    Default Baktria

I know that Baktria is not in the map but it is one of my favourite faction with its indo-greek culture. I think it would be a fine and unique addiction to the mod. So are there any possibility of its addiction in RS3? And there is a way to enlarge the map in the East?

Basically, to enlarge the map you would, in essence have to create an entirely new one, and also the unit limit has been reached or almost, so you would have to remove some units to make room for the Baktrian ones. Me thinks it more likely that someone making a swap faction submod for a Baktria campaign would be more likely to happen than it to happen officially.

Do you know if anyone is working on it?
My dream is a RS3 with Baktria and Epeiros!

leoni is working on a submod that is more Hellenistic than Roman centered. It has Baktria and some new ones. The main problem just is, the developers of RS had chosen factions that were most important or had a big impact in the starting year 216 B.C. That's why the faction roster is what it is for years. But dvk mentioned that he could add more factions as swap factions. Only a question of time.

Interesting. Do you know the name of the submod? And when it will be released or further details? How will he manage the map and the new units?

You can look in the submod section here. The mod is called "When worlds collide". According to his postings, he's working on unit stats right now. There are plenty of pictures and his world map is amazing. He hopes that he can release the first version this year.

I've seen. Unfortunately the map covers until Italy. I'm searching a submod that adds Baktria but covers the entire map of Roma Surrectum (plus the Baktria region). Do you know if anyone is developping such a submod?

Uhm, well that is the problem. The RSII map is already completely filled, thats why it isn't possible to expand it further. The map can only consist of to a maximum of 199 regions. Leoni cut off most of Europe, so that he can expand the map more to the east. This game has, sadly, too many restrictions and thats one of them. As a modder, you've to be very selective with the factions and how the world map has to be, as both have an easy to reach limit. And lets be honest, the EB map doesn't really go farther as leoni's map...

I know the problem..... But adding Baktria means adding 1 or 2 province in the east removing for example 1or 2 region in Italy or in Greece. I think that this would be the easiest solution. And Baktria can be added as a swipe faction. Do you know if there is yet a project like this? Or if Baktria is planned as a swipe faction in future releases of RS3?

Well, that's up to dvk. He decides how's it going further with the mod. Maybe he sees this thread or you can ask him directly. He still has so much planned, but he's the only one of the former team that works on their project. Swap factions are planned, with Baktria as one of many possibilities. But I'm very sure the campaign map will not change in the future. RSIII brought an amazing graphical rework of this beautiful map already.

Is it really so difficult adding few regions in the east, adding Baktria means adding only a region or two in the east....Really is it planned as a swap faction? How could add it without changing the map? And finally which new factions are planned in the future?

The only way right now is to change one or two existing regions for Baktria, but as I said that won't happen in the near future. Then there's the faction itself: making buildings, adding unique traits, making characters and finally creating the units, plus balancing them. Pretty much for only one guy, who was mostly involved in scripting, traits and buildings. The team doesn't have one or two that made the units anymore. Baktria was suggested as swap faction, but not definetly. The focus for the mod now is improving it, expanding the script and trait rework. New content probably comes after all this is done or as parts. So you can hope atleast.

Almost every single faction imaginable has at some point been suggested as a swap.

If I remember correctly, one guy wanted to see an Illyrian faction, Numidia as its own faction was suggested, then some wanted Athens, which is now there in the Swap Roster in beta state, or some of the Greek Leagues like the Aetolia or the Boiotia League. So, some very cool ideas. Maybe, when there's more activity going on again on this amazing mod this could be discussed again.
