Steffon Bywater, accompanied by some twenty men and women from his family's ancestral seat, quietly chart a route through the vast expanse of the Kingswood. Emerging from the confines of the sprawling forest the noble party carry on north, winding through valleys and pass steep hills, a trickle of men following the groove of the earth itself.
After days of travel, of hunting and falconry, of throwing coins and speaking to farmers, Steffon and his band find themselves approaching Stonedance, an ancient castle from before the coming of the Andals. Within were the Masseys, a bloodline with its history deeply rooted in the land.
With a smile he dispatched a rider ahead to announce his arrival, and his wish to discuss marriage with the Masseys. In his company was Falyse, his sister to which had yet to have the honour of marrying a man of her station.
