    The Holy League

The Holy League are rebel Lords who have raised their banners and remained inside their keeps for the time being, awaiting word on why the armies are summoned. If word reaches them of House Tyrell's intentions to support King Daemon Blackfyre, they will rise in rebellion and aim to gather their forces at Tumbleton, under the command of their most senior figure, Lord Ormund Footly.

As Mace Tyrell has not officially given his support to any contender, and is unlikely to to so soon due to his crippling grief over Moryn Tyrell, these Holy Lords watch and wait, suspicious of their Lord Paramount.

Lord Tarly arrived at the camp with his men, ready to shed some blood. He personally commanded many more men than all the Holy Lords put together, under occupation from Nightsong Tarly had been building up his strength it seemed.

At the war council Mace looked haggard, tired, distant. So far most Lords had arrived, but the Hightowers, Footlys and Fossoways were still not present.

"Some of my vassals are slow to arrive," said Mace bitterly, "this is not the first time the Hightowers have fallen short..."

The bride Lord Hightower had promised had still not materialised. Maybe this army would have to march south...

Hang oath breakers from a high tree with a short rope. Tarly grumbled. They dishonor Highgarden by failing to answer your call, they dishonor the Reach and every lord that has answered.

Just as it seemed like they wouldn't come, a large army, being composed out of Lord Hightower's own forces, his professional soldiers, the militia of his vassals and the Company of the Rose arrive at the camp side.
Given the size by the army, it was an impressive sight, as Hightower's host was of the size of what regulary three High Lords of the Reach were able to muster.

    OOC:
Contact me via message - I completely overlooked this thread, while I thought we wouldn't march anywhere.
Last task I got was to protect Oldtown and the High Septon. Not my fault, if I don't get informed about anything - I have neglected Arryn for a long time and same goes for other chars of mine, so it's always nice to see that not following one call I overlooked gets me marked as a rebell.

You're playing a Lord of the Reach. It's not my job to remind you what threads to read: I posted in the armies thread that I'd called the levies, I made this thread, I waited a whole day to give people the chance to reply. You had ample opportunity.

Sorry Perry now we need to jump forward a bit,but Mace did regard your comment well.

    * * *

"You take your time arriving, Lord Hightower," said Mace angrily at the next council, "were there more pressing matters than your Lord summoning the banners?"

"Given that we were informed lately and the cathedral build at Oldtown having priority, it was unfortunate but a necessary thing", Lord Rolland replied towards the young Lord Paramount, "We fulfilled our task of protecting the High Septon, while we mustered enough men to support you in battle, among them being the Company of the Rose, a mercenary guild from Pentos to whom I have contacts. They have been hired a year ago in light of the recent crisis regarding the capital - so it seems like fortune that we can count on their support for this year and the next year."
He made a brief pause before eyeing his overlord curiously.
"Say, for whom do we ride this time, mylord?"

    OOC:
Because I read the armies thread, lol. I check that only for my own movements, because everyone is posting there - why would I read this?
It was neither announced in my home thread nor via ravens - even if you didn't send me a PM, the reasoning is ridiculous. It's a ing RP into which I already invest more time than I probably should while RPing 2 major houses and 2 side characters with important roles.

So thanks for punishing me for having a RL and giving me no actual chance to find this thread. If you need my army, there were enough ways to tell me, while you nitpick over one single day.Won't give you a time difference anyways, as all I have to do as a HL is to answer your call. Which I did in the movements after I read this thing.
Last edited by Lord Dread; June 26, 2016 at 02:52 AM. Reason: correcting the time the Company of the Rose is present - it's now their second year, not their third

It seems they're getting better at least. Tarly remarked sarcastically. Not a single Hightower banner could be seen when we fought for Maelys.

"And not a single Tarly banner could be seen, when we fought against the Mad King", Lord Rolland replied dry, while wondering what problem Lord Tarly had with the whole thing, "Are we finished with pointless accusations, mylord Tarly, or is there anything else where you wish to insult the honor of my House even further?"
Rolland had not forgotten, that Tarly was the one, who had not accepted his marriage offer - either they were pretty fond of serving the Carons or they felt for some reason that they wanted to insult their influential neighbours. Nothing with which the Lord of Hightower bothered too much, but given the circumstances it seemed like Horn Hill wanted a confrontation with Oldtown.
Yet, this was not of his concern. For now at least

Ooc: it's been near 2 days so we proceed with who is here.

"I made a pact with my uncle Moryn" said Mace, pausing a minute to take a steadying breath, "but he's now dead. I've summoned the armies to protect against Baratheon, who must surely win this war. He will know I meant to declare for blackfyre even if I have not now done so."

Raymun arrives with whatever he could muster. He had to rekindle his vassals loyalties and summon his banners in all haste.

"Our deepest condolences for your uncle", the Lord said after a while, "Few men dared to oppose the tyranny of Aerys and though we lost more men at the walls of King's Landing than expected, he was one of the bravest men I learnt to know, along with Lord Garth. He earns my respect for what he did, while I hoped he would make it alive to Highgarden with the end of the war."
    He paused.
"So it will be a defensive war?", Lord Rolland asked after some thought, "If Blackfyre is unlikely to win, then there is all reasons to be worried. Though I assume he can't blame you and your House for a non-proven support. Given the marriage alliance we promised to your House and which we wish to take place, once we find the time to do so, he will be our enemy if he decides to move against you. The High Septon might support him, but the last time I met with the Faith, he was interested in my opinion. We might not win the war, but Baratheon will neither win anything, if he wishes to subjugate the Reach by force.
Aerys fell for the same mistakes and we know to where his hybris lead."

ing animals! As if they haven't pissed on us enough in this past decade. Tarly slammed his fist into the table. I won't give the Stormlanders an inch. If it comes to it I'll fight them from the Hornwood to the last drop of Tarly blood. The balding bear of a man was livid. They'll be weak after this war and plenty of the Kingdoms will be hesitant to follow.

"Given that Lannister attacked the family of my brother-in-law, it might perhaps be a straw to take, if we seek the direct confrontation with the King and seek to take down one of his followers", Hightower said in reply to Tarly, "Yet, though I am on good terms with the Tullys, they probably wouldn't fight for Blackfyre and probably neither would support us against Baratheon, if we would ask them to do so. Neither I know if they would aid him, thus we should be careful.
I wish to see Horn Hill as well again in the grasp of the Reach, but perhaps there are other ways to aim for it."

We are of the Reach, Nightsong has relieved me of those twisted oaths. I won't see my keep switch hands again. Tarly was not willing to debate the state of his people.

"I will not move against King Baratheon," said Mace in response, "I will guard the Reach. I made an agreement with my uncle, and I regard it as dying with my uncle."

Beside him, Lord Westbrook nodded along. He was of the opinion that Moryn had brought on the wrath of the Seven by tempting Mace into this action, and had convinced him to stand down on the planned move against King Steffon. The Order of the Rose had been left with the Blackfyre army, but Mace had done nothing about that so far. He had only recently began to interact with anyone after the news about his uncle.

"These Lords would simply wait to see why the armies are summoned," protested Westbrook, "It is premature to brand them traitors. A man must balance his duty to earthly authorities and his duty to divine authorities: some of our nobility would see it as an affront to the Seven to take up arms in the name of Blackfyre, which was the rumoured intention of this mobilisation."

I see.. So their duty to Tyrell is second to that Septon in Oldtown. He snorted dismissivly. This sympathy for those not answering the call wouldn't have anything to do with the lack of Westbrook men here?
