Default Rebuilding Efforts within the Capital

Prior to the reign of Daemon Blackfyre, measures had been taken to rebuild the Dragonpit as well as, more recently, the Great Sept of Baelor. Despite his distaste towards the Faith, the victorious king continued with the efforts to rebuild the Sept in its mirror image and, hopefully, add on new additions to show his consideration towards the Faith. As for the Dragonpit, its construction was relatively almost completed. He kept with the plans initially left by Aerys II, but decided to enlarge it so that the newly constructed Holdfast would serve as a barracks and station for the newly formed Blackguard, now commanded by the Lord Commander, Donnel Lefford.

To the rebuilding effort of the Great Sept, Daemon invests 100,000 gold dragons into new wings for the building, including a rebuilt Hall of Lamps, the rebuilding of the tombs below and brand new additions such as a public prayer area for passing citizens of King's Landing outside, a wing for housing the wounded and to feed the starving, and an enlargement to the storage areas to accommodate large quantities of food for feeding the poor. What was left remaining would be donated to the Faith as a consideration. No one could imagine that such gestures would eventually turn to venom within due time.

To the final stages of the Dragonpit's rebuilding, the King invests 94,000 gold dragons to enlarge the its perimeters in order to accommodate the larger Blackguard unit with fresh quarters for the Lord Commander, officers and other persons of note within its walls. Stables, armory, smithy, barracks, and other necessities are already built in presently with further money invested into enlarging the granaries and ensuring food was properly stored for the soldiers. The Holdfast, unnamed at this point, has fresh material gathered for the work to continue to be renewed. Upon the day construction is renewed, the King himself comes to inspect it.

    ==============================

Many workers bowed at the sight of Daemon Blackfyre as he walks through the almost finished quarters for the Blackguard. Attending him were the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, Ser Frey, and the Lord Commander of the Blackguard, Ser Lefford. Members of this private army for the King were already seen patrolling the area and ensuring work was done in an orderly fashion. They also kept civilians away as this was military property and owned now by the King himself. Daemon walks through an archway, examining what would eventually be the Officer's quarters. He walks into one of the rooms, examining it further.

Seems you may live very well here, Ser Lefford. I may have to have a quarters here myself to dine with the men as I did with the Golden Company.

He then asks a worker to fetch him the overseer and ask how the progress was going of the present construction.

The Dragonpit had come close to completion during the reign of King Aerys, with the external structure refurbished, the great dome repaired, and most of the upper levels turned into barrack space for a garrison. The work ongoing now was in converting the vast lower levels, where the dragon pens used to reside, into armouries, training halls and stables. Some of the Blackguard had moved in already, in order to establish a presence and provide guards for the complex.

Donnel kept pace with the King, wearing his newly reworked armour: all black, with a red trim, to match the Blackguard. The chestplate had a Blackfyre Dragon embossed across it, with a small Lefford sigil in use as a clasp for the red cloak slung over his shoulders. Donnel's greatsword was slung over his back, between the armour and the cloak, with the pommel protruding over his left shoulder for quick drawing.

"King Aerys had several large apartments built on the uppermost level," said Donnel, who had been reviewing the plans himself at Daemon's command since taking over the Blackguard, "For senior commanders and important guests. First choice would of course be yours, your Grace."

Daemon looks upward above them for a moment before grinning at Donnel.

Best make sure my apartment is best furnished around. I will miss the battlefield when all these wars are over... but I will keep in touch with my soldiers. For without them, I would not be here.

As the new plans are rolled out, the overseer would walk in, bowing quickly to the king before approaching. Daemon gestures at the new additions.

I want these to be implemented immediately, overseer. I want this holdfast to rival the great keeps of the Seven Kingdoms!

Your Grace, this will cost a fortune and the funds given by His Grace, Aerys II, have almost run dry.

Daemon snaps his fingers as a errand boy, present with them, came over with a scroll. The King hands it to the Overseer for him to examine. He smiles at the reaction by the man.

Cost is hardly a problem, overseer. I believe this should be more than enough to finish up what else remains.

    Y-Yes, Your Grace!

The man then runs off to prepare the necessary work force and gather more crews to gain the necessary materials for the additions paid for by the King.

"There will be more wars to fight," said Donnel, "Your reign will have to be secured."

Donnel listened as the King conversed with the architect in charge of the construction work.

"What would you have the Blackguard do while in the city, your Grace?" he asked, "We have over three thousand men in all: there's only a need for a hundred or so at any one time to keep the Dragonpit's gatehouse and ramparts manned appropriately. I would propose they be used to man the Red Keep as well. Best you have men who have proven themselves in your battle line in control of the Red Keep's defences."

Aye, the plan of the Blackguard was to go where the Goldcloaks cannot go. They will travel with the royal family as their bodyguards wherever they may go. They will be the security of the Red Keep and cooperate with the Goldcloaks in maintaining the order of King's Landing. I will not be short of enemies in the time to come, Ser Lefford, and I will need to ensure my capital is peaceful and the streets safe, day and night.

Daemon would then descend into the lower areas of the complex, examining what little remained of the Dragonpit's foundation. He paused for a moment, picking up a dragon skull that had been left. It was barely the size of a human's head.

It would be best to clear out these foundations while at it. There are surely a number of skeletons down here, dragon and man alike, left by the storming of the Dragonpit during the Dance of Dragons.

"I'll make time with the Lord Commander of the Goldcloaks," said Donnel as they walked down the stairs. They entered the lowest levels, what used to be store rooms below the floor where the Dragon pens themselves were. There was ankle-deep water, and a Blackguard escort behind them holding a torch was the only source of light. They pressed down the tunnel, the low vaulted ceilings echoing the wading sound as they moved through the water. During the storming of the Dragonpit, many who had been burned by the fire or terrified by the sight of Dragons had fled down here. Many had died in the dark cellars of their wounds.

"Fair few more recent bodies down here, too: the Dragonpit was a lot of things before Aerys cleared it out, none of them pretty." said Donnel after a moment's silence following Daemon's musing.

Daemon takes the torch from the Blackguard escort, examining a corpse nearby that appeared to be a small dragon. He moves the bones slightly with his feet before picking up the head.

Maybe one of Aegon II's dragons that belonged to his children...

He spoke passively before looking around some more and venturing deeper. He comes across a large open area directly below the center of the Dragonpit. Some parts seemed collapsed by the illumination of the torch. There were plenty of bodies to be found here; most of them human remains. He examines the rock, noticing dark scorch marks from dragon fire. The dragons of Aegon II's reign were not like those of Aegon I.

The center of the battlefield. I suspect some of the larger dragons fell down here.

OOC: I guess we can go with a roll in terms of the searching of Lamentations.

A pair of Blackguard soldiers noticed the rider that examined the construction of the Dragonpit. The pair walk over, stopping the Hightower.

OOC: Are the guards around the Great Sept?
Because Mason is watching this place from some distance, not the Dragonpit.I assume even the ruined Great Sept being large enough, so you can ride bypass horses in a distance of five to ten meters away from it.

With news of the rebuilding of the capital spreading, among it being news of the Great Sept being rebuild,
Ser Mason Hightower rode with a small party of Hightower men towards the location, mustering the build in distrust. While his uncle Lord Rolland was fighting for Blackfyre's cause in the name of House Tyrell, they decided to rebuild this landmark of a young past, an old forgotten relic to which the High Septon wouldn't return anyways along with further Faith generations. The treaty was fresh, just a year old and it seems like Daemon was doing the same mistake which Baratheon did.
Kings never learn - we did not offer the High Septon shelter and an autonomous region within the walls of Oldtown so he would abbandon us. For thousands of years the Faith was inhabiting Oldtown as their first seat within Westeros, when the Hightowers ruled as Kings during the Age of Dawn. Gardener never took them from us, neither did Tyrell. Twohundred years ago the Targaryens forced them into the capital, like as if it was a cage.

Closely he rode with his party among the walls of the grand ruin, while inspecting it calm, hiding barely the anger in his face. In his eyes it was mockery - though his Lord was convinced that Blackfyre would understand the High Septon remaining at Oldtown by the contract to whom he agreed, Mason wasn't sure if this was the case.

The sound of work going on above was much more audible here due to the collapsed roof: flickering rays of light would come through the gaps, showing torchlight above, and the sound of muffled footfall, voices and tools at work could be heard overhead. Dragonfire had caused this part of the Dragon pens to collapse into the basements below.

The two picked their way across the rubble, nudging aside bones and rocks as they went, stooping to collect the odd trinket or inspect some bone that may have belonged to a Dragon. Donnel scooped up a small trinket: a Targaryen clasp.

"We should clear this rubble more carefully when the working parties get round to it," said Donnel, holding up the clasp, "There may be historical items buried beneath it, trinkets that might tell the tale of House Targaryen during the era of Dragons."

Aye, we should. I will have the overseer conduct delicate operations to clear this rubble away and ensure all trinkets are secured for examination by the maesters. Could easily be refurnished and turned into a storage room of sorts once its cleared.

Daemon waves his torch around, examining piles of rubble here and there. There were plenty of human remains certainly, crushed as the Dragonpit collapsed or under the talon feet of dragons that once sulked Rhaenys's Hill.

OOC: Yep there would be guards at either location. Blackguard moreso at the Dragonpit with a mix of Blackguard and Goldcloaks at the Great Sept.

Ser Mason stopped, while though not being fond of being stopped, he nodded towards the men.
"Fair enough", he only said, as he retreated without any resistance back towards the regular street.
