Default The Many Wedding Bells of Westeros

OOC: This thread will be used to chronicle my attempts at marriages for House Estermont and House Whent.
The first attempts will go to Estermont which has three available suitors (Baelor, Lorys and Melessa)
The second attempts will go to Whents which have far more suitors (Roger, Harren, Lysa, Ravella and Cersei)

    =====================

With the Stormlands relatively quiet since the Trant's involvement in a failed rebellion against the King, Lord Estermont begins to look at his surroundings. His brother, Lorys, was a Lord in the domains of House Buckler with the Estermont's home territories being surrounded by powerful neighbors such as House Wyldes and House Swann. An Estermont delegation rides north to the Wylde's keep of Rainwood, which is led personally by Lord Baelor. The Lord Estermont politely requests an audience with Lord Wylde, hoping to secure a husband for his sister, Melessa, or a bride for himself.

Lord Estermont is received by Lord Wylde, an older man with more sons and daughters than most.

"Welcome, Lord Estermont." He began cordially, "What brings you to my castle?" Already, he began to guess as to their purpose - Lords did not travel about idly.

Baelor bows to Lord Wylde before rising to gaze upon the older Lord.

My Lord Wylde, for generations and as long as history has been written, we have shared this peninsula and served House Durrandon and House Baratheon as the defenders against eastern corsairs and dreaded Dornish raiders. We have stood fast against seaborne invaders and those who dare to view our lands as ripe for the plucking. And over that time, our house has been joined in marriage time and time again.

The Estermont noble smiles at Wylde.

With such uncertain times, the southern parts of the Stormlands must be secure for Robert Baratheon and we should perform that part together. Let us unite our house once more through marriage and blood.

Wylde idly scratched his beard, weighing up the potential gains of a match. Estermont had recently been rewarded with Hadlow Keep, a sure sign of their rising status, and they were neighbours. Estermont's cause was only aided by the fact Lord Wylde had more daughters than he knew what to do with.

"Very well." Wylde laughed, "My children put a ruinous strain on my purse. It would not sit ill with me to lose a daughter to such an esteemed house, Lord Baelor. Consider your offer accepted."

Baelor smiles at Lord Wylde, bowing his head once more. He looks to the older noble after raising his head.

Who does your Lordship consider the best match for House Estermont? I have a sister, Melessa, who is a beauty among our family and then there is myself, who desires to father an heir in the hopes of one day rebuilding the House of Estermont to former glory, which suffered greatly, like so many other Stormlords during the recent conflicts. I offer my hand and the hand of my sister to your household, Lord Wylde.

Wylde squinted momentarily, attempting to recall his children and all of their damned names.

"My eldest son would gladly accept your sister's hand, my Lord Estermont. His name is Addam, and he attended the tourney at Lannisport."

Baelor bows his head, grateful for the offer of Ser Addam to his sister.

A match made by the Seven truly then. For my sisters admire knights above all others. May their marriage be happy and fruitful.

For a few hours, Lord Wylde and Estermont would thrash out the details of the marriage contract, ensuring everything was in order. Lord Estermont would leave satisfied that the marriage would be completed in a moon's turn.

OOC: Alright time to finish up the first part of this roleplay.

Days after word of his brother's betrothal to House Trant and his sister to House Wyldes, Lorys would make his way to House Buckler's holding in Bronzegate. The Guardian of the Kingsroad requests an audience with Lord Buckler.

Lorys would bow his head to Lord Buckler, showing due respect for the man who was his High Lord given Hadlow Keep's position.

My Lord Buckler, I have to come to offer my services and oath to you as your vassal. As Lord Guardian of the Kingsroad, I shall serve both you and the Stormlands, all in the name of House Baratheon. May my actions reflect kindly upon my brother, Lord Baelor Estermont and that of your domain, my lord.

With the formalities given, Lorys raises his head and rises to speak directly.

I hope your Lordship approves of my appointment to Hadlow Keep.

    OOC: rephrasing.

Lorys would approach Lord Buckler and bow to the man, kneeling on one knee before rising to speak directly.

My Lord Buckler, I hope you and your keep have fared well. I can see Bronzegate is as beautiful as ever, standing as the key bastion into the Stormlands.

He would then continue to speak, not letting business remain on the sideline.

As the Lord Guardian of the Kingsroad and Lord of Hadlow Keep, I feel that I should build up friends and connections within the area in order to better perform my duty. Your power is strong and your lands immense. Let us join hands and our houses so that we may defend these lands together for our lord, Robert of the House Baratheon.

After a long pause Lord Buckler says, "If it is a marriage you want then a marriage you will get, my sister Emily is of a marriageable age."

Lorys offers a smile before bowing his head to Lord Buckler.

You honor me as your future brother-in-law and as a lord to another lord. I will happy take your sister into my household and live my days out together with her.
