Playing as Boii hard campaign hard battles, in 2.2b.

So the romans besieged Felsina and i got these little messages, which was quite cool.

And then i noticed this roman stack on the left spawned besieging the city.

I clicked here V, as in to accept to support the citiy. I thought i was going to be at war with the Romans but no i wasnt. They still remained neutral turns later.

But the bug is that since i still was mustering my army to try to go to Felsina, the romans captured the city. BUT even turns later, the roman army that was scripted to spawn to besiege the city STILL remaining besieging it even when it was held by the romans themselves.

Also, just a nitpick, the scripted army is from the polybian era even if the romans havent gotten their reform. So it would be nice to see the script check the date or if the romans have gotten their reform, and then spawn either a polybian or camillian army.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

EDIT: The roman stack in their turn appear to have broken the siege but then immediately besieged again as its back to 4 turns before surrender.

Oh and ive just started a battle with the stack and both armies are in the battle against me, the one in the city and the one besieging the city. lol

Then, as throngs of his enemies bore down upon him and one of his followers said, "They are making at thee, O King," "Who else, pray," said Antigonus, "should be their mark? But Demetrius will come to my aid." This was his hope to the last, and to the last he kept watching eagerly for his son; then a whole cloud of javelins were let fly at him and he fell.

It looks like the Romans had already got to besieging it when the scripted part triggered.

On the army, I'm not sure whether the construction of the script will allow an event_counter check before spawning, I'll have to confirm that with Gig. It's entirely dependent on when the Romans get to advancing in that direction, which might take a while if they get pre-occupied in the south. That's why I went with a Polybian army.

Yeah the romans were besieging it with a normal stack before the scripted army appeared.

Perhaps it would be best if the script just spawned the army in the region near Felsina but then it could move freely according to what the AI intended? So it woudnt get stuck besieging the city like it happened.

If it's just spawned in the region, then it won't besiege the settlement. It'll most likely wander off elsewhere within a turn or two.

Yeah but its better than having the possibility of it besieging its own city and being stuck there forever. And though i have defeated the army already, maybe if it is left alone and the siege turns run out theres a chance of ctd when the supposed battle should start between the 2 roman armies and ruining the campaign for some.

Also on the script is there any way for making it so that you as the Boii get automatically at war against the romans if you accept to aid Felsina on that message?

There was no condition to lift the siege if another Roman army took the town (that was thought to be highly unlikely) - hence this army would continue to besiege the town in perpetuity as the assault condition would never be met. Fixed that and confirmed that we can have era based spawning of the Roman army.

Edit: that army will otherwise behave like a regular army as you experienced and as long as the army commander lives will return to besieging the settlement after any action.
