    Default The Hunt For Laden

Rangers in India's Assam state have issued a shoot-on-sight order on a killer rogue elephant named after al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Laden has trampled 14 people to death in the past six months in the north-eastern state, officials say.

Assam's wildlife warden Chandan Bora said the order had been given to kill the rogue elephant within a week.
    This sounds familiar...

But he said: "We've hired a licensed hunter to kill the rogue elephant
but so far Laden is untraceable.

"The hunter, accompanied by about five forest guards, is still in the jungles trying to hunt down Laden."

Laden was branded a "rogue" - a violent, isolated elephant

    I tell ya...
This is exactly how a true elephant should behave.
Its acting on its basic Elephant instincts and scripture (i.e. Evil devil driven ones).
They plan to kill us all, they must be stopped!

And if they can't find Laden they can always kill some African elephants instead.
It will pull media attention away and the general public doesn't know the difference anyways.

Does this belong in the mudpit?

Shame they are going to have to kill that elephant, but I guess they have to do it since the animal has taken to killing humans.

A terrible shame. I read an interesting article about elephants in India and Africa a few weeks back. Animal psychologists are finding more and more evidence that "elephants don't forget" and that elephant tribes are actually becoming more and more traumatized by the destruction of their environment, rather than the argument that the increase in elephant related deaths being related to closer proximity to humans.

exactly, elephant young especially who have to live through the death of their mother grow up to be traumitised and more likely to enrage in their adult life and harm humans.

So I say, we should applaud Osama for managing to kill so many humans. With all our ego of being the best and most dominant animal, we should be smart enough to recognize when we've been bested and out of honor and respect for strength and ache for freedom and survival, we should pardon Bin Laden the elephant and stop seeking his death.

edit: these people should read moby dick...you cant take revenge on an animal.

Yeah, actually, I'm kinda rooting for the elephant in this one.

And elephants are also known to travel large distances back to the places where their loved relatives had died, and mourn. Like actually mourn, crazy stuff we'd never think capable in an animal.

I don't like the name though, too sensationalized...

If thats the case, then lets put a hit out on the people who named the elephant. Its not within the elephants capabilities to understand the names he is given by humans.

names are meaningless anyway. Did you know Fred Savage's real name is Fred Weiner? But would he have touched our hearts just the same with Wonder Years under a different, more tragic, name? I think so...
