Performance/FPS issues

Hello guys, i hope you can help me.

My System:
Win10
i5 4570
HD 7970
8Gb RAM
ME2+Kingdoms+TATW 3.2 Installed on HDD, System on SSD

It doesn't matter if i play the original, kingdoms or TATW, i always get severe lag, stutter, hiccups and low fps in battles.
I already tried running in the lowest possible resolution with lowest settings but there was no performance increase.
Zoomed out while paused: >100fps
Zooming in to a fight: <20fps

since changing the settings doesn't change anything, it seems to be a cpu issue. The i5 should be plenty fast for this game.
I already tried to run the game on only one core via the task manager but it didn't change anything.

I had the same Problems with the steam version of Rome, but since i switched to the DVD version it runs smooth as fudge.

The files in both versions are the same, hence I could only conclude that Steam itself may interfere in your case. 3.2Ghz is certainly enough to have a smooth experience.

Have you tried disabling shadows, effects and switching to shader2? Low grass also helps.
