    Default Proposal/Discussion

Alright, so there's been some idle chatter about time skips (not that one is going to happen at all) and it is usually in connection to waiting for children to grow up. I was thinking about the possibility of kids under 12 aging at double the rate. So, 2,4,6,8,10. Essentially within five turns, the kid can more or less do something based on the Criston Tully standard of 14 year olds actually being able to do something productive. Maybe it could be an opt in acceleration? Thoughts?

Hmm, as much as this sounds cool, imo it would feel weird in context of RP.
Like we actually refer to the years as stuff happening in the years and as well stuff regarding the children.

So, it really would be weird. Especially when you consider that someone like Jon Arryn would be equal in age with for example my Gerold Hightower, who was born 8 years ago, going by this rule.
And then you would have to rework the ages of everyone to make it fair. ^^

Its certainly something to consider. Or perhaps when the years start to slow down, have one week IRL equate two years instead of just one

Rather would sympathesize with this one. Though it would be on the mods to decide this one.

That's a good point I hadn't considered. Maybe if you opt in the character stays aged 15 for a while? (as in he couldn't like become an official knight?)

I don't think the game is slowing down. I don't think we need a time skip right now in any sense of the word. The discussion about kids aging just came up in that context.

No I meant after the immediate conflict is resolved, for example, and we want our younger characters to age, then we can have two years pass per week instead of one. Wouldn't be so much a time skip as characters aging faster than normal.

Oh right, I get you. Sounds reasonable to me

I've got some important characters (one to me and one to the game at large ) getting up there in age. So I wouldn't really before this. A time skip however could push things forward after current wars are resolved.

In my experience, time skips completely kill games

Yeah I don't really like that idea so much. I wouldn't advocate a timeskip unless basically like half of the playerbase kill off their main characters during a war against each other, leaving them all with just children and regencies.

Though I can see the use in aging children faster, it would be awkward to deal with in a chronological sense.
"Born in 210. It's now 215. The kid is 10." Wait, what?

I am not proposing a time skip

This idea sounds hugely immersion breaking. A character that had a baby at 18 gets a 16 year old adult child at 26? Not workable.
