Eventually on his tour of the Stormlands Mathis Caron would arrive in the keep of the noble House Trant. This was time for the regent of the Crownlands to begin uniting them once ond for all. He had known the Lord Trant in passing but knew little about the man. It was far past time to rectify that.

Lord Caron is welcomed into the solar of Lord Trant. Jasper was sitting reading a heavy book, which was obviously an accounts book. He was obviously the meticulous and demanding type.

The Lord Regent of the Stormlands studies Lord Trant for a moment before speaking up. "How are yo doing Lord Trant? Does Gallowsgrey fare well?"

"Gallowsgrey fares well. Although I personally take offence at the King."

Mathis raises an eyebrow. He did not know this man well and would be very careful here. He had spoken words of loyalty to Steffon, but who knew where his heart truly lay, and now Steffon was dead. "What has the king done to offend?" Mathis asks carfully.

T rant closed the book with a thump. His words were soft, but his voice was bitter - more so than even the bitterest lemon. "He killed three of my five sons. He slaughtered my countrymen. He slew the man I had loved, had been totally loyal to, he slew my King - Stefano Baratheon, and he usurped the crown that belongs only to those of House Targaryen or those with the Blood of the Dragon."

Mathis nods thoughtfully considering the man's words. "Be that as it may for now Blackfyre is King." He emphasizes the words for now as though to say it would not be this way forever. "I have a task for you Lord Trant. It seems Blackfyre has taken it on himself to rebuild the palace of Summerhall without even consulting anyone. I want you to monitor the progress of the keep and keep me updated on how many men he has avaliable to deploy at any one time. I do not like having a house loyal only to him within the Stormlands borders."

For a very noticeable second, Jasper Trant's face morphed into a mask of terrible fury before he regained control of himself. His voice was cold and venomous. "I shall. He thinks he can march onto my lands and rebuild a castle without so much as telling me? House Toyne are outraged. They wish to burn the whole thing to the ground, but I have managed to prevail to their better senses. I will have Summerhall monitored morning, noon and night. In addition, if we so desired, I would be more than happy to hire a Sellsword band discretely to burn the castle. Bandits roam these lands these days, and Summerhall is a palace not a fortress."

Taking a gulp of ale, he leaned back in his chair and sighed. He looked Mathis Caron straight in the eye. "Already I am doing my best to lay the groundwork to return a rightful King to the Iron Throne. Our King Steffon was unlucky, but two Targaryen women - capable of producing the heir we so desperately need - still live. Rumour places them in Dorne. A marriage between Houses Baratheon and Targaryen would solidify Lord Robert's claim. We would have a King to back, once he had come of age. Let me go to Dorne as an emissary. Let me plan out this 'treason', as many would name it. Then, should it all go wrong, I can say I plotted alone, that I intended to kill you and seize the Lord Protectorship and then planned this marriage. Lord Caron, allow me to move down the road of pulling together houses into a faction of Reds, ready to strike when the time is right."

Mathis sighs, "No do not move against the king I do not want to risk provoking anything from him just monitor the keeps capabilities." He pauses listening to the mans proposal. "I can't stop you from going to Dorne, but I won't agree to any marriage proposals at this time. I doubt the former Queen would consent to such a match in any case."

OOC: Crap, I forgot about you being the Queen.

"Perhaps you are right. However,it is still worth a trip to Dorne to make sure we know where their loyalties lie. For all we know, the last Targaryens could be hostages. I will go personally, risking my life to hammer out a reliable faction with which to bring about the downfall of House Blackfyre.

It was merely a suggestion, should we take a more aggressive stance in the future. I will make sure we know everything about that Castle Palace, Lord Toyne will be glad of his revenge when the time comes. I wish you good luck, my Lord, we will need it in the days to come."

"Go to Dorne if you wish, I doubt the welcome your receive will be warm." He doubted either the Dornish or the Queen had forgiven them for what had happened to Rhaegar. "Keep me informed of any updates on the completion of Summerhall, and see to building up your military to full strength." With that Mathis Caron turns to leave contemplating the meeting he just had. He was not sure of what this strange man was up to, and was unsure if he trusted him yet. There were few he felt he could trust.

Trant had one last thing to ask. "What did Steffon do to Rhaegar? I can't imagine him ever killing a child, but the boy wasn't sent to the Citadel, and he vanished. You were his right hand, you must know something."

His eyes widen in surprise at the mans question. "If he is not in the citadel then he is most likely dead," is all he says before departing. He would have to speak of Penrose of this. Last he had heard Rheagar was to go to the citadel.

OOC: This should probably have been sent a while ago

A raven, sent from Bywater despite its message having originated in the capital, finds itself at the seat of Lord Trant.

"Judging by the number of steel-clad men in the capital, such a formation to compete with the Blackguard is a commendable notion.

Tom the Butcher has lost his rights over Stokeworth in favour of Lord Myles. Judgement was supported by all but Bywater. Spin it as you will"
