    Default Cider Hall

On a sweet, gentle and grassing hill stands the keep of House Fossoway, who claim descent from the legendary hero Foss the Archer. Sitting next to the blessed Mander, the lands of Cider Hall are bountiful and rich, an authentic breadbasket. The lands are reknowned by its vast cider apple tree plantations, to which the keep owes its name. The seat of House Fossoway has been embellished and strenghtened by generations of Lords and Ladies who ruled over the surrounding lands since they first claimed dominion over them. The ruling family, however, is near the brink of extinction, when Aerys II the Mad decided to exterminate the whole Fossoway lineage. Fortunately a member of the main line survived, Raymun Fossoway, orphaned and destitute he lived on Ser Derrick's mercy, until Lord Mace Tyrell decided to restore the house's rule over Cide Hall and its lands.

    BIOGRAPHY:

When Aerys unleashed his wrath over the Reach it fell harder over Cider Hall. House Fossoway was exterminated by royal decree, like Maegor the Cruel had executed the Harroways centuries before. Few managed to escape from the imminent doom: some cousins too distant to be remembered, Derrick, of the Band of Nine, who was far away across the Narrow Sea and Raymun himself. He was merely a boy back then, forcefully spirited away by his parents to prevent his death at the hands of Aerys’ executioners. Timid, red-haired, thin and average in every sense of the word, he found himself at the mercy of the devious and cruel Derrick. The member of the Band of Nine became his warden and Raymun had to suffer abuse, humiliation and the Bad Apple’s legendary moodiness.

Raymun hardened himself under Derrick’s watchful gaze, who trained him brutally in order to become an accomplished rider and duellist. Raymun followed Derrick on their way to King’s Landing and served as his squire during the pitched-battle against Baratheon. With a little relief he watched as the Bad Apple finally met his end at the blades of several Dondarrion men-at-arms. Raymun, in that very moment suddenly realized that finally it was time to restore his house. Cider Hall was his to claim... There wasn’t anyone else to lay such claim after all.

The horse paws the ground, nervous. Raymun stood on the stirrups, some feet before the drawbridge. The gatehouse loomed over him, the portocullis raised like some beastly teeth in a stone mouth. No banners fluttered over the ramparts but a single flag bearing the golden rose. Raymun stares at the drawbridge, motionlessly. He was acompanied by few several riders, two of them Essosi. He wears a quite worn down leathern doublet and tall riding boots.

    "Sire, we should move"

Said Daemon Peake, a fellow exile and the only one Raymun could truly call friend.

    "Raymun... move"

He said. A group of peasants had flockered around, chatering among themselves.

"Isn't he too young? Is he truly a Fossoway?"

Said the miller, a morbidly obese man with a much younger and atractive wife.

"Aye, they say them fossoways up'n returned"

And so he spoke Tom the Trunk, well-known wastrel, quarreller and the village's official fool.

    "Oi, look there, issa lord!"

Said a short man, the swineherd, a most filthy commoner whose features were barely recognizable under all that dirt. He reeks.

"Well the lad has grown up since I saw him the last time; he was barely four feet tall!"

Told another, likely the sheriff, to his fat wife.

    "Aye, aye"

Answered the innkeeper. Across the bridge akwardly waited the castellan, an old gruffy man appointed by Lord Tyrell after Lefford had abandoned the keep. Raymun cleared his throat and gulps, to swallow the bile on his mouth. He nods to Peake and starts crossing the drawbridge, the hooves beating the old wood. Fossoway's horse paws again before finally stopping before the castellan, a man of House Ambrose; the cloak he wore was embroidered with a myriad ants. The old man handed him an old, rusty key.

"Raymun Fossoway: I hand you this and surrender the castle to your Lordship in the name of Lord Mace Tyrell of Highgarden"

He knelt alongside the whole garrison, many of whom were old retainers of Raymun's kin. Raymun held the key on his hand and finally speaks:

"Thanks... House Fossoway is thus restored to its lands and honors. At last!"

He announced. The commoners cheered, carried away by the wide-spread excitement. Raymun had to gulp his tears as he rode under the gateway and into the first courtyard. Soon afterwards banners with red apples fluttered in the ramparts and in the keep...
