    Default Assassins of EB II

Yesterday I started a new Hayasdan Campaign. At the second turn I didn't pay the Selucid tribute, and they declared a war.I beat them in the battlefield. They send a lot of assasin to me.Than those assasins killed my entire family,at the last point they killed my King and campaing has ended. My line is ended.

We have to do something about this assasin's,they're too powerfull. We need to reduce their power.

Ooooooor you will have to factor in that the AI will try to beat you in more than one way and prepare your own spies and assassins for the coming covert warfare. :

the assassins you recruit are also OP. I killed off the Numantians as Rome without ever having to fight them.

I kinda find it amazing that some people experience this, as I've never had so much trouble with suffering assassinations myself.

From one Hai player to another, however, I suggest paying their tribute for the early game. My starting economy was always good enough to afford it, and it will only get better when you unite the Caucasus. Let besieging Mtskheta be your trigger for war with the AS, as your final Caucasus conquest. By that point, you'll be strong enough that the AS won't be able to do something like that with their assassins, me thinks. And if they can, you'll be able to afford your own legion of agents.

As I've said in another thread what you guys need to counter assassins is spies just put a spy in a city or in the army to caught and kill their assassins, of course if it's an assassin with high subterfuge you'll also need a spy with high subterfuge. I didn't had any problems with my Hayastan campaign and unlocked all possible reforms, no problem (campaign was on Hard or Very Hard not sure now).

Yeah, the only way to effectively counter enemy assassins and spies is with your own assassins and spies. Of course you'll have to pay for them, whereas the stupid AI can recruit as many as it wants, because the AI never runs out of money. Ever. It's only limitation, from what I can tell, is the amount of settlements each AI faction possesses, since they can't recruit more than one spy or assassin from the same settlement during the same turn.

I know that my agents are limited by the amount of markets and forum's I have. Aren't the AI's the same? AS would probably have a lot of forums therefore enabling it to recruit many more assassins than the average faction...

Yeah, but the AI eventually builds all of those markets, because like I said before, money is never an issue. They always have cash to burn, every turn. There's no such thing as the AI going "into the red," budget wise.

Actually no, the AI has a cap on how many it can build which may be 3 or 4, I can't recall.

What the AI does is build (rather haphazardly) a building every single turn, the hope is that they will eventually build the right things and manage (somehow) to build the proper buildings that are necessary for their troop composition to gradually improve in response to the players.

As others mentioned, own spies and assassins are solution to this. As Rome i conquered Alexandria, and nearly every turn they kept sabotaging great market there that cost several thousand to fix, so i parked my assassins there to kill theirs, but couldn't see them. Then brought spy, and could see em all surrounding that city, couple turns later my assassins had killed all theirs, and gained plenty of subterfuge in process which helped later on wipe out last of my egyptian rivals whose outdoors wandering family member would have otherwise turned to roaming landless horde upon capture of their last settlement.

I think it's safe to say that explosive blackpowder won't happen, though. Unless the EB II team was cheeky enough to hide it as an Easter Egg.

gotta love it when Sarmatians have 3 assassins in Tolosa sabotagng buildings for no particular reason lol. the Ai uses agents like idiots so as long as you keep spys and assassins around you your fm should be safe for the most part.
