White Dwarf 107

Thegns = A mid level Norse hero.
    https://i.imgur.com/Wv7oHrI.png White Dwarf 107

Vitki = The holy men of Norse society are the Seers, or "Vitki", as they referred to in Norscan. Admittedly, many of these shamanistic spell-casters are Chaos Sorcerers who draw upon the power of the Dark Gods to fuel their divination. These priests are often the advisers of the mighty Norse chieftains, and wield great authority over the tribes due to their status as the mouthpiece of the Chaos Gods.

    https://i.imgur.com/J176lce.png White Dwarf 107

Warlord = Many Norse warlords take to raiding now and again. It is the best way of ensuring enough loot, food, drink, women and heroic tales to keep the retainers entertained through the long winters. Can wield; Great Weapons, Spears

Wyrdskryre = High level wizard. Uses various forms of magic, and may use Illusion or Elemental magic. May use a Necromantic spell or a Daemonic spell.

Ulfthegan = A mid level Were hero.

    Character Mounts
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Chaos Centaurs = Chaos Centaurs are warped by the dread influence of Chaos. Like other creatures of Chaos, they look to the day when the foul forms and twisted mass of Chaos dominates the World. Chaos Centaurs may be found galloping with Chaos armies.

    Mortals
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Berserkers = "Given the Norse predilection for drunkenness and violence, it is horrifying to think that the lawless minority of Berserkers are considered maladjusted even by other Norse. Before a fight, these powerful warriors work themselves into a battle-frenzy, ripping and biting their clothes and war-gear. In this state they are dangerous - not only to the enemy but sometimes to their own side!" May be equipped with either two hand weapons, double-handed weapons, spears, shields, light armour.

    https://i.imgur.com/7pa16tT.png White Dwarf 166
    https://i.imgur.com/J0cmnXU.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Bondsmen = "The Norse are hard fighters and hard drinkers. True to their racial ideals, warriors aspire to a bloody death in battle, thereby ascending to an afterlife of perpetual fighting and boozing. Such are the attractions presented by an eternity of drunken violence that the Norse hold few qualms when it comes to laying down their lives in battle." Can use great weapons, spears, light armour, shields, throwing axes, throwing spears.
    https://i.imgur.com/VcQzarG.png White Dwarf 107

Bondsmen Archers = "The Norse place great store in a warrior's ability with a bow. Bowmen are often recruited from the poorer warriors, as well as those who are particularly good shots." Can use bows, longbows, light armour, shields.
    https://i.imgur.com/kgpSI1Z.png White Dwarf 107

Chaos Warriors = Fully-fledged Warriors of Chaos band together into units of retainers - retainers of the gods themselves! May equip; Additional Hand Weapons, Great Weapons, Halberds
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book
    https://i.imgur.com/B8CgHYG.png White Dwarf 130

Dragonship Reavers = When winter slackens its iron grip on the North the wolfships and dragonships of the Norse invariably set sail, raiding southwards, westwards and eastwards in search of glory. I would assume Dragonships are the larger vessels and likely draw the best warriors to them and raid the furthest afield, so I’d assume these would be a more powerful, or better equipped, version of the Reaver unit.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Norsca

Grimraiders = The Grimraiders are men of this kind - fresh upon the Chaos Path and barely touched by its corrupting power. May equip; Shields, Heavy Armour, Additional Hand Weapons, Great Weapons, Flails, Spears, Bows, Long Bows, Throwing Axes
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Hunters = The norse have quite a few unspoken customs and taboos, and many young warriors find they have fallen foul of some tradition they never heard of and are banished. Living on their own in the wilderness, these men form their own communities scratching out a living from hunting and foraging. The norse treat them as an unpleasant but necessary addition to their armies. It’s from Citadel Journal. They use short bows.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223049779/Citadel-Journal-06
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223054205/Citadel-Journal-07

Huscarls = ”Huscarls are the household troops of Norse Lords. They are maintained and equipped by their masters, leaving them free to spend their time feasting and fighting. In battle they frequently form up around the army’s leader, or act as the bodyguards of heroes.” They carry hand weapons, light armour and a shield. They can also be armed with spears (so, spear+shield), or double handed weapons.
    https://i.imgur.com/QHtA0yc.png White Dwarf 107
    https://i.imgur.com/WTIhN5s.png White Dwarf 166

Karls = Reviled as weak and inferior, they are relegated to serving the Jarls, tending their fields and overseeing the Thralls. Though they do not have the prestige of warriors, it is understood that without them, Norsca would surely die. Nevertheless, Karls are free-men, not servile as Thralls are. It is entirely normal for them to own their own land, and ascend to the ranks of a tribe’s warriors if they prove themselves worthy. They are not an oppressed underclass by any means.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Norsca#Karls

Marauder Horse = Chaos Marauders are almost as powerful as the Chaos Warriors they hope to become. May equip; Lances, Barding, Heavy Armour
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Marauders = Although not as advanced upon the Chaos Path as true Warriors of Chaos, they are still blessed with awesome skills and the preternaturally power of the Chaos Gods. May equip; Additional Hand Weapons, Great Weapons, Halberds, Bows, Crossbows.
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Norse Warriors = These are the hard-drinking, hard-fighting retainers of Norse Warlords, seasoned fighters who indulge in regular raiding, pillaging and feuding. Can wield; Great Weapons, Spears, Light Armour, Throwing Axes, Throwing Spears, Bows
    https://i.imgur.com/7HMl3QK.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book
    https://i.imgur.com/J0cmnXU.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Thralls = "Thralls are the slave class of the Norse. They are recruited into armed bands in times of trouble. Such times are common and the Thralls are often armed to fight off neighbouring Norse kingdoms or rampaging Goblins. Despite their lowly status, Thralls are really as bloodthirsty as the rest of Norse society, and thoroughly enjoy the chance to suspend the monotomy of drudgery for the excitement of battle." Can use slings or javelins, also can use shields.
    https://i.imgur.com/BSFTNBc.png White Dwarf 107

Thug Horse = These are the lowliest of the human ranks of Chaos, the young and the desperate, their souls newly bartered for the promise of earthly power. May equip; Shields, Heavy Armour, Lances, Spears
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Thugs = These are the lowliest of the human ranks of Chaos, the young and the desperate, their souls newly bartered for the promise of earthly power. May equip; Shields, Heavy Armour, Additional Hand Weapons, Great Weapons, Flails, Spears, Bows, Long Bows, Throwing Axes
    https://i.imgur.com/G6JFNrN.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Valkyries = The Norse have strict customs and traditions about women, they’re expected to stay at home and bring up the next generation of warriors. Sometimes they have to defend their home while the men are away, and the blood-letting awakens the latent warrior blood of the norse. They become restless and often leave their communities, forming war bands of like-minded women who become Shield Maidens. They’re skilled fighters. They carry hand-weapons and shields, but can be equipped with double-handed weapon or bows.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223054205/Citadel-Journal-07

Whalers = Given that the sea creatures of the far north are often as twisted by the touch of the Dark Gods as any other creature, the whalers of Norsca are often made of sterner stuff than most, and thus it is that whaling is one of the few professions not directly concerned with battle that is respected even amongst warriors. Norsemen treasure the blood and fury of any endeavour, and whaling is no exception. Armed with Javelins and axes, I would think.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Norsca#Whaling

Wolfship Reavers = When winter slackens its iron grip on the North the wolfships and dragonships of the Norse invariably set sail, raiding southwards, westwards and eastwards in search of glory. In times of war, they clamber onto the Wolfships, bravely setting off for whatever battlefield awaits them, knowing that their destiny is at hand. I would assume that Wolfships are smaller than Dragonships, so perhaps a lesser version of the Reaver unit?

    Skeggi
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Champions of Skeggi = “In time, Champions of Skeggi sailed back to their homelands, bringing tales of the horrors they had overcome and the profit they had made, causing scores of longships to sweep down and begin raiding the land of the Old Ones. By 954 IC, hundreds of Norse attempted invasions of the continent, seeking to conquer it for the gold and the glory.” I imagine them being equipped with a mishmash of Norscan gear and Lizardman gear such as their weapons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Skeggi

Marauders of Skeggi = Marauders riding Cold Ones.
    White Dwarf 309

    Skinriders
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Skinrider Archers = ”They were close enough now that Malus could see the archers standing by the stern rail; broad, misshapen men wreathed in dirty grey vapours, fitting arrows to dark recurve bows made of sinew and horn. They looked like the hideous creatures of his dream, their bodies covered with ragged surcoats of crudely stitched hide that covered their arms, chest and much of their heads. His nostrils wrinkled as he caught a faint stench trailing from the fleeing scout; it was the sickly sweet smell of rotting meat, like a battlefield under a hot summer sun.”
Malus Darkblade: Bloodstorm by Dan Abnett - Chapter 15

    Cults of the Norse
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"Norscan religion is based primarily around the worship of the Chaos Gods, which are venerated by various local aspects and names both similar to and distinct to those they are known by to the scholars and priests of the Empire. Commonly, the Norscans, like the other human races who dwell around the Chaos Wastes, venerate all the Chaos Gods in a single pantheon, as a purely practical consideration in order to draw upon all of the gifts and powers of the Four Gods in order to better survive in the harsh north. In spite of this, there are many tribes that do in fact take a single Chaos God to be their patron, who is then seen as both the father and protector of that tribe. Commonly, that god is also the Patron of the chieftain. In the vast majority of Norse tribes, Khorne takes up this position, as he is by far the most popular choice of patron deity in the battle-torn North.

In addition to the Chaos Gods themselves, the Northmen religion also incorporates various Daemon Princes, fallen Chaos Champions, revered ancestors and various other lesser spirits into its traditions. Despite the presence of these additional deities however, it is always the Chaos Gods alone are ever-present and who receive the highest degree of veneration; being the core set of deities Norse religion revolves around."

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...igious_Beliefs

    Ancestral Worship
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"There is also a very strong element of ancestral worship to the Norse religion that cannot be overlooked. Indeed, the veneration of the ancestors is a tradition as old as the worship of the Chaos Gods themselves to the Norsemen, and one from which they too derive their strength and fierce codes of honour [7b]."
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...igious_Beliefs

Vitki (Ancestral Worship) = The holy men of Norse society are the Seers, or "Vitki", as they referred to in Norscan. These priests are often the advisers of the mighty Norse chieftains, and wield great authority over the tribes due to their status as the mouthpiece of the Ancestors.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...rs_and_Shamans

    Khorne
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"In general the Norse tend to revere Khorne, the Skull-King and Lord of Battles, more fanatically than the other tribal barbarians of Chaos - for the simple, brutal strictures of the Blood God's faith are pleasing to the war-like Norse, and the behavior of the various Norse tribes in Norsca, as well as the terrible Troll Country, dovetails neatly with what the Blood God expects from his followers. As a result, many tribes of Norsca take Khorne as their sole patron and most Chaos Shrines dedicated to him are found within Norse settlements."
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...igious_Beliefs

Bloodfathers = Amongst the many, many Norse clans who are dedicated solely to the bloody-minded worship of Khorne, another tradition of divination exists. One that abides by the strength of steel than the addled whispers of sorcerers: the terrible Bloodfathers. These warlike holy men are solitary by nature, and many deign to attend to the shrines and holy places of Khorne in isolation. It is whispered amongst the Norsemen that such is their strength and skill that no man can best a Bloodfather of Khorne in battle, for there is no trick of axe or sword that the Blood God has not revealed unto them.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...rs_and_Shamans

Norscan Berserkers = Berserkers are devotees of the Blood God Khorne, which is apt given Khorne's status as the Norse god of war and battle-frenzy. Indeed, in order to will themselves into the rage, the berserkers bellow the sacred battle-names of the Lord of Battles, invoking him and thus gaining a measure of his fury that they might destroy all who oppose them on the battlefield.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...scan_Berserker

Pitfighters = Another niche in which Khornates can hide in is in the pitfighting rings that are prevalent in the more lawless and morally lax parts of the Empire. Most of the individuals brought to do battle in these barbarous establishments are criminals and other wanted men. Once captured and put into these institutions, they often bring their heathenish faith with them.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...ults_of_Khorne

Skin Wolves (Mark of Khorne) = Skin Wolves with increased strength.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Skin-Wolves
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

The Bloodcursed = The Bloodcursed are unholy entities trapped in unending servitude to Khorne. They are usually created when they have offended the Blood God, they are flayed until there is nothing left but a pile of bones in a pool of blood. The spirit of the human is trapped within their blood, reforming in a mist of blood.

    Mermedus
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"Though they dominate the Norse pantheon, the Dark Gods are certainly not alone amongst the number of the dread Norscan deities. For example, there is Mermedus - a daemonic sea deity and lesser idol of Chaos believed by scholars to be a Chaotic reflection of the sea-god Mannan, is venerated amongst ferocious Skaeling sea-raiders. The Skaeling marauders make human sacrifices to the abominable god by weighing the prisoners they take in battle with leaden weights before throwing them into the ocean to drown in the sea-god's dread embrace.

When a warrior dies at sea it is said that he now wears the "chains of Meremdus", and so is his soul taken forever in that god's servitude, forever deprived the honour of feasting with the ancestors in the lofty halls of the Four Great Gods. Thus, the Skaeling sea-god is as reviled amongst the Norse as he is respected as the Lord of wind and tide."

    Olric
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"Curiously, while there exists a clear antipathy for the gods of the south due to their belief in the gods of the north, some Norscans nonetheless believe in deities with clear parallels to some worshiped in the Old World. Mermedus being one of them. However, some sources indicate the worship of a lesser deity known as Olric, who appears to be a Norscan vision of the deity Ulric, albeit one far more savage and brutal."

    Tzeentch
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"Seers and Vitki take Tzeentch, the Raven God, as their patron, and beseech the Changer of the Ways to aid them in their witchery and to one day grant them pre-eminence over the warrior-kings who lead the tribes. As most Norscan spell-casters are Chaos Sorcerers of a sort, channeling the Black Wind of Dhar to power their profane divination, it is common for them to take at least one or more of the Dark Gods as their patrons, and most commonly this patron is Tzeentch, due to his association with magic and sorcery. For the most part however, Tzeentch is distrusted by most Norscans, particularly warriors, for his cunning ways, yet as he is also seen as the god of wind and tide, most Norscans will strive for his favour before taking to their longships, in order to ensure a safe voyage."

    Chaos-Touched
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Boar Centaur = The warping influence of Chaos has thrown forth many malformities and mutations. Some of these unnatural blends of unlikely creatures defy the comprehension and descriptive abilities of a merely sane author. Such foul creatures flourish like a canker in the Wastes where they take up with other servants of the Chaos Gods. This is a creature of this kind, spawned upon some unfathomable Chaotic whim and nurtured by helpmates themselves enslaved to the ever-changing will of Chaos.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Boar_Centaur

Darksoul = Darksouls no longer house the essence of the daemon, but are deeply scarred by the experience. The Hung and Kurgan regularly subject captured slaves to terrifying rituals in which they bind a Daemon into their captive, letting it work its evil on the mortal form just long enough to destroy whatever good remained. Once the Daemon has done its work, they banish the creature and welcome the newly born Darksoul into their midst. Those who become Darksouls are forever changed, their humanity stripped from them for all time. They become wild and crazed creatures, retaining their human form but being of an utterly inhuman mind.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Darksoul

Flayerkin = These are mutants crafted from a vile blend of Marauder, shaven and hell-forged iron. They have sharp claws grafted onto their wrists which they use to slice apart their foes and scale castle walls with chains fused to their spines, leaving behind a trail of corpses as they reach the top.

    Siege Train
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"The only realistic solution to breaking massive fortifications is to employ a formidable siege train which includes siege engines of gigantic proportions capable of smashing down the strongest walls, gates and towers quickly. These machines are so huge that they cannot easily be constructed in the field. Instead, they must be manufactured in advance, often in pre-fabricated sections which can be transported in wagons, on ships, or stored until needed in fortresses."

The Giant Battering Ram = "The giant battering ram is cut from the tallest and strongest tree in the realm and shod with a massive iron or bronze head. Hundreds of men are needed to pull the ropes that swing the ram to strike a gate or fortress wall. The hides of a thousand beasts form its canopy, protecting the operators from the arrows of the defenders."

The Monstrous Stone Thrower = "This is a catapult operated by a massive counterweight which swings a long shaft and hurls a boulder a very great distance. The huge boulder will smash any ramparts that it strikes. The catapult is made of thick timbers to withstand the stress and strain, but the parts can be transported individually on wagons and are lashed togehter into a catapult in the siege lines."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Siege Tower = "Hundreds of wagons are required to carry the pre-fabricated timbers that make up the siege tower, and when these are put together the siege tower will be raised higher than any known wall. Bolt throwers shoot out of port holes on each of its many levels. A drawbridge or spiked corvus is ready on the top of the tower to be dropped on the enemy battlements allowing attackers to swarm across, constantly reinforced by a steam stream of soldiers."

    Curs'd Ettin
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Curs’d Ettin = They are fell creatures renowned in the dreaded sagas of the norse. Even in that barbarous, warp-touched land, few are as feared or reviled as they. Twin-headed abominations born of Chaos, they are the terror of the high moorlands and mountains of the North, dwelling in lonely caverns and the once-proud ruins of Citadels. Hulking and twisted creatures, they greatly resemble the more commonplace Giants in size and strength, as well as in hunger for flesh and blood. Yet they are also easily distinguished from those already brutal creatures by their horrific deformities and cruel intellects.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Curs%27d_Ettin

Curs'd Ettin Hammer-Hands = The most common of their degenerations is that their hands have been twisted into aborted mass of hardened flesh, known amongst the disparate Ettin tribes as the Hammer-Hand.

Curs'd Ettin Rune-Callers = Some Ettins are capable spell-casters, recalling dimly the tribal magic they once wielded as men. These Ettins are branded with magical runes that burn with unholy power, allowing them to call upon the various Lores of Magic, such as those of Shadow and Death. Though their power cannot hope to approach that of a true Sorcerer, the combination of adept magical knowledge and brute strength makes the Ettin even more dangerous. Such savage magicians are known as Rune-Callers.

All Trolls have been affected by Chaos to some extent, as their species is the result of thousands of years of warping influence from the corrupting power of the north. Those that are sometimes seen accompanying warbands of Beastmen, however, have been altered by the power of Chaos more directly.

Giant Troll = "In Kislev, Garagrim Ironfist has faced a gigantic troll-beast from the Northern Wastes, and unfortunately has lived to tell the tale. Though the gigantic creature, ten times the height of a Dwarf, slew scores of Slayers, the War-mourner's axes were to prove its bane and the creature was felled, it's legs shorn in two beneath its knees."

Deathgalley Warriors = The greatest of these depraved warriors lead their squadrons into battle, hoping for glory and rewards from their overlords. http://jake.ryft.org/warhammer/mowstuff/PFRulesbook.pdf

Ironshark = The Ironsharks of Khorne are perhaps the strangest and most evil looking ships in a Chaos Fleet. Each has a huge mechanical shark head mounted on its bows. They are crewed by the most crazed Chaos Cultists, and crash into their targets in a berserk battlerage.

    http://jake.ryft.org/warhammer/mowstuff/PFRulesbook.pdf

Plagueship = They are hideous to behold. They are huge, rotund vessels lashed together from mildew-ridden, slimy planking. They fly vast, ragged and rotting sails from their uneven and splintered masts.

    Slaanesh Navy
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Hellrammer = They are lithe, low ships armed with a huge iron spike to pierce their enemies’ hulls. Little adorns their uncluttered decks as needless decoration would only slow them down.

The Accursed = Grotesque half-men that had long since lost their grip on the slippery slope to daemonhood, the Accursed were seen as gifted by their tribesmates and cursed by everyone else. The ugliness of these Forsaken warriors was matched only by their raw fury and resilience in battle.

Default Re: Information Thread for Potential New Norse Faction Units - Updated 24/09 Man O' War

    Special and Named Characters

Here is contained a full list of every possible Legendary Lord or Legendary Hero that I could find for the Norse, excluding those who are long dead. I have split them into different categories for each Norse Faction and whether they suit being Lords or Heroes, so it is easier to know which they are best suited to being added to, if someone wished to add them to the game. Without further ado, here we go.

    Lords
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Fraener = ”Wulfrik hung back as he heard the berserker’s voice. Fraener had been a great war-chief of the Aeslings, a man who had borne the favour of the gods upon his flesh. He had led his raiders deep into the Wastes, preying upon the Kurgan tribes and looting the ancient dolmens of the beastkin. If this was Fraener, then the gods had abandoned him somewhere along the way, casting him aside like a broken toy. From a mighty Chosen, marked by the gods with their favour, his mind and body had degenerated into a creature of madness, a debased Forsaken.”
Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner 11

Hakka the Aesling = ”First from the west came the brazen-armoured warriors of Hakka the Aesling, his axe-men drawn up in brutal column, each accompanied by packs of blood-crazed Gore-spawn and flaying hounds snapping at their leashes.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...FktWlFnTkNnZ28 Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos

Ogvaldr the Aesling = ”The dark templar lost his Bronze Company to the last man in his attempt to bring Ogvaldr to battle again in the great depression known as the Odea-Ossis or ‘Arena of Bones’. By the time he met the Aeslinger’s warband again it was a shadow of its former self. Many of his best had been immortalised in stone with a single glance of the cockatrice that haunted the Inconsolable Mountain. With some regret, Archaon ended Ogvaldr the Aesling on the Arga Floe and with even more watched the daemon blade Snaga lost to a bottomless crevasse in the ice.”
Archaon: Everchosen novel by Rob Sanders

Prince Sveinbjorn = ”There were a number of Aeslings present as well, pale-skinned marauders from the northern reaches of Norsca. Wulfrik found his gaze drawn momentarily to a black-haired Aes with gaunt features and jewelled rings about his fingers. There was no mistaking the hate in the dark Aesling’s eyes.”

Ejsgard is largely uninhabited even by the hardy Norse, it is the realms of packs of wolves, snow trolls and dire wolves. During long periods of solace he studies ancient lore, composes sagas and worships the gods. Sturmjarl uses his great spellcasting abilities to shroud his home in thick fogs and spells of illusion, to keep the wild animals and unwanted guests away.”

King Viglundr = ”Almost lost amid the finery of his throne was King Viglundr himself. The king was a tall man, his long hair faded by age into a steely grey, his plaited beard adorned with golden combs and ruby beads. Though humbled by time, there was yet a powerful body beneath Viglundr’s royal robes. In his youth, he had earned his father’s favour by breaking the necks of his seven brothers with his bare hands. Years later, he had sent the old king to his barrow in the same way.”
Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner

    Lords
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Seer Agnarr = ”He was old, so old that even the elders of Ormskaro could not remember him as ever being young. His head was hairless and wrinkled, like a turtle’s egg, his face like dried parchment across the bones of his skull. Eyes frosty with blindness stared vacantly from Agnarr’s colourless face. The seer wore a heavy sealskin robe, the bisected head of one of the creatures framing his shoulders. He leaned heavily upon a staff carved from troll bone and behind him he dragged the twisted abortion of his left foot. It was more a shapeless mass of flesh than anything else, though there was some affinity to the webbed foot of an albatross about it.”
Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner

Sigvatr = ”Alone among the crew this grizzled old warrior would dare to look at their captain in such a fashion. Alone among men, would Wulfrik allow him to do so. The old warrior was of the Sarls, a veteran marauder named Sigvatr. In his time, Sigvatr had been many things: war-chief, mercenary, bear-hunter, pirate and slave. Of all the things he had been, Sigvatr took the most pride in being the mentor of Wulfrik Worldwalker.”

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Broendulf the Fair = ”A tall blond Norscan dodged back as the other warrior blindly lashed out at him, falling into a fighting crouch as he fell back. There was hate in the blond giant’s eyes as he met the furious gaze of Wulfrik, but it was tempered by the man’s own sense of shame. Among the Sarls, Broendulf had always been known for his sharp wits. Broendulf had been captain of Viglundr’s household guard, a mighty huscarl in his own right.”
Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner

Hjordis = ”In the midst of the maids there was one who did not look away, a tall, lissom woman dressed in a flowing gown of wolfskin, her golden hair twisted into long coils that hung to her waist. Her youthful face flushed with colour as she caught Wulfrik’s attention, a twinkle shining in her lustrous azure eyes.
Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner

Rundulfr = ”More disturbing to Wulfrik was the sight of a wizened old Sarl clad in sharkskin vestments. His face framed by the open jaws of the shark-head hood, the elder stared at Wulfrik with the single amber eye that gleamed at the centre of his forehead. This was Rundulfr, Ormfell’s seer. Wulfrik felt his skin crawl as the mystic’s cyclopean eye studied him. Had he come to ensure the fight would be fought fairly and according to tradition, or had Viglundr brought the seer so that his magic might sway the outcome?”

Two green points of light burned where the beast’s eyes should be and the flesh of the hood ran down its dark cheeks in a mockery of tears. Default Re: Information Thread for Potential New Norse Faction Units - Updated 24/09 Man O' War

Magical Weapons, Armour, Amulets, Scrolls and Other Items

This section deals in those magical items that can be used by this faction. This is by no means a full list, I doubt I'll ever get that, but it will provide modders with information if they wish to add new magical weapons, armour and items into the game to be used.

    Common Magic Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
If you follow the link below you will find dozens of magical items that are commonly found in the Old World (and beyond).

    Kadon’s Scrolls of Binding
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
When a storm of magic breaks, it isn’t merely battlefield sorcery that increases in power. All manner of spells and items dormant for decades suddenly crackle into vibrant life, eager to have their power unleashed on an unsuspecting world. Chief among these are Kadon’s Scrolls of Binding; each scroll was crafted with a particular beast in mind. These came from the Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum, in the chart in that book it listed each monster for each faction as either Abhorrent, Binding Scroll or Kinship, these monsters here are all but those that are Abhorrent to this faction. The Scrolls of Binding that may be used vary from race to race, the following are those that may be used by this faction:

    Binding Scrolls

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Ancient Stegadon = Ancient Stegadons are amongst the largest and most ferocious of their entire race. The eldest Stegadons have grown yet thicker hides, larger horns and tower above even their own pack. Over the ages, some of their fiery temper has cooled and, as they often outlive their Skink crews, they gradually become more accepting of new handlers.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Ancient_Stegadon

Basilisk = The most potent weapon in the Basilisk’s arsenal is their deadly gaze. Renowned in folklore across the Old World for its lethal nature, the Basilisks’ sickly pale eyes are able to focus the destructive potential of their poisonous soul, withering their prey until its skin and flesh slough away.
    https://www.fichier-pdf.fr/2012/11/0...eview/page/43/

Bears = The bear shares his life with the people of the oblast and shares their struggles. When winters are harsh, he goes hungry just as they do. When spring comes again, he takes his young to the river to play just as they do. In summer’s bloom, he trains his young to hunt, and he hunts as well as any man. The only difference is that the bear hunts men, and men hunt the bear.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Bears

Bile Trolls = Bile Trolls were tainted in ancient days by consuming the rancid corpses of a defeated Nurgle-worshipping horde, and now suffer a twisted, hellish existence; poised in an eternal struggle between the formidable regenerative powers of their unnatural metabolism and the most potent plague-gifts of the Rot-Lord.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Bile-Trolls

Boar Centaur = A few Boar Centaurs became the object of experimentation by chaos dwarf Artisans, and were subsequently enslaved upon the machines of the chaos dwarfs, providing the motive power for their fiendish war engines.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Boar_Centaur

Bonegrinder Giant = Gargants whose sheer size, stupidity and propensity for drunken, ill-tempered violence makes others of their kind seem positively mundane by comparison, Bonegrinder Giants are walking catastrophes capable of levelling an entire town without breaking a sweat—assuming they can stay on their feet long enough.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Warhammer-Giant

Carmine Dragon = Carmine, or Encarmine Dragons, are a corrupted variant of the Dragon race known famously for its dark crimson colour as a result of an over-exposure to "Death Magic". Contrary to popular belief, Carmine Dragons are actually not a separate sub-species of Dragons, rather these Dragons are born this way when a Dragon egg has become saturated by Shyish, the Wind of Death. When the unborn dragon is exposed to this, the death magic is gathered and magnified within the heart and soul of the dragon once it is born.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Carmine_Dragon

Emperor Carmine Dragon = Same as above but far more powerful and can cast spells.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Carmine_Dragon

Carnosaur = Carnosaurs are large apex predators that have terrorised the darkness of the primordial jungles since the dawn of this world's existence. Considered by many as the ultimate jungle hunter, with some growing nearly two stories tall, these massive reptilian beasts are powerfully built and highly aggressive creatures, with long, muscular hind limbs and a heavy tail that is used to balance its enlarged and powerful skull.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Carnosaur

Chaos Dragon = A Chaos Dragon dimly resembles its uncorrupted kin. It has a massive bloated body that splits into two long trunk-like necks that end in heads of horns and fangs. One head smokes with the fires that burn in its gullet, whilst the other sends plumes of acidic gasses into the air to scorch the land. Thick scales cover the body in places, but in others, its organs and muscles are revealed, pumping the corruption through a system of exposed veins and arteries. Its fiery heart beats within, sending showers of sparks onto the ground as it passes.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dragon
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Young Chaos Dragon = A younger, less experienced and less powerful Chaos Dragon.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dragon
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Great Chaos Dragon = An older, more experienced and more powerful Chaos Dragon.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dragon
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Emperor Chaos Dragon = An incredibly powerful Chaos Dragon that is huge, and is able to cast devastating spells.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Dragon
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Chaos Giant = Chaos Giants are twisted, monstrous humanoids that have divulge from the rest of the Giant race and became warped into a creature that possess a greater prodigious appetite for violence.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Giant

Chaos Siege Giant = A mutilated, half-insane creature whose body has been armoured against attack by layer upon layer of heavy iron and bronze plates. These are firmly secured to the unwilling Giant by heat-fusing, riveting and nailing them deep into the Giant's flesh, and in some cases in bolting them directly into its massive skeleton.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...os_Siege_Giant

Chaos Spawn = Once the first mutation takes hold, the creature that was once now faces the inevitable dissolution of his mind and will, becoming something less than yet more than mortal. The fate that awaits nearly all surviving mutants is to become a Chaos Spawn, a gibbering abomination existing only to serve the whims of its infernal masters.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Spawn

Chaos Spawn (Khorne) = A spawn dedicated to Khorne.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Spawn

Chaos Spawn (Nurgle) = A spawn dedicated to Nurgle.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Spawn

Chaos Spawn (Slaanesh) = A spawn dedicated to Slaanesh
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Spawn

Chaos Spawn (Tzeentch) = A spawn dedicated to Tzeentch.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Spawn

Chaos Trolls = They are malformed monsters whose lack of intelligence is as legendary as their great strength, as well as their unthinking ferocity and indiscriminate appetites. All Trolls have been affected by Chaos to some extent, as their species is the result of thousands of years of warping influence from the corrupting power of the north. Those that are sometimes seen accompanying warbands of Beastmen, however, have been altered by the power of Chaos more directly
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Troll

Chimaera = The three-headed Chimerae is one of the most fearsome of all Children of Chaos, a beast whose progenitors were so warped that it is now impossible to say what manner of creatures they might once have been. Chimerae are more susceptible than most monsters to the twisting power of Chaos. The heads of some breathe fire in the manner of Dragons, whilst other heads sprout razor-sharp fangs or jaws that drip with a poisonous slime.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chimerae

Cockatrice = The Cockatrice is a repulsive Chaos-influenced beast with sorcerous capabilities. While this curious creature has very fast reactions and a great number of claws, it is not very strong, martially skilled or even particularly resistant to damage. However, the sorcerous capabilities of this monster allow it simply turn the assailants into stone with a simple stare. Enemies should not ever look it in the eye if they hope to emerge victorious. Even if they manage to wound the agile beast, it is likely that it will simply fly away, prefering to live long then die hard. According to Monstrous Arcanum it has 'kinship' with the Beastmen.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Cockatrice

Culchan = Huge, flightless, carnivorous birds that live on the grasslands of Lustria. Prized by pygmies, I’d imagine these as a flock of them.
    https://www.scribd.com/document/1170...attle-Bestiary

Dark Emissary = A Dark Emissary is a former Truthsayer, a sorcerer from the isle of Albion, that uses a specific strand of Chaos Magic, granted to them by their lord and master, the Daemon Prince Be’lakor. They can raise Fenbeasts.
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Dark_Emissary
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Fenbeast

Dark Pegasus = It is from these eyries that the Dark Elves steal young Pegasi to serve as steeds, knowing that the adults are too savage to be trained, the Dark Elves steal the young.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Pegasi

Dragon Ogres = Aeons ago, the elders of their race made a pact with the Ruinous Powers, embracing damnation in order to save themselves from a slow decline into extinction. They were given eternal life, and in return, the entire Dragon Ogre race put themselves at the command of the Dark Gods. According to Monstrous Arcanum it has 'kinship' with the Beastmen.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Ogres

Dragon Ogre Shaggoths = Dragon Ogre Shaggoths are living legends of carnage and devastation. As a Dragon Ogre ages, it becomes ever larger, growing stronger and more powerful. As long as it can find lightning to refresh its body and revitalise its mind, there is no limit to the size one can reach. According to Monstrous Arcanum it has 'kinship' with the Beastmen.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi..._Ogre_Shaggoth

Dread Maw = With their circular mouths, studded with rows of sickle-shaped teeth, Dread Maws can seize and devour a fully armoured man in seconds. Often, smaller prey is swallowed whole, but even the largest creatures will fall foul of the Dread Maw's ravenous appetite. Bursting forth from beneath the ground and latching on with their hooked teeth, they can tear their way inside the greatest of beasts, eviscerating them from within and quickly hollowing out their ruptured carcass.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-IE/Dread-Maw

Dread Saurian = Dread Saurian Of all the reptillian nightmares that inhabit the jungle-shrouded continent of Lustria, Dread Saurians are one of the most feared; an echo of ancient days when huge beasts such as they did battle with the forefathers of dragons for supremacy. Immense creatures, larger than the towering Carnosaur, Dread Saurians are few in number and sacred to the Lizardmen, and the fury of each that prowls the fetid jungles is moderated only by the arcane power of the ceremonial armour that bedecks them.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Dread-Saurian

Fenbeast = Fenbeasts are large sorcerous constructs assembled from material gathered from marshes and swamps where many have died in battle. They are unnatural creatures that reek of stagnant marshes and have the touch of the grave about them. The presence of a Fenbeast often indicates the presence of a necromancer or other kind of spell caster, often one with grim intentions. Fenbeasts, being all but devoid of will, are not imaginative opponents, but this can change with a skilled handler.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Fenbeast

Fimir Balefiend = Listed in the Monstrous Arcanum lists, an evil sorcerer of some kind.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/File:FimirBalefiend.jpg

Fimir Noble = As with other Fimir warriors, Fimirach Nobles are armoured with plates of spell-forged bronze fitted to their hunchbacked bodies and wield Baleglyph weapons in combat, either in the shape of great double-handed mauls, or single-handed maces and curving hatchets, held one in each hand.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-FI/Fimirach-Noble
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Fimir Noble (Great Weapons) = Same as above, but with Great Weapons.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-FI/Fimirach-Noble
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Fimir Warriors = Fimir are loathsome, one-eyed reptilian creatures, infamously degenerate and malign and possessed of dark powers. Fimir Warriors are armoured with plates of spell-forged bronze fitted to their hunchbacked bodies and wield Baleglyph weapons in combat, either in the shape of great double-handed mauls, or single-handed maces and curving hatchets, held one in each hand. Each Fimir Warrior also has a formidable weapon in its muscular tail which ends in a natural bone club with which it can smash any foes who get in close with bone-breaking force.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Fimir-Warriors
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Fimir Warriors (Great Weapons) = Same as above, but with Great Weapons.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Fimir-Warriors
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Focus Familiars = An impish familiar accompanying the Sorceress, through which she can direct her powers. This allows her to target enemies further away and out of sight.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Focus_Familiar

Giant = Once a Giant has cleaned up all the available food within a region, Giants would move on to find more fertile and unspoiled lands, often leaving behind the bones and husk of many ruined villages in his wake.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Giant

Giant Spined Chaos Beast = Big-ass chaos spawn? Or a Beast of Nurgle?
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/G...ed-Chaos-Beast
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resourc...-nurgle-en.pdf

Golems = Golems are self-moving magical constructs. They are not truly intelligent, but they can respond well to different events within their remit. Thus, a warrior Golem is good in battle but cannot comprehend social interactions at all, while a servitor Golem would be an excellent servant but could not learn a new culture and might not even know to run away in battle.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Golem

Great Eagles = The vision of Great Eagles is so sharp that they can clearly watch the movements of ground animals from miles away. Correspondingly, they are capable of executing devastating ambushes wherein they attack an opponent from such a great height that their target isn’t aware of his danger till their claws sink into his flesh.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Eagle

Great Stags = They are magical beasts that are closely connected to the most ancient of forests. It is said that when a Great Stag emerges from its dark arboreal shelter, great deeds are at hand. Thus, in a great many lands, the appearance of a Great Stag is thought to signal the onset of portentous times. This has led many an unscrupulous wizard to bind a Great Stag to their will purely as a means of gathering wealth and support from their more credulous allies. That such plans inevitably backfire in a spectacularly gory fashion — the Great Stag invariably chafes at servitude to an unrighteous master, and will likely trample the fool to death the moment the spell lapses — seems to serve as little Oiworning to the next charlatan.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Stag

Hagranyms = The Hagranyms are the predatory mounts of those Orcs that have made the mountains of Bretonnia their home. The Hagranyms are not just simple animals; many are more intelligent than the Orcs riding them. This is one reason why all attempts by Bretonnians to tame them have failed; the Hagranyms refuse to cooperate and are clever enough to cause all kinds of problems. The other reason is that all Hagranyms are bloodthirsty killers, delighting in slaughter for its own sake as well as for food.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hagranyms

Harpies = Harpies are vicious and spiteful, displaying only the meaning glimmerings of intelligence and, even then, only malicious, purpose. Innately cowardly creatures, Harpies band together in great sky-borne flocks, which roam high above the mountainsides and valleys in search of prey defenceless enough to risk attacking.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Harpies

Hawks of Miska = Great blue hawks of the World’s Edge Mountains. It’s from Citadel Journal.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/221544459/Citadel-Journal-15

Hippogryph = The Hippogryph species inhabit the upper reaches of the Grey Mountains, occasionally prowling the green lands below for prey such as sheep and cattle, although they have also been known to hunt Humans, Greenskins or just about any creature than cannot quickly hide from its vision.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hippogryph

Hydra = The Hydra is a titanic beast of the mountains, whose ill-tempered and ravenous nature has proven the doom of many an unsuspecting morsel. Indeed, so ferocious is the Hydra that campaigning armies often make wide detours to avoid intruding on such a beast's bone-strewn lair. Those that march on regardless do so either out of confidence in their battle-prowess or ignorance of the Hydra's savagery.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/War_Hydras

Incarnate Elemental of Beasts = Summoned through savage and secret rituals known to few humans outside the initiates of the Amber Order of Wizards — and dark lore has it the Bray Shamans of the unholy Chaos Beastmen herds — the Incarnate Elemental of Beasts is known in legend as the Bloody Hidesman, the Horned Man or the Faceless Hunter. It is a towering, half-human figure that embodies the ferocity and merciless hunger of the wild and contains within it the turbulent spirits of numberless predators, both animalistic and cruel.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Incarnate Elemental of Death = Those who call forth an Incarnate Elemental of Death risk bringing about their own untimely demise, for to summon such a fearsome creature is to invite death itself unto themselves. Eerily silent save for the whisperings of the grave that follow in its wake, the Incarnate Elemental of Death is a nightmarish apparition
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Incarnate Elemental of Fire = Known in the lore and legend of the Empire as the Charred Ones, the Black Harvestmen, and Jack O’Cinders, stories speak of the wrath of the wizards of the Bright College during the brutally fratricidal wars that wracked the Empire in centuries past, where these conjured creatures were used wantonly to destroy entire towns and villages that had provoked the ire of one or other Imperial faction, laying swathes of the land to ash-strewn waste.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Jabberslythe = The beating of the Beastmen’s war drums often serves to draw Jabberslythes from their lairs, for they know that there will be rich pickings indeed at such times. The sounds of braying, shouting or even of celebration can be enough to bring a Jabberslythe lolloping and flapping from its lair, and they are always hungry.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Jabberslythe

Jaguars = The Lustrian Jaguar is a large animal, larger than any living big-cat from our world. They cannot be ridden, but if captured young and carefully hand-reared they can be kept as pets, guards or animals of war.
    https://www.scribd.com/document/1170...attle-Bestiary

Kharibdyss = The Kharibdyss' digestive juices are ferociously efficient, and can dissolve flesh, metal and bone in a matter of minutes. The gemstones, however, are curiously resistant to the attentions of the monster's gullet. Indeed, the belly of a slain Kharibdyss is often something of a treasure trove, full of whatever magical possessions adorned its victims at the moment of digestion.
    [U]http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Kharibdyss[U]

Magma Dragon = Primordial and ferocious creatures, Magma Dragons are known famously for their extremely thick obsidian scales which radiates a constant glow of white-hot heat. What they lack in numbers, they make up with juggernaut strength and the ability to hunt down some of the largest predators to roam the land.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Magma_Dragon

Young Magma Dragon = Young, inexperienced and smaller Magma Dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Magma_Dragon

Great Magma Dragon = Larger, more dangerous Magma Dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Magma_Dragon

Emperor Magma Dragon = Immensely powerful Magma Dragons that are capable of casting spells.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Magma_Dragon

Mournfang = Aggressive predators that stalk the icy slopes, Mournfang packs are led by the largest of their kind and, working together, they can hunt and kill anything that lives in that harsh domain. Mournfangs have a notorious tenacity that makes even the most powerful of creatures think twice about confronting them. Ogres' tales tell of defiant Mournfangs blocking cave entrances or refusing to give ground and every tribe has a story about a beast continuing to fight long after drawing its last breath.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...rnfang_Cavalry

Mourngul = Dreadful tales are told around huddled fires of those lost in the killing cold of a mountain winter, driven by famine and pain to hunt their own companions and former friends for their meat and the warmth of their blood. There is no salvation for these damned souls, for the horrors in which they indulge cannot save them and they become things neither dead nor alive, condemned to an eternity of empty hunger and terrible isolation.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Mourngul

Power Familiars = A Power Familiar is a familiar that attracts magic power to its owner, who cannot be one of the Blood Dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Familiar

Preytons = They are a savage and hateful breed of creature that haunts the forested lands of Bretonnia. So renowned is their ferocity that sighting of Preytons will draw knights from many miles around, seeking to prove their valor by slaying the beasts. Mighty and winged creatures of Chaos, hybrid in form like the Chimera, Preytons bear upon their vaguely equine heads a pair of blackened and serrated antlers which have caused foolhardy knights to mistake them for majestic Great Stags, much to their error.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Preytons
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Preytons (Filth Encrusted Scales) = A Preyton with scaly skin save.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Preytons
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Preytons (Forest Stalker) = A Preyton with the Ambush deployment rule.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Preytons
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Preytons (Insane Bloodlust) = A Preyton which is afflicted by Frenzy.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Preytons
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Razorgor Herd = As with all children of Chaos, Razorgor are disfigured by hideous mutations, but they generally have the aspect of a nightmarish, gigantic boar covered in vicious spines, coarse hair and boasting lethally sharp tusks and fangs.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Razorgors

Rhinox = Like a horned mountain with legs, the Rhinox is a foul-tempered, enormous beast that can wreak havoc when roused. Being so large, they are understandably strong and resilient, with the coat of fur thick enough to deflect blows. A charging Rhinox rumbles like thunder, and its hooves churn the earth like an earthquake. It takes a brave man to stand against the charge of Rhinox cavalry.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Rhinoxen

Sabretusk = Although the sabertusk are predators, there have been reports of them being tamed and used by Ogres as hunting dogs, or companions to their masters.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sabretusk

Spell Familiars = A Spell Familiar is a familiar that memorises spells on its master's behalf, offering its master a better choice of deadly spells to unleash in battle. It is never used by a Blood Dragon Vampire.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Spell_Familiar

Spined Chaos Beast = A smaller, weaker version of the Giant Spined Chaos Beast
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/G...ed-Chaos-Beast
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resourc...-nurgle-en.pdf

Stegadon = Stegadons are mighty beasts that have dwelt within the primeval jungles since long before the coming of the Old Ones. They are bulky creatures whose heads are covered by armoured crests, out of which project massive horns. With bony scales and spikes shielding their bodies, there are few predators that dare challenge them.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Stegadon

Stonehorns = Stonehorns are massive, horned, woolly beasts endemic to the Mountains of Mourn, that the Ogres tame and use in battle.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Stonehorn

Sun Dragons = Few young Dragons are hatched now on Ulthuan. The youngest Dragons are referred to by the Elves as Sun Dragons, in reference to their hot tempers and the rich, warm hue of their scales.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Moon_Dragon

Moon Dragons = Those Dragons that surpass the Sun Dragons in might and enlightenment are known as Moon Dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Moon_Dragon

Star Dragons = The oldest and most powerful of Ulthuan's Dragons are referred to as Star Dragons, for they are truly as ancient as the very stars of the firmament. While any Dragon can savage an entire regiment of warriors, tear a Manticore apart or rip the head off a Wyvern, a Star Dragon is so physically powerful that it can battle against even the Greater Daemons of Chaos and prevail.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Moon_Dragon

Toad Dragon = Toad Dragons are huge, repulsive, and tainted primeval creatures that are a mutated off-shoot of the more pure-breed Dragon race. These creatures are known to be very few in numbers, and are usually confined largely to the trackless, otherworldly fens known as Cold Mire under the coruscating skies of the uttermost north.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Toad_Dragon

Veteran War Hydras ‘The Claws of Khaine’ = If a War Hydra survives and remains with the same Beastmasters for long enough, they can become a truly fierce fighting team. Hydras are intelligent enough to learn from each battle, and a good beast master can refine their abilities with rewards and lashings. For notable battlefield successes, generals may reward their beast masters with minor incantations to augment their Hydra’s already impressive battlefield prowess. Recognisable on the battlefield by the number of adornments and tropics, experienced Hydras are a terrifying and unpredictable foe. Has a random ability; Fetch (The Hydra will nominate a hero/lord and endeavour to bring it’s corpse back to its owner), Escort (Bodyguards a unit), Battle Lover (Impetuous, always charges off to the enemy), Chameleon Skinned (can hide itself), and Bloodthirsty (aggressive).
Found in White Dwarf Issue 260

Warhawks = Many large birds of prey cover the forest, especially where where it covers the foothills, ravines and crags of the Grey Mountains. These hawks and buzzards often grow to be far larger than the similar species elsewhere in the Old World. Some are so big and have such a broad wingspan that they can carry a rider on their back.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Warhawks

Warpfire Dragon = Spite-filled and ruinous creatures, they delight in destroying and mutilating their foes with blasts of Warpfire exhaled from the burning morass of ruinous energies that seethe within their bodies, the mere proximity to which can kill. Even in death are these mutated creatures deadly as their demise brings about a raging blast of unleashed fire to scorch the land around them.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-IE/Warpfire-Dragon

Young Warpfire Dragon = Younger, less powerful versions of the Warpfire Dragon.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-IE/Warpfire-Dragon

Great Warpfire Dragon = Older, more powerful versions of the Warpfire Dragon.
    https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-IE/Warpfire-Dragon

Warrior Familiars = A Warrior Familiar is a familiar that accompanies its master and fights to protect him. This magical bodyguard usually takes the form of a diminutive warrior or a tiny monstrous creature.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Warrior_Familiar

Wyvern = Wyverns are cannibalistic predators that are known to be a distant off-shoot of the Dragon race. These creatures have been known to be oppurtunistic hunters, able to eat just about anything from rotting carcasses to bloated bodies amongst other filthy habits, making the Wyvern one of the most foul-smelling creatures to ever plague the World's Edge Mountains.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Young Wyvern = A young, less experienced and powerful Wyvern.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Great Wyvern = An old, highly experienced and deadly Wyvern.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

    Kinship

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Chaos Warhounds = Drawn to the lure of fresh meat, Warhounds often prowl around encampments searching for lone or vulnerable creatures to attack. These slinking predators have an innate connection with the Beastmen of the forests, and freely wander through the filthy and bonestrewn encampments that serve as lairs for each warherd.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Chaos_Warhounds

Chaos War Mammoth = These massive creatures, whose footfalls shake the earth like thunder, are capable through sheer bulk and roused fury of demolishing buildings, trampling forests flat and crushing anything smaller than themselves into an unrecognisable, bloody smear. Although not actually evil as such, they are entirely belligerent and uncaring beasts that cut a swathe of destruction wherever they go, a factor magnified a thousand-fold by the fact that when they have young they travel in communal family herds, are fiercely territorial and respond to any other creature that manages to gather their notice by smashing it into the ground, or if it is a large enough monster in its own right, impaling it with huge tusks the size of mighty tree trunks.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...s_War_Mammoths

Curs'd Ettin Gibberers = One of the Curs'd Ettin's heads has degenerated into infantile imbecility, drooling and wailing constantly, making enemies lose leadership around them.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Curs%27d_Ettin
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Curs'd Ettin Scaled Horrors = Amongst the Curs'd Ettin clans living close to the Chaos Wastes, some are born with scabrous scales, while their blood is rancid and poisonous to any it touches.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Curs%27d_Ettin
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Curs'd Ettin Man Scyther = Less common than hammer-hands, these have wicked bone growths or talons that slice through the enemy.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Curs%27d_Ettin
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Curs'd Ettin Rune-Callers = Some Ettins are capable spell-casters, recalling dimly the tribal magic they once wielded as men. These Ettins are branded with magical runes that burn with unholy power, allowing them to call upon the various Lores of Magic, such as those of Shadow and Death. Though their power cannot hope to approach that of a true Sorcerer, the combination of adept magical knowledge and brute strength makes the Ettin even more dangerous. Such savage magicians are known as Rune-Callers.

    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Dragon = There are many different variants of the dragon species.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon

Young Dragon = Young dragons aren’t as powerful as older dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon

Great Dragon = These are a lot more experienced and powerful than your standard dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon

Emperor Dragon = Indeed, the only recorded occasions on which Emperor Dragons have seen defeat have been when many thousands of foes have been arrayed against them, or some sorcerous trickery was employed. If few warriors can be counted on to defeat an Emperor Dragon, there are still fewer individuals capable of taming one. Even the famed Dragon Riders of Caledor were never able to tame the oldest and greatest of the Emperor Dragons.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Emperor_Dragon

Frostfiend = But they are very real. Luckily, they make their home in the snows of the far north—and some scholars believe they are a part of those snows, as the Treemen of Athel Loren are with their forest. Due to their white fur, these bat-winged monstrosities are invisible amongst the blizzards in which they fly. Thankfully, they tend to shriek with bloodlust when their heat-sensitive eyes detect their next meal.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Frostfiend

Manticore = Manticores are huge, leonine beasts that soar on leathery wings. They are amongst the most powerful of all the predators that live in the north’s mountain ranges.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Manticore

Merwyrm = The mages of Lothern are able to summon forth and bind the beasts of the deep, imposing their will upon the creatures’ primitive minds. The Merwyrm is a rare example of such a beast that is capable of fighting on land, and this distant relation (some would say ancestor) of the dragons of Caledor is a truly deadly and terrifying foe. This is from the Storm of Chaos Lothern Sea Patrol Army List, so should be limited to that faction.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/175292173/Wfb-Storm-of-Chaos

Pagowyrm = Other rare sub-breeds are known to exist, such as the Pagowyrm which dwells in the frigid seas of Naggaroth.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Sciowyrm = Other rare sub-breeds are known to exist, such as the Sciowyrm found only in the deepest ocean trenches. They are masters of the primordial darkness that surrounds them in the depths.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum

Skin Wolves = Things of pure nightmare that were once men, Skin Wolves, draped in tatters of human skin, are terrors of incomparable malice and fury, able to shred their victims to ribbons with their long-clawed fingers and feast upon their flesh with their fang-studded canine snouts.

Snow Trolls = Snow trolls are excellent trackers and follow their prey for hundreds of miles if necessary. They don’t wield weapons but having wickedly barbed claws. It’s from Citadel Journal.

Thundertusk = Their hulking mass exudes an aura, a subzero blast of arctic air so cold it congeals blood and freezes their prey. Thundertusks advance as relentlessly as a winter storm, using their numbing airs to slow their victims down, allowing the beasts to bring their cumbersome but crushing mass to bear.

Fozzrik’s Floating Fortress = ”Though Fozzrik’s magical aptitude led him to become a wizard, he never lost his love for architecture. Many of the Old World’s cities have been built around immaculate structures that Fozzrik created from stone and sorcery, but more prized by far are his floating fortresses - buildings that move under their own power and sprout defences to repel intruders.”

Living Deadwood Staff = ”Arboreonecromancy is a little-practiced branch of wizardry - any mystic crazed enough to attempt it normally transfers his attentions back to raising zombies and skeletons, rather than undead trees. However, legends tell of the Archmage Sycamo, ‘The Daemon Carpenter of Estalia’, who not only perfected a method of reanimating trees from their residual elements, but also filling them with astounding vigour. Much of Sycamo’s work has, fortunately, been lost to the intervening aeons, but the Living Deadwood Staff never stays missing for long…”

Windcatcher Prism = ”This peculiar bauble was crafted long ago, its purpose very much tied to storms of magic. Rockcharmer’s Flute = ”Androgast Gildheim was the first man in the Empire to master this granite flute, but its origins lie hidden in the mists of time. Arabyan Puzzlebox = ”This elegantly crafted container houses many hundreds of glittering gemstones, each with the power to harness the Winds of Magic if used in the correct manner. Alas, the user can never truly be sure that the compartment he has opened will contain the gems he needed.”

Black Book of Ibn Naggazar = ”Ibn Naggazar was a brilliant, if somewhat maniacal, Arabyan sorcerer. Whilst it is unknown whether his madness sprang from isolation, too many attempts at creating intoxicating ‘elixirs’ or the honeyed promises of whispering Daemons, there can be no doubt that he was utterly insane. No rational wizard would create a book inked on the skin of his closest family, much less constantly follow its advice.”

    Lore Information Regarding Norsca

When a series is being continuously updated for a quarter of a century there is bound to be a massive amount of lore that has been created for it. This is an attempt to collate important snippets of lore that I have found during my research into units. I am presenting these in note form rather than in quote form due to the sheer amount of information that is potentially able to be displayed here, but I hope that it will prove useful or interesting to you regardless.

    General Information
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - They are a numerous and influential race of men.
    - They are barbarians, working the land and fishing cold northern seas.
    - They're great seafarers and traders.
    - They're hardy warriors and fearsome pirates
    - Scholars claim the norse are an uncoordinated gang of drunken thugs. The norse would heartily agree with this.
    - The norse are proud of their barbarous reputation.

https://i.imgur.com/FwYVzVZ.png Warhammer 1st Edition Forces of Fantasy

    - Mammoths were once common creatures before the Slann brought the planet closer to the sun, warming the climate and driving back the frozen wastes.
    - Norscan’s hunt mammoths and present their tusks in tribute to ambassadors.
    - Norscans capture infant mammoths and raise them to serve them.
    - In times of peace the crew of a war mammoth earn considerable sums from their association with Norsca’s rhubarb growers.

    https://i.imgur.com/fhfNHX9.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

    - The ambition of every norse warlord is to inspire a saga and enter into legend
    - Few shores are safe from their ravenous warbands
    - Many warlords take to raiding as it is the best way to keep your retainers interested

    https://i.imgur.com/J0cmnXU.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

    - The norse are hardy barbarians whose wild drinking is legendary in the south.
    - The norse hunt all kinds of ferocious animals including wolves, bears and monstrous bison. They wear their skins as trophies.
    - They spend their lives feasting and fighting.
    - They often fight mock battles when no real battles are possible, but these often turn real.
    - They have bristling beards and plaited hair. They're big, hardy men with bulging muscles.
    - They're feared and respected as warriors and often sought as mercenaries.
    - Berserkers are extremely dangerous.

    - Norse rarely use crossbows and never use gunpowder.

    https://i.imgur.com/tXunE3n.png White Dwarf 83

    - Thralls are the slave class of the Norse.
    - Thralls are recruited into armed bands in times of trouble. Such times are common and they are often armed to fight off neighbouring Norse kingdoms or rampaging Goblins.
    - Despite their lowly status, Thralls are really as bloodthirsty as the rest of Norse society, and thoroughly enjoy the chance to suspend the monotony of drudgery for the excitement of battle.
    - The Norse are hard fighters and hard drinkers.
    - True to their racial ideals, warriors aspire to a bloody death in battle, thereby ascending to an afterlife of perpetual fighting and boozing.
    - Such are the attractions presented by an eternity of drunken violence that the Norse hold few qualms when it comes to laying down their lives in battle.
    - The Norse place great store in a warrior's ability with a bow. Bowmen are often recruited from the poorer warriors, as well as those who are particularly good shots.
    - Huscarls are the household troops of Norse Lords. They are maintained and equipped by their masters, leaving them free to spend their time feasting and fighting.
    - In battle Huscarls frequently form up around the army’s leader, or act as the bodyguards of heroes.
    - Given the Norse predilection for drunkenness and violence, it is horrifying to think that the lawless minority of Berserkers are considered maladjusted even by other Norse.
    - Before a fight, these powerful berserker warriors work themselves into a battle-frenzy, ripping and biting their clothes and war-gear.
    - In this state Berserkers are dangerous - not only to the enemy but sometimes to their own side!

    - A ship that has both Ulfwerener and Berserkers aboard is a fearsome opponent indeed.
    - Huscarls are the household troops of the Norse Lords.
    - Huscarls are maintained and well equipped by their masters, and are fiercely loyal fighters.
    - When a lord takes to teh sea, his Huscarls go with him.

    Warhammer Heroes: Wulfrik by C. L. Werner - Chapter 1, 8

    Saga of Hagmar Wyrmschlager
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Hagmar Wyrmschlager is a legendary hero of the northern Empire who also appears in the folklore of Norsca
    - None know when it was that he was alive
    - It’s said that a great and terrible dragon was laying waste to the forests of the southern coast of Norsca
    - After a lot of warriors were sent to kill the beast and died, a smith offered to kill it for the king. The king’s hall roared with derision, but as no other warrior would take his place, he took his hammer and headed after the dragon

    https://i.imgur.com/SvnIBfc.png White Dwarf 97

    - Hagmar slew the dragon and then divided up the dragons hoard into three; one third to the king, one third to build a great temple to Taal and he kept the third
    - He went on to become a master blacksmith, using the bones of the dragon to create three magical items; Hagmar’s Dagger, Hagmar’s Mail Coat, Hagmar’s Buckle

    Isle of Morhaut
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Eradorius was a servant of Chaos during the years of the First War – a conqueror and a master of arcane lore who was a terrible foe of Aenarion and his twisted kin.
    - He fled from his castle of iron and bone and took refuge on a distant island in the northern sea.
    - According to legend he laid many sorcerous wards around the Isle of Morhaut, meant to destroy anyone foolish enough to approach it.
    - The isle’s steep cliffs were piled with the broken debris of hundreds of years of lost ships.
    - Twin towers that jutted into the sky like broken teeth.
    - The shoreline of the cove was piled with the jumbled detritus of countless shipwrecks and upon the dark and refuse-strewn waters rode almost a dozen ships at anchor – Skinrider ships.
    - High on the cliffs overlooking the cove rose a ruined citadel, crumbled and broken by the weight of centuries and the ceaseless gnawing of the sea wind.
    - Pale fires burned in the citadel’s windows and the arrow slits of the malevolent towers on the sea walls.
    - Everywhere lay the crushing pall of enormous age, as though this were a place the rest of the world had forgotten long, long ago.
    - It is present in another place, another plane without sun.
    - “Stone upon stone Eradorius built his tower, but its foundations he laid on darkness eternal, where there are no paths and no sun to mark the seasons. And there he laid passageways where there were none before, each to his own desire and not bound by the ways of the living world.
    - The crooked passage he made straight and the straight he bent back upon itself so that no man knew the way into his sanctum save he.
    - Yet still Eradorius was afraid, knowing the fate that waited for him. So he made a guardian to watch over the twisting ways and commanded that it let no man pass into his sanctum, but that it should feast upon them and grow in strength. This it did, growing in strength and bestial cunning and its tread was like thunder in the twisting ways and its breath was like the desert wind.”

    King Viglundr
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - The king was a tall man, his long hair faded by age into a steely grey, his plaited beard adorned with golden combs and ruby beads.
    - Though humbled by time, there was yet a powerful body beneath Viglundr’s royal robes.
    - In his youth, he had earned his father’s favour by breaking the necks of his seven brothers with his bare hands.
    - Years later, he had sent the old king to his barrow in the same way.
    - No coward, King Viglundr. His dislike for battle was a practical one, for he preferred to win by subtlety what others sought to take by the sword.
    - It was said he bore the mark of the Raven God upon his heart, and few who became trapped within the coils of his plots doubted the Trickster’s touch.
    - It took a keen eye to pierce the mantle of deception he wore and discover the truth behind the mask.

    Ormskaro, Capital of the Sarls
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Whenever Wulfrik returned to Ormskaro it would mark the beginning of a festival for the Sarls.
    - There would be grand feasts and much dancing and singing.
    - But the highlight of the festival would not be in the mead halls but in the Wolf Forest.
    - Here, every freeholder, bondsman and huscarl in the town would gather to watch as the fiercest warriors in Norsca did battle that they might join the crew of the Seafang.
    - Ormskaro was nestled within one of the fjords cut into the coast of Norsca. It is sprawled across the shore, up to the cliffs and flatlands beyond.
    - The deep waters of the fjord made Ormskaro a perfect harbour for the fleet of sleek dragonships anchored off her beach.
    - The town itself was a confusion of earthen longhouses and timber mead halls. The wattle huts of thralls squatted beside the stone keeps of jarls without pattern or reason.
    - The tents of traders and craftsmen were nestled in little clumps wherever space permitted, gaudy banners proclaiming the nature of their wares and services.
    - Close to the shore, upon a great timber platform, whalers busied themselves sectioning meat from an immense black whale while others drained oil from the carcass.
    - High upon the slopes that overlooked the fjord, a palisade of enormous logs formed a wall, sectioning off the entire summit of the hill.
    - Behind the palisade, a second wall rose, this of cut stone, all but obscuring the great tower of granite it surrounded.
    - The tower was ancient beyond the memory of men. Some whispered that it had been built by that race of giants who ruled Norsca before the birth of the gods.
    - Others said it had been raised by the gods themselves to mark the land.
    - The tower had become the seat of Ormnir, the great king of the Sarls.
    - From Ormskaro, the Sarls became a mighty people, among the strongest of the northmen.
    - When the great army of Asavar Kul marched against the weak kingdoms of the southlings, it was Ormnir’s grandson Ulgra Troll-eater who led the Sarls into battle.
    - From the burning husk of Erengrad his warriors brought back enough stone to raise the wall around the tower – an enduring testament to their victory over the Kislevites.
    - The Bloodfield is a training ground for Ormskaro’s warriors and a place where Sarl youths would prove their manhood in fierce contests.
    - Whenever Wulfrik returned to Ormskaro it would mark the beginning of a festival for the Sarls.

    - But the skin sloughs from their diseased bodies like putrid wax and they suffer constant agony unless they can clothe their raw flesh with untainted hide.
    - They infest the northern sea like a plague – even the other raiders pay them tribute in fresh skins and sacrificial victims.
    - Legend has it their strength is so great and their sorcery so potent that they have claimed the most dangerous island in the region as their stronghold; the Isle of Morhaut.
    - Skinriders never surrender and they don’t always die unless you sever/crush their heads.
    - These raiders were not merely skinless, but also hideously bloated and gangrenous, their bodies twisted by the corrupting power of the vile god they worshipped.

    - Feytor was born into a small farming family in the Empire.
    - When his younger siblings fell sick with plague, he prayed to any god to save them. Nurgle answered.
    - The family was driven out because of their plagued appearance, and eventually they settled in a cave and were happy for awhile.
    - Ostermark soldiers burned his family while he was out hunting, this drove him to kill them and the north.
    - The Wolf Brothers saw his arrival as a sign of the gods, and once they met him, they turned their worship to Nurgle.
    - Feytor eventually slew the Svolos Wolf, Chieftain of the Wolf Brothers and renamed them the Decayed Ones.
    - Afterwards he began to conquer neighbouring tribes, always leaving behind one survivor in those tribes that did not join him.
