    Default Longbow Hall

    LONGBOW HALL

The Vale of Arryn was the foothold of the Andals in Westeros, for they landed on its shores before they did somewhere else. House Hunter, however, is of First Men descent, hundreds of years old and they fought by Robar Royce's side; after the later outshot Longbow Hall's lord in an archery contest. Longbow Hall rests near the foothills in the east of the Vale, its lands watered by streams and small, but fast, rivers running into the sea. Covered equally by grazing lands and deep woods bursting with hunt, the dominions of House Hunter are as rich as those of Houses Waynwood or Belmore and field as many men as Houses Hersy and Hardying. Longbow Hall itself is a sturdy castle with a deep moat and a strong curtain wall. The keep is tall and powerful, overlooking the rich farmlands and the small villages and hamlets around the castle.

+2 Duels: While a good swordsman, Hunter is also a fine marksmen and bowman.
+1 Wealth: An able administrator. However, he is rapacious and greedy individual. At the same time he’s a well-known wastrel.
+3 Survival: The sole surviving son of late Lord Harlon and Lady Dean, as strong as his kinsmen of Scorched Vale.
+1 Charisma: Charming, well-connected and powerful.

    BIOGRAPHY:

Descending from the First Men, the Hunters are one of the principal houses sworn to Arryn. Powerful and ancient, the house has ruled for centuries from their seat at Longbow Hall. Harrold is the fifth son of Harlan Hunter, his elder brothers being Eon, William, Robert and Jon, all born from the late lord Hunter and his first wife, Lady Deana Hardying. In an unfortunate row of events Eon and William died before their father with Jon succeeding to the lordship. Lord Jon ruled shortly, for he died during the Blackfyre invasion in the assault to Riverrun; hot-headed and bold he forgot to wear the gorget while overseeing the siege works. A crossbowman shot him, dying after some days of agony. His younger brother and heir was also wounded but survived the siege and the war. Alas, his health had been ruined and, crippled, died some months after Maelys perished in battle against Aerys II. The last and youngest son of Lord Harlan thus inherited the lordship after his brother’s early and fateful demise.

Lord Harrold is a dubious individual, sinfully lustful and impious, wrathful and rapacious. However, he is a charming man and an able administrator of his province, two redeemable traits. He is a rather indecisive and distrustful man, with an almost erratic behavior. Lord Hunter is rather short and slim, his head covered by a curly mane and his face framed by a wispy beard. Hunter's first wife died delivering a stillborn child and Hunter married the second for coin, not love, being a Grafton of Gulltown, one of the wealthiest houses in the Vale. Lady Gella Grafton is a devout and gentle woman, deeply disgusted by her husband’s infidelities and lack of religious zeal. Lord Hunter’s eldest sister was married to Ser Auranne Arryn and thus became mother to Lord Jon Arryn, Warden of the West and Lord of the Vale. She died on childbirth some years ago. Lord Harrold is fiercely protective of his lord and nephew. Currently, his heir is Jeyne Hunter, last child born to late Lord Harrold Hunter and Lady Deana Hardying in 253 AC.

    HOUSEHOLD:

    The Ladies:

    • Lady Deana Hardying (born 212 AC): Old, wise and experienced. Still on the pink. Loves to hunt and has several hounds and hawks.
    • Lady Jeyne Hunter (born 253 AC): Truly young, but wiser than she should. Exerts a moderating influence on Lord Hunter. Unwilling to marry, yet.
    • Lady Gella Grafton (born 238 AC): Increasingly fat and bitter about his fate. Scorned by her husband, she took shelter on the Faith. Lady Gella has an incredibly fat cat called 'Ser Paws'.

    The Bastards:
    • Robar Stone: Rowdy and hard with muscle, straight like a lance. The Ladies' man. A squire at Redfort. Lord Hunter's favorite.
    • Gyles Stone: Sickly and ailing. Unlikely to survive. Best friend of his haf-brother, Hugh. Lady Deana's favorite.
    • Hugh Stone: Thick like a wall, strong like a bull. Best friend of his haf-brother, Gyles. No-one's favorite.
    • Perra Stone: A fair girl with adorable cheeks and dark hair. Pampered and egotistical. Lord Hunter's darling.

    The Servants:
    • Master Wyllis: A lanky Westerlander with dirty blonde hair.
    • Big Bill: A rather short man, old and square. In charge of the stables.
    • Ser Vardis Upcliff: A sinister-looking tall man, former brother-in-law to Lord Harrold.
    • Jon Longbow: Captain of the Hunters' household guard. He claims to be the natural great-grandson of a former Lord Hunter. His claim is dismissed by everyone else.

Lord Harrold was away, with his armies. He had been summoned by Lord Arryn and they were in the battlefront. They were welcomed by Lady Deana Hardying, who wore a rich gown and a elaborate hennin. She sits in a carved chair next to the wooden throne of Hunters in a dais emblazoned with the bundle of arrows.

Eddward Westerling looked at the older lady and bowed his head. His personal guard did the same for they always followed what their Lords did.

" Greetings my Lady, The name is Eddward Westerling of the craq, Son of Lord Daemon Westerling, Heir to the Westerling House and Heir to the Craq. I come before you because of a Raven that was received some hours ago. On behalf of my father I would like to discuss with you possible trade agreement. My First Question is What can Longwood Hall of the vale Offer the Craq ? My Lady " He bowed once more and then stood up straight and waited to see what would be offered. He was not experience with matters such as this.. But he would have to try as he was the next Lord of the Craq and this was one of the duties of the lord.. Making trade agreements with other houses

Lady Hunter, nee Hardying, looked at Westerling quizzically.

    "Seven blessings, Ser Eddward. "

ooc: 1 real life week is a year in-game, so the raven would have been sent weeks ago and also, you would need some weeks to arrive to Longbow Hall from the Crag. So roughly several months passed since I sent you the message.

"Longbow Hall might offer the stone of the Vale, there isn't a better one around the Seven Kingdoms. With such raw materials you might erect walls and keeps as strong as the roots of a mountain. The Vale's quarries produce a wide range of construction material, from a soft marbel to sturdy granite. If you either want to reform your castle or erect new fortification or even a mill our stone is the best you might find, Ser"

Eddward Westerling folded his hands across his chest as he listened. Would his father trade just for stone ?. Stone would allow him to build up the Craq and make it powerful once again. But what would be the cost for trading the stone. Would his father allow someone to trade gold for stone.. He was not sure and it was not like he could ask his father for advice. That would take days or months depending on how fast his men could ride home or how fast a raven could reach him. No he would have to decided right now if this would be a good trade or not.

" That sounds like a fair deal.. And in Exchange the Craq will offer Longwood hall of the vale gold of the westerlands. Although it does not allow one to reform castles and build mills of stone. It does give one the ablity to buy whatever they want to improve there keep or castle or even the lives of your subjects. Gold speak these days as my father says. Gold makes the world a better place in a otherwise hostile world. Does this seem like a fair deal my lady ?. Gold for vale stone ? "

( Trade Agreement is as follows if you accept,
    Craq will trade Gold
    For
    Longbow stone )

( ooc Also Sorry still getting used to all of that stuff. So I have to remember that when a raven is sent it was sent weeks ago and it would take me weeks to get to a location. Although not sure how one calculates the weeks etc )

ooc: Don't worry, you just have to think how it would work in real life. A raven would take severa days to arrive, then you'd prepare to leave for Longbow Hall and cross the whole Vale to arrive here. It would take you weeks by horse. It's easy to figure out, you'll get used to it soon. Also, you don't need to offer me gold as it was conditional, when you trade it's implied is between house A and house B, both offering their trade goods in return.

    Lady Deana nods.

"This is a fair deal, Ser Westerling. Thus, we will begin trade between our seats as soon as posible. Shipments will begin in the earnest, Westerling"

Eddward Westerling Nodded his hand and asked one of his loyal household guards to get the parchment so they could make the trade deal official. As soon as that over Eddward bowed once more before speaking

    "
My lady may I ask that my me and my men be allowed to stay here at Longbow Hall for a few days to rest and relax before our long trip back home ?. It has been sometime since the men had some time to just be men and I would like them to have some rest as well before we head back with the first caravan of vale stone heads to the craq. I shall send a raven back home to inform my father that he is to send the first shipment to longbow Hall " He said in a soft voice.. He needed the rest as well although he was going to the nearest brothel after this meeting and hoping to score tonight.. He could not be outdone by his men after all

"Some chambers shall be prepared for you and your men, Ser Westerling. You might rest for as long as you need before leaving Longbow Hall. If you wish so you shall be granted permissionn to hunt in my son's woods. But be careful with boars, some black ones descended from the mountains and they are too dangerous to hunt on your own or with so litle men as you brought. Still you would find stags and deers aplenty"

Daena raised from her carved chair.

    "Seven blessings"

She wavered a hand dismissing Westerling.

Eddward Westerling and his men nodded their heads and bowed. He and his men would stay for a few days.. His men would take up the ladies offer of going to her sons woods and hunting while he will go to the taverns and brothels and have his fill of woman. Then they will all meet up and head back home. Eddward smiled at the Lady before he and his men turned around and headed for there chambers and a long night of tavern Wrenches. Hopefully none of them will get pregnant.. Or he will have a lot fo explaining to do to his father

A Few days later and a Few Tavern Wrenches... He and his men left Longbow Hall and headed back towards the Craq

A Raven arrives to Longbow Hall from Stonehelm in the Stormlands. It is an invitation from lady Swann to discuss the possibility of trade between two houses.

OOC: by the rules, this raven arrives in about 13 hours from now.

A raven arrives, from the southwest.
If the lady Lorraine Templeton has taken up in your holdfast, you must return her to her family at once. It is time to stop this childish behavior, and come home.

With the war having come to an end and letters from the Eyrie arriving at Longbow Hall, men of House Arryn would deliver at some point the promised sum of 10,000 Dragons as reparations for all Vale Houses.
The same ammount of money would be handed out to all vassals of House Hunter to compensate the loss of men during the previous war.

Lord Hunter lazily sits at the carved throne, placed in a dais in the great hall. His hair is carefully combed, and his beard is oiled and perfumed. Intrigued, he looks at the knight. Next to him stood several men, including a sinester-looking and pale nobleman.

    "Who are you?"

Asked the sinester man with a weasely face. Lord Harrold simply plays with a signal ring.

"Manfred Lothston, sire." Replies the knight, a queer grin etched across his face. Bowing courteously, he steps forward slightly, eyeing Lord Hunter with a relaxed gaze.

"I come in search of employment, for a penniless sword such as myself." Of course, this was not the case, he in fact meant to search the castle for the whereabouts of his quarry.
