A raven from Duskendale arrives, bringing a request to open a trade route between the seats of Houses Darklyn and Westerling.

OOC: Readable in 14 hours according to the raven rules, I think? The raven would have to fly over from the Crownlands and over the Riverlands to reach the Westerlands, seven hours for two kingdoms.

A lone rider approaches The Crag, clad mostly in white with noticeable gilding along the edges of his armored plates, on his shield, and on the hilt of his sword. His crested helmet hangs from his saddle, leaving his hair free and from a distance, watchers on the walls might mistake its color for Lannister gold. He rides through the main gate, slowing his steed to a canter, and then to a walk. Upon reaching the stables, he dismounts, and the edge of his long white cloak just brushed the ground as he walked. Ser Gerold the Golden, Knight of the Kingsguard, had come to visit the man who had knighted him. Gerold was somewhat unsure of himself, as at the time of his knighting everything had been a blur, still rushing with adrenaline from the battle, he had been ushered to a Lord, who said he had saved his life. No doubt some introductions had been made, but Gerold had forgotten them, and had only been able to discover who had in fact knighted him in a chance encounter with a fellow Westerlander at King's Landing. Once he discovered that the Lord Westerling had been the man who gave him his Ser he had resolved to meet the man for real.

Enlisting the aid of a page who was milling about the courtyard, Gerold got his armor off, and clad himself in a doublet of white and gold, with the sigil of the Kingsguard picked out in gold thread across the breast. It was one of the finer garments he owned, aside from his armor, and he would prefer not to go before his benefactor as if he rode to a battlefield. He dropped a few silver coins into the hand of the pageboy as thanks for his help, fastened his white cloak once more about his shoulders and entered the keep. Upon reaching the great hall where he had been told that Lord Westerling would be waiting, he entered quietly and stood near the back of the hall, waiting for the Lord to take notice of him.

Daemon Westerling arrived at his great hall wearing the finest silk shirt and pants in the land. He looked around at his court and smiled at them as he sat at the head of the table in the great hall. He clapped his hands which singal his servants to bring out the food and the drinks. it was not long before everyone at the table was eating and drinking. He raised his cup several times when members of his court announced weddings and gatherings. He even stood up several times as well when people announced the birth of a child. it was after he stood up the second time did he noticed a figure in the back of the hall. At first he did not recognized the man. But soon he remembered the golden hair and smiled as he walked over to the man and crossed his arms across his chest in mock anger

" Well look what the winds have bought in. Its none other than the man who I knighted on the battlefield. It is nice to see you again my friend " He said with a laugh as he relaxed his arms and ordered a servant to bring them food and drinks. The others in the court were joking and making rude comments to each other and laughing. His court was in high spirits ever since his son joined the Kingsguard a great honor for his house and for his court. He noticed the man was now a gold cloak. which made him smile even more " I will never forget about the time you saved my life and I will vow that that my family and your family if you choose to have one will always be friends and allies " He said proudly as he raised his wine goblet in a toast with the man that saved him on the battlefield.

Gerold, who had looked somewhat tense, unsure as to the welcome he would receive relaxed noticeably as Lord Westerling dropped his charade of mock anger, even allowing himself a smile. He was somewhat surprised at the warmth of the old Lord's greeting, as he had not even been certain whether or not he would be recognized. No doubt Lord Westerling was not lost in the same experience of a first time battle rush that had muddled Gerold's wits at the time of his knighting. Realizing that his own lack of familiarity with the man was not reciprocated, he tried to play along, hoping he was successful.

"Indeed, it has been some time now since that day in the Riverlands has it not?" He smiled ruefully at the older Lord's comment about their families, "I do appreciate that Lord Westerling, but I'm afraid that family is not in the cards for me." He stepped forward into the light, more clearly illuminating his cloak, revealing it not to be the gold of the King's Landing city watch, but the pure white of the Kingsguard, and the only thing he wore, in fact, that had no gold ornamentation on it. "My sword, and life, belong now entirely to the King now. It's only by luck and the generosity of the King and Lord Commander that I was able to come and pay a visit to the man who knighted me and never received a proper thanks for it." He shook his head as if trying to dismiss some unwelcome thought, then raised his arms in a gesture that encompassed the whole room. "Your court seems to be quite merry today my Lord, is there something to celebrate?"

OOC: As far as timeline goes, since this would have happened well before the tournament, since Gerold will be back in KL for the tourney. This means Gerold doesn't know that him and Westerling's son are brothers in the Kingsguard yet, to be clear, so for him to have this info Westerling will have to tell him.

Daemon Westerling smiled at the man as he noticed he was a KingsGuard just like his son. His son had recently became a Kingsguard and something the family was proud about. When the boy said that he was selected the whole court celebrated with a small feast. It was the best day of his life to see his son in the Kings guard and also it would allow him to inform his Lord Paramount about what is going on in court. Either way he was a proud father. He looked at the man he knighted and frowned. He could not place a finger on it and it might be because of the drinks he was having. But it would seem the man had forgotten about him and how he saved his life and how he was knighted by him. But still he was glad to see the man as he had never forgotten him. Never forgotten the risk he took to save him and how without him he would be dead.

" We are celebrating well two things really, We are celebrating the coronation of the new king as well as My son becoming a Kings Guard. I am very proud of my son for stepping up and becoming someone that will know protect the king and his family. He did it all on his own he wanted to do something for the realm and well he decided to join the KingsGuard since they had signups. I can not be more proud " He said as he raised his glass in a toast to his son joining the kingsguard. But something did worry him though, He would hate for the boy to die so young, He needed him to serve on the kingsguard for as long as possible. He needed someone to watch over him, someone like the man that stood before him.

" I wish to ask you for a favor my friend. Now that you know that my son is on the KingsGuard. I would like for you to keep watch over him and makes sure he stays out of trouble. Also to keep him out of harms away, I know its his duty to give his life for the king and his family. But i do not want him to die a foolish death if that makes any sense friend " he said in a low voice so the rest of the court did not hear. He looked at the man that saved his life and waited for his response.

"It will be good to have a friend on the Kingsguard, one who I am tied to beyond just the bonds of our oaths. As I am sure you will understand, the King's life must be the first priority of both myself and your son, however, I will ensure that your son's life is my second, as you did a very kind thing by knighting a young man who had no prospects otherwise, and I will look to pay you back any way I can"

Gerold swirled the wine in his cup a little before taking a sip. It was good wine, more, perhaps, than he had expected from such a small castle. He looked up at the old lord once again, feeling genuine remorse for his lapse in memory about the man. He raised his voice once more:

"This is a fine vintage my lord. Tell me a bit more about this place you call home as we dine"
