Default Funeral for Lady Meera Rowan

Lord Eddward Rowan Looked at the body of his wife and wiped away a tear from his eye. The Love of his life was killed because of the gods and he was never going to forget that. The Gods the septs they killed his wife and for what reason he did not know but they killed her and they will pay for what they did. He watched as his noble vassals showed up to the funeral with their heads low to the ground. Most knew of his wife and most knew of his love for her. They had seen her at council meetings and had seen the love between them. Now he was alone and his heart was broken into a pieces nobody could put back together. He saw many people arrive for the funeral as he wiped away another tear from his eyes and made his way to stand in front of his wife body. He noticed his children and smiled at them a weak smile but a smile as he prepared himself to make a speech.

" Thank you all for coming, Today is the hardest day of my life because today I lost the love of my life. I did not marry Meera because of political marriage. I married her because I loved her with all of my heart. She was the one person that understood me. The one person that made me feel whole and knew me the best. She was a great mother to my children and a great mother anybody that asked. Even if you were a servant and needed advice you knew you could go to her. She was that kind of person. She loved being there for those in need, She loved being there for our children in which she loved so much she would do anything for. She was there when I needed her the most with the death of my mother and father and she was there when things got rough. She was always there and it pains my heart to not have her here anymore. " He said his voice low with emotion and pain. He meant every word he said, He meant every single word and it was that that drove him to punish the septons and the holy League for what they have done to his family. They robbed him of his wife and now he will make them suffer for it. He will go after every Holy League holy lord even if the king told him not too and make them pay for what they have done. He will see them all burn at the stake if he had his way. He needed to convince his Vassals again to join him in fighting the holy League once more.

" But you know who I blame for all of this. I blame the Holy League and the septons that support them. Those foolish people have caused enough problems and now they are threatening lives of those that oppose them. They do no work for the gods as they claim they do. No They work for the Drown god of the Iron Islands.. They work for the false gods of the north. it is our job to make sure the holy league and the false septons do not spread their false gods in our lands and in the realm !. We must put a end to this Holy league of the false gods and get rid of them once and for all. They are the reason my wife is dead.. and we must make sure they never have a chance to kill another wife or husband or child again !. So i ask you Noble vassals and friends.. To join me as we rid the realm of this holy league once and for all " He said in a passionate voice. He was lying to them.. But he will not tell them that just yet. He had no proof the holy league was spreading the false beliefs of the other gods.. But he would deal with that lie later.. Now he hoped his vassals agreed with him.

( Need Rolls to See if His Vassals join him against the holy League and how many of the Citizens join him as well). Eddward Rowan has + 3 Charisma )
( If possible, Can I have a roll to determine if the citizens burn down a sept or not )

[OOC: Whether your vassals follow you depends on which Holy Lords you intend to attack. The ones in the Reach or the ones in the Crownlands? Vassals are far less likely to agree to attack their own countrymen (eg kill other Reachmen).]

    Roll

    Base 10/20
+10 for being sworn to you
    +3 for Charisma
-5 for breaching the King's Peace.
    Sum: 18/20 chance.

You have 6 vassals in all, so I rolled 6 times, and only House Osgrey of Coldmoat won't back you.

    AI Vassal Militia Army

    175 Heavy Infantry
    467 Polearms
    350 Archers
    175 Light Cavalry
    58 Heavy Cavalry

    1,225 men in total

(Their Peasant Levy will be 2,625 Light Infantry and 875 Archers if you call the Peasant Levy too)

Do you intend to call your peasant Levy as well to swell your numbers? Remember it costs you 2 Dragons per point of Militia and 5 Dragons per point of Levy if you form them into an army. You don't pay for that vassal army I showed above, you get that free: only your own personal forces need to be paid for.

With Ser Patrek Hightower and young Jon arriving at the scene, the knight heard the last words of Lord Rowan and those, who participated.
Curious while alarmed he rode forward, telling his retiniue and the boy to stay back.
"What is this madness, Rowan?", the uncle of Lord Hightower wished to know, as he was in range for Lord Rowan to be understood, "Is this a funeral or a war council? What is even going on here?"

Lord Eddward Rowan heard a voice just as he was about to mingle with his guests. He turned to see a hightower family member coming towards him. He heard the mans voice and the tone of it. The man had everyone right to want to know if this was a war council or a funeral and if this was madness. Maybe it was madness, Maybe it was something that only people in grief over the loss of their love of their lives could understand. He lost everything and he plan on making the Holy League pay for her death even if that meant having to fight them all one by one. He will make them bend the knee and suffer for what they have done. But would he stop with the holy league.. He did not know but for now he had his sights set on them. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly before speaking.

" This is a Funeral Hightower a Funeral for my late wife who I loved with all of my heart. I know it is painful to hear the truth about the holy League and what they really stand for. This Holy league is telling everyone lies. They are not spreading the truth faith but a false faith and I plan on taking care of them. But do not worry I am not targeting any of them in the Reach as that is your responsibility. But i will make them pay for what they have done. They are the reason my wife is dead.. They are the reason why I lost the love of my life. I will not stand idle and watch them preach about their false gods. No I will not because for the better of the realm.. I will make sure they cease to exist. " He said the anger building up again.. He had to keep on lying about the holy league for now. He just wanted them to suffer for he blamed them for the death of his wife. Not that they were doing anything wrong but he needed a scapegoat and he found it. He looked around for his second eldest son Jon but did not see him yet. Did this hightower come by himself and where were the other Reachmen.. Did they all not care about the death of his wife.. did nobody care about the death of his wife but his vassals.

" What you see here is people gathering for a funeral and learning the truth about the holy league. I did not plan on telling them here at such a somber occasion. But the Holy league tipped my hand when they killed my wife. They should of known that killing my wife will not stop me from going after them and purging them from the realm. No they should of known it would only make my resolve stronger to see them gone. So no this is not madness this is just telling people the truth about the holy league and what they are really doing " He said in a cold voice as he looked around hoping to see his son jon but not seeing him yet.

"You wrote she died during childbirth and I fail to see this organisation being responsible for her death", Ser Patrek replied, still in disbelief, as the old man had heard a lot of stuff, but failed to see the logic in Rowan's attempt, "Look, I see it is hard to accept a loss, as I felt similiar about the death of my wife, mylord. The Seven give us the people we love, the Stranger takes them, when we have grown fond of them the most. But though it can be debated what intentions the members of the so-called Holy League have and had, I'm certain they're not responsible for deeds, being executed by the Gods themselves.
Their beliefs might be twisted, but twisted beliefs don't do miracles!"

He paused after this sentence, looking back towards the location where he left the retiniue.
"Leave this madness be, mylord, and don't make the same mistake previous Rowans made by breaking the King's Peace", he then pleaded towards the stubborn lord, "Your wife neither would have wanted you to endanger your own House in an attempt to get rid of your anger regarding her death. No wife would expect this from her husband, so tell your lords and retainers to leave the situation as it is.
If the Holy League has to be punished or to be dissolved, his grace will tell us to do so, but right now I beg you to command your men to lay down their weapons. There is no need for war and no need for House Rowan to start another conflict."

OOC: Rowan would actually see the retiniue and the boy - I doubt Patrek would leave them that far behind, if he hears already Rowan's speech.

Lord Eddward Rowan folded his arms across his chest as he listened to the man speak. His words spoke the truth. His wife if she was still alive now would have been furious with him if she knew what he was doing. The man was right no wife would want her husband to do something this foolish knowing it endangered the family. But the anger that he felt about losing his wife in childbirth.. In childbirth when she was healthy as all can be and gave him three children already. They celebrated everything the family had Accomplished and then she died 9 months later giving birth. Did the gods not like the fact that he wanted to have another child. did they punish him for some past crime he committed he did not know.

" How do you explain a pius healthy woman dying during childbirth a process she has been though three times already. She gave birth to my children before the holy league arrived and they were all healthy and she was alive. But then the holy league appears and because I never supported them... Now my wife is dead giving birth to a daughter How do you explain that sudden turn of events. The holy League claim they speak for the gods with their holy lords and high septon. How do you explain ,that now my wife is dead and why because i did not support their pretender.. I supported the true king of house blackfyre. Maybe they also are agents of the stranger.. And that makes me even more worried.. Can you imagine if they would do the same thing they did to me to the king and his family ?. No I can not nor will I allow them to do it, dont you see this is the only way we can stop them once and for all. If we wait too long they will do what they did to my wife to other nobles and I know you do not want that to happen. I do not want other nobles to go though the same pain i am doing though right now. " He said in a slightly raised voice as he looked at the hightower noble and then saw his son Jon. Jon was looking at him listening to his every word. The boy was the youngest of his children and thus he was worth fighting for and protecting. In the end he was doing this for his own family and for every other nobles family. he wanted to protect them from the holy league and there ways.

" Previous Rowans made the mistake of attacking when they had no right too. But I have a right to protect my family and keep them safe. I have a right to protect the realm and all its subjects. I have a right to protect my own vasaals and my own Lord Paramount from harm that the holy league brings with them. I am doing the realm a favor by going after the holy league.. By going after their holy Lords and making them bend the knee to the crown. Why do you call this war. When its simply dealing with the holy lords by force. If the so called holy Lord bends the knee before hand.. I will not harm him.. But if he refuses.. Well he will be dealt with accordingly. " He said as he once again looked at Jon.. His other children came over to his side and hugged him from both sides. They all missed their mother and he could see the tears in there eyes as they looked at him. Asha his daughter was blinking the tears from her eyes. His other children doing the same.

" You claim the gods have done this to my wife So I ask you this.. Why would the gods kill off someone that was very pious and very relgious ?. " He asked calmly now as he watched the other Man and waited

"No man rules over the Gods and the Holy League is no exception", Ser Patrek replied unimpressed, "The Holy League was defeated among with the chosen King of the High Septon, Steffon Baratheon.
If the Seven showed anything this moment, as mere men can't interpret their actual plans, not even the Faith in my eyes, it rather has shown that the candidate chosen by the High Septon could not best Daemon Blackfyre.
And the Seven do not support a losing man.

The Seven are cruel, but they take women, children and men any day, even if it is unexpected. Fate is not controlled by political meddlings and the Holy League is clearly a political institution of the High Septon, which has already crumbled and submitted to the true King of the Realm."

    Officially at least.
"If you attack these lords outright, the King won't back you", Ser Patrek continiued furthermore, "Neither will any Reachman except your vassals aid you, as you break the law. Right now you endanger your family by attacking men, who are not guilty of the crimes, you blame them. Leave this pointless crusade be as it neither will bring back your wife nor commit anything good.
Accept that she was taken by the Stranger, the one who will consume us all one day without any exception."

Lord Eddward Rowan growled at the man as he listened. The man had no right to speak to him the way he was. He knew about Oldtown and how House hightower was in his eyes harboring some members of the holy league. He remember the conversation he had with the Lord of house Hightower about the holy league and how the man felt not all of them were bad. But the man was wrong.. As was the man that was speaking to him now. They were blinded to the fact that the Holy League is a threat to the realm even more so that there pretender king got defeated in battle. Did nobody see the real threat this holy League truly was besides him and the king ?. No matter nothing can be done to convince him that what he was about to do was going to be wrong. So nobody in the reach supported him and he suspected he will be spoken too harshly by his Lord Paramount. But he will not stand and watch the holy League not face justice for what they have done.. No he refused too stand by and watch them get away with it.

" Why should I care what other Reachmen Lords think. clearly they do not care about me or my family since they are not here. My vassals are here and you are here.. Nobody else bothered to show up to the Funeral for my wife. How do you think it makes me feel that nobody showed up to this funeral ?. That even after all the Reach has been though and how many funerals I attended for those same Lords over the years. That none of them bothered to show up for this funeral of my wife. Clearly they do not care about my family. Hell they can not even be bothered to at least send letters of condolences which at the least they could of done. So why again should I care what they think. " He said in a bitter voice as he looked around at his vassal lords who now heard his words. He could not read them per say but he hoped they understood how much it meant for them to show up to his Wife funeral.

" The Holy League Lost there pretender King in battle yes that is true.. But that means they are even more of a threat than you can imagine. They will go to any length now to make sure the new King does not have a peaceful Reign and I refused to allow them to do that. Now it is time to strike them.. To shatter them and purge them once and for all. They are like a weed that if you do not keep in check will spread across your garden. But if you kill it at its source or around its source. Than it will never have a chance too. And that is what I am doing. " He said the anger returning once more as he remember the conversation he had with Lord High tower at the battle camp. " But I do not expect a Hightower to understand since when I spoke to Lord Hightower he made it clear he did not see all of the holy League a threat. At the time I was going to agree with him about that. But then my wife died and I just knew it had something to do with the Holy League and then I find out the Holy League is preaching about the false gods of the north and Iron Islands. And that made me even more determined to get rid of them once and for all. " He looked at the hightower and waited for the man to respond. He did not expect a hightower to understand what he was doing. That he was doing the realm a favor by attacking the holy Lords and the holy League.

Ser Patrek sighed, seeing that his time was wasted here.
"I'll have to report your deeds towards our liege, as you don't seem to understand", he stated bitter, while turning around his horse, "Your son has been delivered to the funeral as promised, but given the circumstances, I won't attend. I can only pray for your House, that you will realize your foolishness before it is too late."
