    "Are the riders ready?"

"They are, my liege. They have ropes and the horses carry the needed wood to assemble some ladders on the spot, my Lord"

    "Good"

Torches lit the faces, the night was dark.

    "Give the order. Send them"

Quietly the riders were dispatched with Lord Marbrand at its head.

"Give them some margin and then we start moving"

    "Yes sire"

Soon after the whole army was on the move, marching to Riverrun.

ooc: 3,4 hours, cavalry arrives in 2,55 hours.

ooc: Tully arrived long ago, I think. I'd like that time to be timestamped and a battle rolled. I'll send the orders once it's confirmed we fight here.

Lannister army arrived at Riverrun 1800 BST yesterday.

Tully army arrived at Riverrun 0630 BST today.

Frey army arrived at Riverrun 0900 BST today.

Northern army arrive at the Twins at 2300 BST today and Riverrun at 1100 BST tomorrow.

Oz, confirm IC that you're laying siege to Riverrun? You can't do a surprise attack in the manner you wanted to because Riverrun is a "Castle" and thus requires major siege equipment to seize.

As such the Lannister army fights the Tully army. The Frey army then shows up (or retreats, it can do that due to the size difference). The Northern army then shows up.

Lannister had arrived before the walls of Riverrun early in the morning. Dawn was breaking over the sandstone walls when the Westerlander host covered the whole field before the moat. Soon, in a frenzy of activity siege works started, carpenters working on mantlets, ladders, rams and even a siege tower. Cows from nearby villages were slaughtered and skinned, their meat would feed the army and the skins would be used to cover the siege equipment, rams and siege tower to shield them from enemy fire. Infantrymen dig trenches and erect palisades, closing the siege around the Tully's fortress. However, no surrended was asked. Kevan looked at Tywin quizzicaly, both overlooking the works from a nearby hill.

"You are preparing for a siege. But... it seems like you won't actually assault the castle right now"

"We will use those later, Kevan"

    Said Tywin.

"This attack will lure Tully out, leaving the southern Riverlands completely defenseless. Lefford will do whatever he wants without facing any oposition. In the meanwhile we will hammer the trouts on the field"

    "That's... brilliant"

"Did you think I would be so fool to not post some archers to shot down any raven they coud send? But I didn't. I want them to come for us"

    "Aye, sounds like a plan"

    Tywin nodded silently.

"We will have screens of light cavalry to warn us of any enemy approaching Riverrun. In several days Tully will appear, you'll see"

Both unmounted and entered their tent...

The next week an excited rider appeared and knelt before Tywin.

"Lord Lannister, the Tully army is coming"

"Good. Prepare the army in battle order"

Horns and banners awoke the camp and soon the field was burstling with activity. When Tully arrived he found the Lannister army in full battle order, waiting him, with raised banners and shimmering mail.

    "You are mine now, Tully"

Muttered Tywin. He mounted and gestured towards a squire.

"Send word to Lefford. He has no opposition"

Lord Lannister was handed his helm, topped by a roaring lion. His armor was deep crimson, highlighted with gold. From his broad shoulders hung a cloth-of-gold cape.

Two armies faced off outside the walls of Riverrun: a large Lannister host, invading from the west, and a smaller Tully host, hoping to relieve the siege upon their home. The Lannister army was content to maintain their position, ensuring the castle remained besieged and the defenders cut off, while the Tully army sought to force the Lannister host against the moat of Riverrun itself, hoping to crush the foe and drive him into the water to drown.

As it would turn out, it would be the Lannister right, anchored against the river, that broke, while the centre and left held firm and repulsed the Tully forces, despite the presence of an imposing force of Riverland Knights attempting to drive them backwards. The presence of a strong contingent of Westerman cavalry, free to operate in the open spaces off the Lannister left, allowed the Riverlander cavalry to be engaged and prevented from achieving a breakthrough.

Throughout the battle, Lannister forces fighting on the Westerman right find themselves harried by arrow fire from the walls of Riverrun.

The Tully host is compelled to retire as their centre and right break: though the left flank had succeeded in temporarily forcing the Lannister army away from Riverrun itself, this was short lived and the garrison had been instructed to remain behind the walls, lest their sally allow Westerman forces to capitalise on the opening and enter the castle.

The siege on Riverrun would continue.

    638 E Cav
    980 H Cav
    1242 L Cav

Tywin pants as the arrow shaft is pulled out.

"It almost pierced the lung, sire"

The battle had been hard-fought and an errand arrow had felled Tywin from his horse. The maesters use hot wine to cauterize the wound. The flesh hisses and Lannister struggles to not yell.

    "Do what you must"

    He looks to Tygett.

    "Report"

"We lost several thousand men, but for every Westerlander who died two trouts did, brother"

    "Good"

An elderly maester started sewing the wound. Tywin bites his lower lip.

    "Kevan?"

"Badly wounded. Maester Selmon fears for his health. A hard blow to the head. He's comatose, brother"

"With our line of command so weakened we must take defensive positions. We haven't seen the last of these dogs. Dig trenches, erect palisades and fortify this camp. If they come again looking for revenge they shall find a stronghold. They must have more men at their service. Do it... as soon as posible"

Lannister army tends for its wounded but at the same time trenches are excavated and palisades erected. It would offer a good cover in battle and slow the enemy. The trenches' bottom were littered with sharpened stakes and some of them were filled with tar and straw, highly flamable. Braziers were placed every hundred feet. The surrounding villages were pillaged again and great balls of star were hastily prepared, covered in tar and oil. In the meanwhile carpenter kept working on siege works.

Reyne stewed, he'd been disrespected twice now by that thrice damned Lannister. Relegated to guarding the rear.. While that incompetent fool Kevan, got himself knocked unconscious. Hopefully the Stranger would take him soon. He was beginning to see why the Old Lion had hated the Lannisters so. They were arragant and selfish. There had been enough glory to go around.. But Tywin and his brothers needed every drop.

OOC: Edited but you've still been kicking dirt in Reynes face. You didn't let him lead a flank, you implied you want his sister (whom he like likes) to marry the fourth Lannister brother, and you demanded a ward which in this time period is a hostage unless it was Reynes idea. Tywin has spent a special amount of time disrespecting one of his more powerful vassals.
