Will Byzantium be playable?

No, Ancient Empires is based around 202BC to 100AD so pretty much the fall of the republic and the height of the Roman Empire. Byzantium was around about 200 years after the end of our campaign as we won't be going into the Attila timeframe.

He means the faction of Byzantium that exists around future Constantinople, It was a Greek colony state since like 700BC. It won't be playable in AE, we can't see anything particularly unique or interesting enough about them to justify being a faction.

Ah, okay I thought he meant the Eastern Roman Empire.
