The Kingdom of Bretonnia is a highly-chivalrous feudal kingdom that lies between the lands of the Grey Mountains and the Great Ocean. Bretonnia is second only in size and military power to that of the Empire of Man, both their chief rival and closest allies, having a culture and society that revolves around the ideals of nobility, social birthright and the upholding of a strictly enforced code of chivalry. Ruled by a Royarch, the nation of Bretonnia has been known throughout the Kingdoms of Man for having the greatest Knights within the entire Old World, rivaling or in some cases even surpassing that of the Knightly Orders of the Empire. A proud and honorable kingdom, the warriors of Bretonnia comprised mostly of Knights and Noblemen, who ride into battle with lance, horse, and sword, seeking out glories and rooting out injustice wherever they go.

Cult of the Lady of the Lake
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Prophetesses of the Lady = Powerful sorceresses of the Cult of the Lady of the Lake. Their magical powers are vastly superior to the lower-ranking Damsels, being much more proficient in harnessing the power of nature using the Lore of Life, Beasts or the Heavens. Perhaps it would suit more if they are the Lore of Heavens as the wiki page says that Damsels cannot follow it, so it would differ them from one another. They have authority enough to use the rare Pegasus for a mount.

    Character Mounts & Bound Monsters
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Bretonnian Warhorse = The horses were big, powerful and not lacking in stamina. The Bretonnian Knights therefore made every effort to maintain and improve their special breed. A very important factor in this was the peace pact with the Wood Elves of Athel Loren. By the terms of this pact, from time to time the Elves allow the Bretonnians to have some of their precious steeds.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi...nnian_Warhorse

Dragon = The youngest Dragons, those born after the reign of Aenarion are known as Sun Dragons in owe of their fiery temper and red scales. Apparently has 'kinship' with Bretonnia according to the appendix chart in Monstrous Arcanum.
    Warhammer Supplement: Monstrous Arcanum
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon

Griffon = A Griffon is a combination of a giant bird of prey and a big cat, such as a lion, or tiger. Griffon's have massive feathered wings, and beaks which are hooked and can easily sever a man's limb. Their claws, which are reminiscent of a hawk's talons, are kept sharp by regular scoring against stone. Griffons appear to be creatures born from the mutating power of Chaos.

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Griffon

Hippogryph = The Hippogryph species inhabit the upper reaches of the Grey Mountains, occasionally prowling the green lands below for prey such as sheep and cattle, although they have also been known to hunt Humans, Greenskins or just about any creature than cannot quickly hide from its vision.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hippogryph

Pegasus = Pegasi (singular pegasus) look like magnificent white draft horses with elegant feathered wings. Their coats sparkle under the sun in a manner reminiscent of light playing over new-fallen snow.

Questing Beast = Shown in the following piece of concept art from a Warhammer event, the art depicts knights (possibly questing or grail knights) riding on the backs of strange beasts that are highly likely to be based on the Questing Beasts of Arthurian legend. For this reason I've included a wiki entry on the questing beasts from mythology for those interested in them.

    Female Only
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Unicorn = Unicorns are drawn to female mages as moths to a flame, and find the taste of magic intoxicating. Most Spellsingers find this an acceptable situation, as a tame Unicorn makes for an excellent steed. Furthermore, the beast’s nature protects its rider against hostile magics, with a devastating spell often resulting in little more than a slightly inebriated and emboldened steed. Apparently has 'kinship' with Bretonnia according to the appendix chart in Monstrous Arcanum.

    Cults of Bretonnia
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The religious spirit of Bretonnia is often as divided as the division between the nobility and peasantry. Within Bretonnian society, the worship of the Lady of the Lake is considered the main religious doctrine. Much of Bretonnian culture is shaped by the actions of the Cult of the Lady, making them a large political power amongst the nobility. However, unlike the worship of other cults, such as the Cult of Sigmar, where Imperial doctrine claims the allegiance of all the Empire's people, the Cult of the Lady is restricted to the nobility.

Although the middle class of freemen commoners are allowed to worship at shrines and temples, they are required to pay a tithe unto the brotherhood maintaining such sites. For the nobility, such tithing is entirely voluntary and the amount dependent upon the noble's generosity. Most tithing's are thus made for show and to establish their social status and reputation amongst the peerage.

Peasants are prohibited from openly worshiping the Lady of the Lake under pain of death or very severe punishment. Instead, the peasantry are allowed and in some cases, forced to worship the Gods of the Old World.

Cult of the Lady of the Lake
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Cult of the Lady of the Lake is a state-official religious cult that serves to follow and uphold the values set upon them by the Lady of the Lake, and to serve the interest of her and the Kingdom of Bretonnia. Since ancient times, the Bretonnians have worshiped the Lady of the Lake as their goddess and their primary deity, a figure of myth and legend who guides their kings and protects their lands from harm.

Each knight was once a stolen boy of Bretonnia grown to powerful maturity and regal stature, garbed in archaic silver armour and wielding a variety of strange mystical weapons, their pale skin had a slight glow and their eyes glittered with the Lady's glory. They burst from a mystical lake, riding upon bestial water-horses which snorted and grunted through dagger like teeth. Their hair rippled, swirling as if underwater and their voices roared in unison, untold years of rage waiting to be unleashed. Scaled warbeasts snapped and kicked and thrashed, hooked flails tore limbs from joints, tridents and spears sent bodies flying through the air.”

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Cult of Manann is most active in Bordeleaux, in fact, they’re the only province that mentioned that it has any worshippers. They focus on practical matters relating to the sea and its members are sought after as navigators, pilots and able-bodied sailors.

    Cult of Myrmidia
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
While the Cult of Myrmidia is growing substantially due to the presence of nearby Estalia. Being a martial God, it is a common theme for peasant soldiers and common militia to revere Myrmidia more than any other deity. The academy is located in the small town attached to Castle Carcassonne. As it is far from court and in a conflict-ridden region, the academy is not fashionable with Bretonnian chivalry. The famously laconic Duke Huebald, a true warleader, values the academy greatly and sends promising squires there for training. Other students are drawn from the younger sons of noble families, the mercenary bands based at the castle, and recruits from Estalia itself.

Knights of the Righteous Spear = ”The Order of the Righteous Spear has several chapterhouses in the Empire, and although many chapters use different names, they are all part of the Righteous Spear order. Each chapter is typically tasked to protect one of the Eagle’s temples, although they also respond to honourable causes as and when they see fit. Because of this, the templars of the order are rarely seen outside of the area they protect.”

Knights of Magritta = Since its establishment this academy has collected intelligence about Estalia and sent periodic reports to Luccini. In fact, the academy has many ties to Estalia, since it’s just across the border. Many caballeros have trained in Carcassonne and the Knights operate several mercenary bands in Estalia to support the academy.

They also hold regular services for expatriate southerners (the specific day varies according to local customs, but is often every five days). These services—normally conducted in Classical, Estalian, or Tilean—are more interactive than most, with the priests actively encouraging others to get involved, asking questions of the congregation.”

Shieldmaidens of Myrmidia = ”The command structure is also central to her teachings, but there are several legends where the Goddess or her Shieldmaidens chose to do what was right, not what they were ordered to. Because of this, although most Myrmidians stick rigidly to orders, they readily ignore them if it will result in a betrayal of their honour.”

    Knights of the Realms
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Bretonnia has some of the finest Knights in the world. The current Bretonnian roster appears to cover the majority of these already, but here are a few that have been missed out.

Crusaders = Though not strictly linking to the time of the game, I thought that perhaps it would be interesting to suggest a regiment of veteran Bretonnian knights who fought down in the southern desert of Araby, trying to cleanse the evil from those lands.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wi..._against_Araby

Feudal Knights = A defunct unit from the 4th edition of Warhammer, could potentially be another bretonnian knightly unit. Found on page 8.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/306333864...Edition-Armies

Foot Knights = "The nobility of Bretonnia is notoriously inflexible in its attitude to warfare - preferring to fight on horseback wherever and whenever possible. However, there are obviously circumstances when this is impossible, and even the flower of chivalry is obliged to fight on foot. Never comfortable in this role, the knights do not fight so well as when mounted, but none-the-less they are easily the best foot soldiers in the Bretonnian army."

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Fay_Enchantress

Knights of Fracasse = Knights who wield flails rather than lance or sword. I’ve made this one up basing it on the magical weapon from the rulebooks called the Morning Star of Fracasse.
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Brettonian_magic_items

Knights of Our Lady of Battle = Otherwise known as Chevaliers de Notre Dame de Bataille, they are an order of knights who sacred banner bears the emblem of ‘Our Lady of Battle’. It is known affectionately by the knightly order as ‘La Femme Fatale’. May equip; Barding, Shields.

Knights of the Glatisant = Not an official name, but the concept art depicts knights riding on Questing Beasts. Questing Beasts come from Arthurian legend, and they were also known as Beast Glatisant. So the name kind of works neatly. I'd assume they're either Questing Knights or Grail Knights, but the image is not clear enough to known for certain.
    https://img.fireden.net/tg/image/146...1260662189.jpg
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Questing_Beast

Knights of the Perilous Lance = Named after a knight of renown who won every joust at every tournament he entered, never revealing his face. I’ve created this unit based on the special hero listed in the 5th edition army book.
    http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/Warha..._(5th_Edition)

Preyton Knights = Assumed by me. These are knights who have taken on the valorous task of hunting down the savage and hateful Preytons in Bretonnia and have succeeded. To commemorate their victory, their helms bear blackened and serrated antlers, quite possibly from the Preyton they slew.
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Preytons

The Black Knight = The Black Knight is an old and well known figure of Bretonnian folklore and legend. In his aspect as something to be dread, he undoubtedly embodies the age old fear of the Chaos Knight, the Dark Elf rider or the Undead horsemen who have plagued Bretonnia since time immemorial. Thus he represents the archetypal adversary of a bold Bretonnian knight. In his less ominous aspect, he represents the anonymous Knight. Such a Knight may wish to disguise his identity under black, shabby robes, lacking any heraldic device by which he might be recognised. Some Questing Knights do indeed adopt such a garb. There is always speculation as to why a Knight should do this, maybe it is because he must redeem his honour, or has he forsaken the true faith?

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Dismounted Knights of the Birth Sword

Knights of the Birth Sword = All male nobles are presented with a fine sword at their birth: it is supposed to be the first thing that they grasp. This sword is then hung above the boy’s bed until he is old enough to train with it. From that point, it rests on a rack beside his bed whilst he sleeps. Most Carcassonnians refuse to fight with any other weapon and do indeed seem to do better whilst holding it. This is only for Carcassonne. The sword is more vital to them than the lance.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Dismounted Knights of the Fleur

    Peasantry
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Adventurers = Almost every single wiki entry for the different dukedoms of Bretonnia has made mention of many peasants running away to become Adventurers in the big wide world beyond, it stands to reason that these may return and fight alongside their armies. I have no idea what they’d be like, I’m guessing a unit of randomly equipped and armed troops, but its up to whoever makes models to do it how they want, I’m just suggesting possibilities.

Arblastiers = They come both from the voluntary Bretonnian township contingents and from the personal retinues of various knights. Wield crossbows, may equip shields.

Masterless and homeless, they have little option but to roam Bretonnia, hiring out their skills to Lords who have need of reliable fighting troops. In this way they take part in countless small wars between rival Lords, sometimes gaining fame, riches or a fearsome reputation." Wield hand weapons. Variants include; Shield, Crossbows, Halberds, Great Weapons, Spears, Spears and Shields. Arquebuses are listed but Bretonnian field armies cannot use firearms.

Deepwatch = It is made up of those too caught-up in the tales of adventure and glory to pay heed to the inherent dangers, or those too desperate to care. The Deepwatch are in essence a guild of professional adventurers, with groups dispatched into the tunnels beneath the city to keep them clear from monsters and stop any creatures from reaching the city. It’s a dangerous job, all right, but somebody has to do it.

Freemen = "A small but growing middle class of commoners, also referred to as Freemen, make up both the professional trades and merchant class within Bretonnian society. Although literate for the most part they can be either self taught, or instructed by monks as there are no public schools within Bretonnia. All education is thus done by private arrangement and comes from the many Grail Monasteries for a steep price. Artisans, craftsmen and skilled semi-professionals live almost exclusively within the Kingdom's few cities and numerous larger towns, situated mostly along the kingdoms coasts and rivers."

Variants include; Hand Weapon and Shield, Spears, Spears and Shields.
    https://i.imgur.com/x8FZ2oT.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Retainers = "These are personal household troops brought along to the battle by the Knights and other Nobles of Bretonnia. They wear the livery of their feudal Lord who may well be one of the Knights fighting elsewhere in the army alongside his brother Knights. Snail Hounds = "The Giant Snail is a peaceable vegetarian with little interest in anything and almost no brain. Few people would attack one. The Bretonnians hunt them during the winter, when the Snails hibernate in the forests around Mousillon. Hunting sleeping snails is an exacting sport, and one for which the famous Bretonnian Snail Hound is superbly adapted: it is said these large, indolent animals can catch the scent of a giant snail from up to a mile away, indicating their excitement by slowly wagging their tails and loping towards their prey. Apart from Bretonnians, who eat them, these creatures are largely left alone, although their shells are sometimes used to make windows, lamp fittings, combs and other small decorative items."

    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Carcassonne

Carcassonnian Shepherds = The People section of the wiki. Hiring mercenaries brings great shame to Bretonnians, but the sheep herds need protection, so the Shepherds are trained to be able to protect themselves but also to band together to harass Orc bands.

The Brethren of the Lighthouse = Very little is said about them, but they are listed under The People section of the below wikipedia page. Magical
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Elementals
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I found these as I was trawling through the different factions, and Bretonnia were listed as a faction capable of fielding these. I expect they'd require Sorceresses or Damsels.

Air Elementals = Has a magical aura that protects it against weapons. It appears as a whirlwind which twists and turns its way across the battlefield. It’s from Citadel Journal.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223078336/Citadel-Journal-13
    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-11.jpg

Death Elementals = The Death Elemental is allied to the elementals of the earth, but represents the negative side of the force; that which reclaims all living things into the bosom of the earth, enabling continual rebirth from the soil.
    https://www.scribd.com/document/1421...on-Compilation
    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-07.jpg

Earth Elementals = Has a magical aura that protects it against weapons. It is a huge statue-like creature composed of rock with smouldering red eyes. It’s the strongest of all elementals but is painfully slow and cumbersome. It’s from Citadel Journal.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/223078336/Citadel-Journal-13
    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-10.jpg

Fire Elementals = Has a magical aura that protects it against weapons. Composed entirely of flames and smoke, they mimic the human form but often have a maniacal grin on their face common to pyromaniacs and arsonists. It’s from Citadel Journal.

    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-09.jpg

Life Elementals = Life Elementals are allied to the Elementals of the Earth. Unlike those, however, they are tall and graceful, as a young tree or a beautiful woman. They are creatures of the growing earth, the motivating force that gives life to plants and plant spirits. As such, they are revered especially by the Elves (presumably High/Wood Elves).

    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-07.jpg

Plague Elementals = This is an elemental of the air. Its arrival can easily be foretold by a foul stench on the breeze, as of rotting flesh or garbage.
    https://www.scribd.com/document/1421...on-Compilation
    http://www.collecting-citadel-miniat...ile:C34-12.jpg

Sea Elemental = Some say that as the ages pass, Triton and his kind slowly become more like the seas they are lord over, turning wilder and less controllable until there is very little to distinguish them from the towering waves and raging storms of the ocean. The Sea Elementals, living mountains of blue-black water that rear out of the water in the barely recognisable shape of a huge man, are perhaps some stage of this process.

Water Elemental = Has a magical aura that protects it against weapons. They take the form of a wave or column of water, they can move across the earth but their home is the water. They’re malevolent spirits with wild and uncontrollable anger. The older it is, the angrier. It’s from Citadel Journal.

War Chateau = Not an official name as there is no official name. At the centre of the image is a war wagon with a lions head and a unicorns horn. This could be considered a war machine of Bretonnia, but I've no idea of its purpose.

    Siege Train
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
"The only realistic solution to breaking massive fortifications is to employ a formidable siege train which includes siege engines of gigantic proportions capable of smashing down the strongest walls, gates and towers quickly. These machines are so huge that they cannot easily be constructed in the field. Instead, they must be manufactured in advance, often in pre-fabricated sections which can be transported in wagons, on ships, or stored until needed in fortresses."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Giant Battering Ram = "The giant battering ram is cut from the tallest and strongest tree in the realm and shod with a massive iron or bronze head. Hundreds of men are needed to pull the ropes that swing the ram to strike a gate or fortress wall. One blow will smash great oak doors like matchwood or crumbles masonry into powder, collapsing towers and walls like sand castles. The hides of a thousand beasts form its canopy, protecting the operators from the arrows of the defenders."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Monstrous Stone Thrower = "This is a catapult operated by a massive counterweight which swings a long shaft and hurls a boulder a very great distance. The huge boulder will smash any ramparts that it strikes. The catapult is made of thick timbers to withstand the stress and strain, but the parts can be transported individually on wagons and are lashed togehter into a catapult in the siege lines."
    https://i.imgur.com/SZ5PSHZ.png White Dwarf 155

The Siege Tower = "Hundreds of wagons are required to carry the pre-fabricated timbers that make up the siege tower, and when these are put together the siege tower will be raised higher than any known wall. Bolt throwers shoot out of port holes on each of its many levels. A drawbridge or spiked corvus is ready on the top of the tower to be dropped on the enemy battlements allowing attackers to swarm across, constantly reinforced by a steam stream of soldiers."

The Mob = Most were masterless, but rightly judged that they stood a better chance of survival by following in Jerrod's wake, than by striking out for themselves in the beastman-haunted landscape. Many a Chaos worshipper had underestimated these peasants, thinking them weak and cowardly.

The Seven Knights = "A Bretonnian troubadour song tells of a heroic battle in which seven gallant knights fought against many times their number of Goblins. The Three Sisters of Ancelious = The Three Sisters of Ancelious were a trio of beautiful Grail Damsel in service to the Lady of the Lake. Evroul did not see his daughters for some ten years after Guerrite's disappearance – not until the Lady sent them to kill him for siding with Mallobaude in the civil war.

During the Crusades, the Chevaliers de Couronne served under King Louen the Righteous. It was this regiment that finally defeated the Palace Guard of Sultan Jaffar in the battle of El Haikk. The king rewarded the Chevalier de Couronne by granting them an enchanted banner of great potency. To this day, the regiment takes this banner with them when they go to war. It has flown over countless battlefields. At times of peace, the banner is kept in the Grail Chapel of Couronne, and guarded by the best Knights under the command of the noble Duke. Buccaneers = Their crews tend to be villainous individuals, lacking the discipline and elan of Corsair crews. Special and Named Characters

Here is contained a full list of every possible Legendary Lord or Legendary Hero that I could find for Bretonnia, excluding those who are long dead or Mousillon who shall eventually be found in the Vampire Counts thread. I have split them into different categories for each Bretonnian Duchy and whether they suit being Lords or Heroes, so it is easier to know which they are best suited to being added to, if someone wished to add them to the game. Also, there are a fair number that I couldn't place into one territory or other, so I guess they'd be free to put wherever someone wanted. Without further ado, here we go.

This is taken from an Unofficial Source, but it seems to be well-researched and was an attempt to update Special Characters from the first few editions of Warhammer, the problem lies with this character being the son of a Duke of Aquitaine called Gilon, but it is possible this is loreful and that Armand was made a Duke instead, as it mentions he was made one by royal appointment.

He is rumoured to have spent much of his time of errantry disguised as a minstrel, rather than fighting like a proper knight. Philippe d’Artaud = ”As a young knight, d’Artaud gave up the keep and lands that were his due in order to quest for the grail. Now, almost 20 years later, this seasoned veteran quests ever still. Long ago, d’Artaud’s faithful steed died in battle, thus this brave knight fights on foot, defends the weak and helpless, and tirelessly seeks The Grail. He was such an inspiration upon the battlefield that those who fought beside him would redouble their efforts, fighting even harder in his noble presence.”

The Green Knight = It was also said that he is the traditional nemesis of a Questing Knight, duelling them to see if they are worthy of the Lady's blessing, thus allowing them to drink from the Grail. He slew many an impure knight, others like Louen Leoncoeur, Calard and Bohemond Beastslayer would prove their worth, or best him in combat, becoming mighty Grail knights.

Viscount d’Alembençon = ”He was a giant of a man, clad in a knight’s full plate. His armour was thicker-set than Helborg’s and looked very old. The outline of a goblet had been graven into the knight’s breastplate, decorated with fine golden tracery and surrounded by an elaborate, oak-leafed halo. For all its age, the armour had obviously been reverently treated – delicate flutes of beaten metal winked in the morning sun, lending the curved steel an almost palpable glow. The warrior wore a close-faced helm, giving nothing of his features away and a beautiful crimson cloak hung from his shoulders, outlined with black and gold lozenges. Once the Viscount had reached Helborg, he drew a mighty longsword which glowed with a faint golden light.”

If he succeeds in his quest, he will probably be one of the very few knights who have seen the Grail with their very own eyes.. Hermit Knight of Malmont = ”No one knows the true name of the Hermit of Malmont, nor the reasons that drove him to live as a recluse. He guards an isolated*Grail Chapel, on the slopes of Malmont, the great peak that overlooks the entire Massif d’Orquemont. Despite his advanced age, he is a still a Grail Knight, and thus a ferocious warrior. The skulls of many*Dragons*lining the path are eloquent testimony to his martial valour. The hermit does not possess a mount: he has no need, since, among the slopes and masses of fallen rocks, only a man on foot could fight. As soon as a dragon captures a maiden, the hermit comes to challenge him in his lair without any fear and no damsel shall be abandoned as a meal to dragonlings as long as he and his powerful sword are in the area.”

Among his achievements is killing a Dereliche and braving Athel Loren without dying. Beldane = ”Beldane would have found the scene unfolding before him amusing if capturing this legendary creature weren’t so damned important. Grimoald = ”Grimoald's warriors charged toward the dark, sweating stone of the tower, their footfalls making wet, sucking sounds in the murky coastal water and sludge that surrounded this evil place. The whole area, so close to Mousillon's corrupting touch, stank of rotting meat.”

Havelock, Slayer of the Jabberwocky = ”Havelock pulled himself up to his full height even though it pained him. Still, he stood against it while his servants cowered behind him like frightened children.” He slew a Jabberwocky.

Tales of the Old World Short Story: Freedom's Home or Glory's Grave

Montyglaive = ”Kneeling beside the fallen warrior, Montyglaive could hear the massive knight's breathing coming in laboured, shallow gasps. The Black Knight's armour was rent and dented in numerous places, as was Montyglaive's own, though the dark knight was in much worse shape. Shards of lacquered wood from Montyglaive's lance protruded from the black armour in a mess of splinters and blood.”

Philibert the Loon = ”The Giant ran straight through the modest rock-and-timber peasant hovel and sent stone, splinters of wood, and a clutch of hens scattering in all directions. Though arrows jutted from its thick hide and crimson gashes laced its legs, the colossus showed no signs of slowing. Instead, it seemed angrier than ever. It was with this anger and considerable forward momentum that the monster bore down on Philibert the Loon. Philibert had already lost his warhorse to the enraged creature. The Giant had unseated him with a wellplaced blow from an uprooted tree and then grabbed his panicking steed with a huge, fleshy hand. With a coarse yell, the Giant tossed the terrified animal out of the village.”

Default Re: Information Thread for Potential New Bretonnian Units

PaulH's Suggested Bretonnian Factional Unit Lists

The following lists are those designed by myself using the units, lords and heroes listed in the first two posts. I cannot claim that they're perfect or that they are varied (as Bretonnians are pretty unvaried, unfortunately), but I've tried to make them all make sense and to feel loreful. In addition to the dukedoms we see in the game, I've added a couple that are missing, as well as a Peasant Rebellion force.

Default Re: Information Thread for Potential New Bretonnian Units

Magical Weapons, Armour, Amulets, Scrolls and Other Items

This section deals in those magical items that can be used by this faction. This is by no means a full list, I doubt I'll ever get that, but it will provide modders with information if they wish to add new magical weapons, armour and items into the game to be used.

    Common Magic Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
If you follow the link below you will find dozens of magical items that are commonly found in the Old World (and beyond).
    https://www.twcenter.net/forums/show...1#post15255257

    Magic Weapons
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Basilisk Blade = ”Even after death the bones of a Basilisk poison the world around them, exuding a foul aura that can putrefy flesh and corrode metal. Weapons fashioned from the rancid bones recovered from Basilisk remains are terrifyingly deadly, but thankfully rare as they are just as deadly to their wielders as they are to their victims.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Birth-sword of Carcassonne = ”At birth, all noble sons in the Dukedom of Carcassonne are made to touch a specially forged blade, and this weapon hangs above their cots until they reach an age when they can wield it. This mirrors the story of the original duke, Lambard, who was said to have grasped a sword even before suckling at his mother’s bosom.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Cold Iron Blade = ”Ancient lore claims that only iron weapons shaped without the use of fire can harm the spirits that infest certain regions of the world. Only the strongest of smiths can perform such a feat, hammering the metal into shape with brute strength before such artefacts are enchanted. Though the results are always crudely shaped, their potency against the ephemeral creatures is unquestionable.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Deliverer = ”"Deliverer", was a blessed blade of exquisite beauty, its polished blade shone with a myriad of light, revealing the name engraved upon it.”
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Sir_Dagobert

Lance of the Quest = The bearer has additional strength on the turn he charges.
    https://i.imgur.com/PVy2nhQ.png White Dwarf 261

Morning Star of Fracasse = ”This mighty morning star has a hatred of magical trickery and unholy artefacts inherited from its first owner, Fracasse Langoustine, the Scourge of Araby. It will entangle and rip a magic weapon from the bands of any foe, unless a spiked orb to the head settles the matter first.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/PVy2nhQ.png White Dwarf 261

Sword of Heroes = ”Henri wielded the*"Sword of Heroes"; The mighty Sword of Heroes has powerful enchantments against evil bound into it. Forged under the midsummer sun and quenched in Manticore's blood, its long and bloody history has seen its wielders kill enough fantastical creatures to fill Leoncoeur's menagerie many times over.”
    http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Henri_le_Massif
    https://i.imgur.com/PVy2nhQ.png White Dwarf 261

Sword of the Lady’s Champion = ”On the eve of battle, a knight that kneels to pray beside a body of still water may be rewarded with the vision of a pale, slender hand emerging from the water, with a beautiful blade gasped within its delicate fingers.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/PVy2nhQ.png White Dwarf 261

Sword of the Quest = ”This large hand-and-a-half sword has been passed down from knight to knight, and has been held by such figures as Percival of Lyonesse and St. Balgar of Carcassonne.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

The Heartwood Lance = ”This lance is crafted from the heart of the Major Oak, the largest tree in Bretonnia, which was shattered by lightning the moment Gilles was struck down. Its blackened wood is covered with tiny carvings depicting the twelve battles of Gilles and, despite being harder than stone and diamond sharp, it is light and beautiful to behold.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

The Lance of Artois = ”This was the lance used by Folgar of Artois, who became one of Gilles’ Grail Companions and was renowned for his skill at the joust. The lance tip remains as sharp as it ever was, despite the passing of time. In times of need, the lance is removed from the Grail Chapel of St. Folgar and bestowed upon a knight for the duration of battle.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

The Lash of Itzaotyl = ”Used by the servants of the Old Ones to subdue the massive beasts that stalked the world at the dawn of time, the ancient Last of Itzaotyl ensnares all it touches with an unbreakable tendril of pure magical essence. Since its theft from the Lizardmen, by the daughters of Naggaroth millennia ago, it has known many masters and current whereabouts are unknown.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

The Silver Lance of the Blessed = ”Forged by Gilles himself, the Silver Lance of the Blesed can only be carried by one who is completely pure of heart. To grasp the lance is said to be the true test of courage and spiritual strength, for an aspirant who is found wanting will be consumed by searing white flames.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

The Wyrmlance = ”Legend has it that the lance of Duke Beligulf Fearnought was plunged into the maw of the dragon Malifex just as it was about to spout a great torrent of flame. It is said to have absorbed the power of a dragon’s breath and, by uttering the name of the slain dragon, the wielder may unleash this fire at will.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

    Magic Armour
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Armour of Agilulf = ”It is believed that the knight Agilulf wore this armour, but in folklore it is claimed that Agilulf never actually existed, and that the armour was possessed by a will of its own. When the knight was slain, if indeed he was alive, the armour was found to be empty, and its shining brilliance gradually faded until it was its current, dark colour.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Armour of Brilliance = Enemies find it harder to hit the wearer of this item.
    https://i.imgur.com/XUyiI64.png White Dwarf 261

Armour of the Midsummer Sun = ”This enchanted armour reflects and magnifies the light of the sun so that beams of light shimmer and burst from every surface as the knight gallops towards his foe.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Blinding Glare Armour = An armour suit that produces a blinding glare
    https://i.imgur.com/b52gcJK.jpg 3rd Ed. Armies Book

Cuirass of Fortune = ”The Cuirass is a remarkable piece of equipment forged by the mad artificer Gurdilloue the Blatantly Insane. Any who possess the armour not only find their blows more accurate, but also enjoy the favour of maidens and oddly generous merchants.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/XUyiI64.png White Dwarf 261

Gilded Cuirass = ”This breastplate is inscribed with the words of the Grail Vow, and even in the brightest sunlight the delicate filigree letters glow. The most grievous of wounds will knit together as the Lady’s favour shines upon the wearer.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Gromril Great Helm = ”This ornate helm was a gift from the Dwarf King Grundbar Irongut after a group of Questing Knights broke a Greenskin siege of Karaz-a-Karak. It bears a potent rune of protection and in its long history has never been so much as tarnished.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Mithril Great Helm = The bearer may re-roll armour saves.
    https://i.imgur.com/XUyiI64.png White Dwarf 261

Orcbane Shield = ”This shield has a huge and bloody maw sculpted to its front, and has become an icon of terror and confusion for the Greenskin tribes that assail Bretonnia.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Scintillating Shield = ”In the ancient legends of Estalia, retold so many times in their origin is now forgotten, heroes would be gifted with shields which were so highly polished they blinded their foes and deflected the deadly gaze of the Basilisks and Cockatrice that were the scourge of that Land in ancient days. Scintillating Shields, whether they be the items spoken of in legend or more recent creations wrought by wizard-craft, fetch a prince’s ransom when rumours of Basilisk or Cockatrice attack spread.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

The Grail Shield = ”The Grail Shield has been blessed by each of the Grail Companions. It is said that its bearer will not grow a day older whilst it is in his possession.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/XUyiI64.png White Dwarf 261

Wyrmscale Armour of the Deep = ”A glistening coat of Merwyrm scales, the enchantment on this armour keeps it coated with a shimmering Layer of briny sea water. Not only do the iron-hard scales deflect sword and arrow, but the scales still recall their home in the icy deeps of the ocean and grant their wearer passage through water and foil fiery assaults upon him.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

    Talismans
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Braid of Bordeleaux = ”Said to be a braid cut from the hair of the god Manann, this was a sacred artefact of the first Duke of Bordeleaux. Its dark hair is entwined with kelp and sea shells, and salt water constantly drips from it. When held in the hand and Manann invoked, the caller is filled with divine energy, though this can be a very draining experience.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Dragon’s Claw = ”Cut from the corpse of the ferocious dragon Malgrimace, the Dragon’s Claw has been scrimshawed by the artisan Ellabeau and enchanted by Damsels of the Lady. It’s bearer can stride through a roaring inferno as if it were a pleasant summer breeze.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/xbQEEvj.png White Dwarf 261

Faithless Charm = ”The degenerate Ettin hill clans have been known to hang these small craven charms in the dismal northern woods, warding away those who would trespass on the Ettin’s miserable existence. Each is an embodiment of the unholy curse that afflicts the very souls of the Ettin. Those foolish enough to carry one with them for any length of time find their senses sharpened - until they lose control and the curse consumes them too.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Holy Relic = "In this age of superstition and religious fanaticism, holy objects are important part of life. Relics abound in the Old World; hairs of Sigmar, pieces from Ulric's hammer, teeth of Daemon Princes, all are sold to men needing encouragement before battle and charms against sorcery."
    https://i.imgur.com/EzPRfhJ.png White Dwarf 227

Insignia of the Quest = ”Those valiant knights who have worn the Insignia of the Quest have almost all gone on to drink from the Grail - the Insignia is then handed down to another Questing Knight to aid him in his deeds.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Mantle of Damsel Elena = ”Legend has it that Elena continued fighting the Orc Warlord Aghdrac even though she had lost her sword, one eye and most of her lifeblood. This mantle is said to retain the heat of Elena’s fiery passion and her indomitable will to succeed despite the most grievous of injuries.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Sirienne’s Locket = ”The damsel Sirienne was as skilled at conventional arts as she was at the art of magic. She gifts her paramours with one of these exquisite protective charms to wear above their heart, with a likeness of the Lady on one half of the locket and her own on the other. The fact that more than one knight claims to own Sirienne’s Locket says more about its creator than its bearer.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

The Mantle of Blood = Any attack that causes multiple wounds against the wearer only causes one.
    https://i.imgur.com/xbQEEvj.png White Dwarf 261

The Pinion of the Phoenix = ”These ephemeral feathers, plucked from the burning wings of a manifested phoenix and woven into a talisman, are preserved by the arts of ancient Elf magic. Handed down through generations of High Elf nobility, they are borne into the direst of battles as badges of honour, swiftly burning away to dust once removed from their protective caves. While they last they protect their bearer from harm, and should he fall grant him a fiery reprieve from death.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

Token of the Damsel = ”On the eve of battle, noblewomen often give their favoured knight a token of their support, such as a lock of hair, a ribbon or a brooch. The knight will carry these tokens with him, giving him strength in his time of need. Tokens given by damsels often carry powerful enchantments.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Warpscale Pendant = ”Crafted from the deformed scales of a Warpfire Dragon, these eerily worked talismans are the product not of twisted Skaven ingenuity as some suspect but rather of some unseen agency believed to be connected to the ruling cabals of the Tilean City-states. Ensorcelled to protect the wearer against weapons fuelled by warpstone, many Skaven wizards covet such items as a measure against assassination by their own kind - though the fear Warpfire Dragon’s cause among the warpstone-laden holds of the Skaven keeps them rare.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...V96TFBvQ1dNZGc Monstrous Arcanum

    Enchanted Items
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Antlers of the Great Hunt = ”The Knight’s helm is adorned with a splendid set of antlers taken from the quarry of a great hunt, slain by the knight himself. The antlers denote exceptional prowess as a horseman and hunter, and bestow virility and long life.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Chalice of Chanterelle = A fabled healing chalice. "This is the only artefact that really is Bretonnian although the Wood Elves do not know this. It gleams and appears very precious and magical, which it is."
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/225409356...ous-quest-1997

Falcon-horn of Fredemund = ”This ancient horn was used by the Grail Companion, Duke Fredemund of Aquitaine. When blown, this horn emits a piercing cry, and the skies become filled with all manner of birds, in memory of the great man.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Gauntlet of the Duel = ”When cast down, this enchanted gauntlet can magnify even the tiniest scrap of pride or conceit into a surge of righteous self-belief. Even Skaven have been known to join the bearer in honourable combat (with predictable results).”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book

Holy Icon = ”This priceless triptych depicts the aspects of the Lady and incorporates the heraldry of Bretonnia. Any under the auspices of this artefact find themselves imbued with faith and become practically immune to hostile magic.”
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...290REo2Nmc1U1E Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnian 6th Edition Army Book
    https://i.imgur.com/xbQEEvj.png White Dwarf 261

The Garter of Melisande = From the Perilous Quest expansion. May reroll save once in joust.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/225409356...ous-quest-1997

The Girdle of Melisande = From the Perilous Quest expansion. The knight strikes before his opponent.
    https://www.scribd.com/doc/225409356...ous-quest-1997

Blade of Last Resort = ”This sword has ever had a twisted sense of humour, seeking out overmatched heroes and aiding them against a chosen foe. Dodecahedron of Continental Drift = ”Said to have been left behind by the Old Ones, this peculiar object can be used to remake the world. Each alteration to the Dodecahedron’s external matrix is reflected on the land around the user. Its ill-considered use can easily prove catastrophic…”

Fozzrik’s Floating Fortress = ”Though Fozzrik’s magical aptitude led him to become a wizard, he never lost his love for architecture. Many of the Old World’s cities have been built around immaculate structures that Fozzrik created from stone and sorcery, but more prized by far are his floating fortresses - buildings that move under their own power and sprout defences to repel intruders.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Woodwaker’s Wand = ”Once upon a time, all the woods in the world were linked. Some say this great forest was alive, in a curious sort of way, and that every tree that now grows retains a portion of its vigour and intelligence just waiting to be revived.”

Living Deadwood Staff = ”Arboreonecromancy is a little-practiced branch of wizardry - any mystic crazed enough to attempt it normally transfers his attentions back to raising zombies and skeletons, rather than undead trees. However, legends tell of the Archmage Sycamo, ‘The Daemon Carpenter of Estalia’, who not only perfected a method of reanimating trees from their residual elements, but also filling them with astounding vigour. Much of Sycamo’s work has, fortunately, been lost to the intervening aeons, but the Living Deadwood Staff never stays missing for long…”

Giantkin Helm = ”After constantly being told ‘We expect big things from you’ by his Elector Count father, Heinrich von Roth spent much of the family fortune commissioning an artefact that would help him achieve greatness. Alas, he was to learn that when dealing with wizards, precision of diction is just as important as largesse of payment.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Windcatcher Prism = ”This peculiar bauble was crafted long ago, its purpose very much tied to storms of magic. Rockcharmer’s Flute = ”Androgast Gildheim was the first man in the Empire to master this granite flute, but its origins lie hidden in the mists of time. Some say that the Rockcharmer’s Flute was used to destroy the old Dwarfen realms, others that it sank the fabled realm of Seidon. However, the most popular tale concerns a drunken Halfling, the Rockcharmer’s Flute, a jug of lamp oil, a plate of sausages and the accidental creation of the Grey Mountains.”

Wyssan’s Weighted Dice = ”This set of weighted dice is one amongst many forged by Arctovian Wyssan over the course of a long and (unsurprisingly) successful wagering career. At the bearer’s command, these skull-marked cubes play havoc with the laws of causality; turning certainty into bleak misfortune.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Arabyan Puzzlebox = ”This elegantly crafted container houses many hundreds of glittering gemstones, each with the power to harness the Winds of Magic if used in the correct manner. Alas, the user can never truly be sure that the compartment he has opened will contain the gems he needed.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Black Book of Ibn Naggazar = ”Ibn Naggazar was a brilliant, if somewhat maniacal, Arabyan sorcerer. Whilst it is unknown whether his madness sprang from isolation, too many attempts at creating intoxicating ‘elixirs’ or the honeyed promises of whispering Daemons, there can be no doubt that he was utterly insane. No rational wizard would create a book inked on the skin of his closest family, much less constantly follow its advice.”
    https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...WhndVE0VklZZDA Storm of Magic

Silverstone Axe = ”In the ancient barrows that dot the Empire, huge enchanted axes forged of gromril, known to ancient men as Silverstone, have been found. Inert until the storms of magic howl, these axes are so heavy that only the strongest warriors can lift them and then impact shakes the ground, knocking armoured warriors from their feet while against wizards their effects are even more potent as the winds of magic lash and recoil at their blows. When a storm of magic rages these weapons are brought to the battlefield once again to bring down the titanic beasts set loose upon the world.” - Magic Weapon

The Crucible of Horrors = ”No one knows from whence the Crucible of Horrors came, but contained within the flash of twisted meteoric iron is a vortex of seething black energy which screams like the torment of damned souls. This deadly artefact has been sought out by many down the centuries, and it has passed through the hands of many tyrants, arch-sorcerers, wizards and kings, and at its use the destruction of cities and slaughter of armies has been laid. When unleashed the power of the crucible is erratic and dangerously unstable, but it can unleash devastation and even create nightmarish doppelgangers of slain monsters to fight at the wielder’s bidding. The power of the Crucible of Horrors is treacherous however, as more than one would be conqueror has found to their cost.” - Enchanted Items

The White Sistrum = ”There are many night-haunted legends originating from the foetid jungles and deadly wastes of the far hinterlands of Khuresh. Stories abound of the dread Snake Men and the foul and nightmarish Blood Naga queens who rule there, and it is a realm where men are no more than hunted prey, and blood and souls are the only coin in trade. Rarely do artefacts of this fell civilisation reach the Old World and all are steeped in blood and misunderstood power. One such artefact is the White Sistrum, a strange ivory-grown, drum shaped like an hourglass, whose discordant music brings madness and death, and evokes the terrible rites of the Naga.” - Arcane Item

    Lore Information Regarding Bretonnia

When a series is being continuously updated for a quarter of a century there is bound to be a massive amount of lore that has been created for it. This is an attempt to collate important snippets of lore that I have found during my research into units. I am presenting these in note form rather than in quote form due to the sheer amount of information that is potentially able to be displayed here, but I hope that it will prove useful or interesting to you regardless.

    General Information
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Knights are sworn to help peasants in need. They don’t always do so.
Tales of the Old World: Faith

    - The Giant Snail is a peaceable vegetarian with little interest in anything and almost no brain. Few people would attack one.
    - The Bretonnians hunt them during the winter, when the Snails hibernate in the forests around Mousillon.
    - Hunting sleeping snails is an exacting sport, and one for which the famous Bretonnian Snail Hound is superbly adapted.
    - It is said these large, indolent animals can catch the scent of a giant snail from up to a mile away, indicating their excitement by slowly wagging their tails and loping towards their prey.
    - Bretonnians eat Giant Snails.

    Castle Quenelles, Duchy Capital
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    - Quenelles has a renowned tourney field, something to consider for a building.
    - Quenelles has a Castellan who orders soldiers around, its entirely plausible for other areas to have the same
    - At least four times a year Quenelles holds a splendid tourney. Often these offer holy relics as prizes, leading to greater numbers of Questing Knights taking part than anywhere else in Bretonnia.
    - When there are no wars on, they occupy themselves with tourneys.
    - The Black Knight protects the sacred item that is given as a prize in tourneys. They also act as champions for Ducs

    - Armies often carry the bones of revered individuals in caskets forming part of a special war altar
    - These are carried right to the fighting, so that troops might look upon and be inspired by the great saints and heroes of the past

    - All over the Old World, knights look to the Bretonnians as a model of chivalry and knightly virtue.
    - It is universally accepted that the knights of Bretonnia represent the pinnacle of the warrior-ideal.
    - In battle against other Old Worlders the Bretonnian Knight is magnanimous to noble captives, courteous to the defeated and generous in victory.
    - War presents the Bretonnian Knight a chance to prove his mettle, to gain honour and further the ideal of knighthood.
    - This idyllic attitude to conflict doesn’t always work in their favour.
    - They are too eager to joust enemy nobles and ignorant of the effect it has on the battle around them.
    - Infantry is regarded as low-bred and unworthy.
    - Their epic poems rarely mention the grunt work done on the battlefield by infantry.
    - Battle standards are often very ornate and romantic.
    - Amongst the rather self-conscious nobility fashion changes all the time. Few would be boorish enough to enter the field of honour with an out of date standard.

    - The noblest knights of all are the Chevaliers d’Honneur. They are personal friends and supporters of the King.

    - Before a battle the Bretonnian Knights kneel and pray to the Lady of the Lake, avowing to fight to the death for honor and justice.
    - Mists of magic seep from the ground in response to the Bretonnians' affirmation of faith.
    - Enemies watch with dread as sunlight breaks through the clouds and an otherworldly chorus stirs from the earth itself.
    - The Lady's blessing takes the form of a powerful curse upon the enemies of chivalry, particularly those who made use of foul and dishonourable weapons of mass destruction.
