Re: Political Marriages
Despite the past between the Reach and the Stormlands, Lord Meadows permits the entry of the Trant delegation. The Lord Meadows as a bald man of fifty-five years, known to all as the Old Flower of the Grassy Vale. Martyn was his name and, in his youth, he was a chivalric knight and an energetic male. Now his years have flown by and he sits upon the seat of his ancestors, gazing at Lord Triston with milky eyes.
My Lord Trant, what brings you to the Reach?

Re: Political Marriages
Triston gave a bow in respect. Martyn had been a well known tourney knight and warrior in his day. "My Lord Meadows, I'm here looking for potential marriages for my daughters. Your legacy is well known and respected, and I hoped to join our lineages, despite the differences between the Reach and the Stormlands over the years.

Re: Political Marriages
Lord Meadows does not seem relatively intrigued by the offer presented to him. Within his walls, it was known that the Old Lord was not entirely ready to forgive the Stormlanders for their occupation of the Reach and their friendship with the Mad King. Although his lands were not removed from the Reach, Martyn was a made who believed in the integrity of the Reach, something that was dashed away by Aerys and the Stormlords.
I am not sure that such a union would be beneficial to the good of my lands, Lord Trant. You Stormlords once more seek to gain a footing in my lands it seems and that is something I do not appreciate.
OOC: You still have a chance to make him change his mind since you are outside of the Reach.

Re: Political Marriages
"With the greatest respect, Lord Meadows, who can truly control a madman? Had I moved against Aerys I would have been a traitor - and liable to die the death Aerys reserved for traitors. It was outwith my power. I have no desire to see your lands removed from the Reach. I believe in the integrity of the Seven Kingdoms. Tearing them apart for vain and big headed anger is simply foolish. I would also like to point out that had we Stormlanders refused Ashford, we would have been traitors as well. We gave back the stolen lands once we were no longer under the iron fist of the Mad King. Please, my Lord, I beg you to reconsider."

Re: Political Marriages
OOC: I adjusted everything with modifiers gained from your words. But this roll was worst than the one before.
The withered face of Lord Meadows brightens up as rage fills his person. He had gone from the Old Flower to the Vicious Thorn.
It doesn't matter whether you could have done something or not! You Stormlords benefited from the exploitation and partitioning of the Reach! GET OUT OF MY SIGHTS, STORMLANDER!

Re: Political Marriages
Triston sighed and walked out. He couldn't wait for the next war so he could just conquer the damned place. What now, Triston wondered? He headed out of the castle and pondered his next action. Perhaps a minor keep? Thinking quickly, he headed straight for Hastwyck. He wanted to arrange a marriage before news of Meadows' refusal reached that far.
---
Arriving at Hastwyck, Triston requested a meeting with her lord.

Re: Political Marriages
OOC: A roll was performed to see if the news of Meadows' refusal arrives before Trant does.
Trant is refused the audience by Lord Haswyck. If inquired, the servant states that Lord Haswyck will not go against his liege's wishes, indicating that Lord Meadows got to him before Trant could.
---------------------------
OOC: If you plan to continue searching for potential brides, I will have to say stop and try again after the weekend at new places. News will have traveled to other keeps faster than Trant could move and, by now, the whole of the HL knows and soon will bordering HLs of Grassy Vale.

OOC: Grrrrrrr. I'm so unlucky. I wanted the claim so I could march in when war started but it looks like I won'te be that lucky. Back to the drawing board. I'll leave it for a while and start up on Sunday then.
