Default The Rebuilding Efforts of Summerhall

During the reign of Aerys II, Summerhall would undergo a series of rebuilding efforts, which would come to a halt after his death and throughout the resulting war. With the conflict ended and Daemon crowned King, the Blackfyre would venture to the unfinished construction and pour new gold into the rebuilding efforts. He hoped to one day reward this palace to his younger son, Haegon, and have it as it was before, a family retreat to warmer weather and more quiet surroundings. Peasants were mobilized into working crews by newly appointed overseers who would finish what the previous king began. Some materials had been unfortunately stolen by the locals, such as rock and wood, but the Crown would give all expenses necessary to see Summerhall rebuilt to its former glory. Daemon invests 90,000 gold dragons into this project, more than what was probably necessary, but he wanted a splendid finished project.

With efforts being renewed, Daemon would inspect the construction efforts to see his old home be rebuilt to renewed glory. His Blackguard soldiers were present to oversee the construction and protect the King alongside his respective Lord Commanders, Ser Frey of the Kingsguard and Ser Lefford of the Blackguard. He walks within the walls, examining its revived splendor and majesty.

OOC: Stormlords can interact here as Daemon is visiting the construction sight with his Blackguard soldiers.

Ryker surveyed the construction efforts with some interest. Perhaps it was the Frey stirring in him, the family always had an appreciation for building things. "It will be a most luxurious place to stay, sire."

Daemon looks at it as various sections of the leftover architecture are removed and replaced with something more akin to House Blackfyre such as color arrangements. Statues of kings past and stone dragons were left in place however. The Blackfyre did not want to fully overhaul the location, but enough to make it a worthy keep for his family. He turns to Ser Frey after the knight had spoken.

I plan to name my second son, Haegon, Prince of Summerhall when he comes of age. Just like his brother, Maekar, will one day be Prince of Dragonstone.

"It is a proud legacy, sire." The Lord Commander responded. He had a rough life by anyone's standards, hardly that of a high born son. "I am sure your sons will make you proud. Though, I fear that these Stormlanders may find the presence of your sons difficult to bare, and inspire them to do something...idiotic."

Daemon stops upon the ramparts, gazing out at the mountains that were to the east of them, high peaks that hid Storm's End and the heart of the Stormlands.

I hear that you, Ser Lefford, are very much aware of holding castles within hostile lands. I saw some of Aerys's letters, conferring you the lordship of Cider Hall and seemingly signing your death warrant.

Blackfyre then turns to both them, gesturing to the land around them.

This land has been royal property since the time of Daeron the Good, land bought and nurtured by funds of the Crown. The Stormlands will learn to deal with it, just as they have done for generations.

"It is a topic I have some experience in, yes," said Donnel, recalling the unhappy memories of Cider Hall, "In my experience they are not tenable positions in the long term. Summerhall will have to be well fortified and garrisoned to ensure it will last until allied armies come to its rescue."

Daemon nods in agreement with Donnel's suggestion.

When the keep is rebuilt, I should appoint a Lord Castellan to build up Summerhall militarily for Haegon and this castle's protection.

The King then proceeds into the main area of the castle, pausing for a moment to gaze the blackened room that was believed to be the epicenter of the fire.

Some of the workers speak of wraiths and shadows at night... ghosts of those who died in the fires.

After much time and money spent, Summerhall was fully refurbished and completed. It was a marvel to see this keep once more alive and intact, though workers and, now, servants still say they hear the ghastly whispers of ghosts and witness the appearance of phantoms, those who were disturbed by the construction and who had not departed to the other world. Nonetheless, it pleased the King to hear that construction was completed.
