Yeah I adjusted the texture to better fit with my new armor textures the unit has but sly did a superb job with this horse armor model itself .

I think regional mercenaries should be planned as well for the future, along with AOR.

Great looking units. Love the look of the new Jousting-style lances.

For multiplayer balance I'd encurage you to make mercenaries less than cost-effective. To discourage every faction bringing mercenaries aplenty to overcome their weaknesses. For example eastern factions with sub-par pole weapon infantry being filled with swiss pikemen and halbadiers or Sweden owning the cav game with german knights (Although that would be very historical)

So if they cost a bit more than they are worth (As in more than faction-specific comparable units) then the faction retains a bit of its flavor since you cannot rely on mercenaries to win the battle, but they can help overcoming a disadvantage.

Mercenaries shouldn't even be playable in costume battle, unless they are hireable in the region of the chosen faction. Similarly to how it was done in Med 2.

That can be dealt with giving mercs custom battle unit cap. Also, custom battle cost and campaign cost are two different things.

I agree with this. I'm all for having as many units available for Custom Battles as possible, since that's where I personally spend most of my time (preferring the ability to quickly jump in, get some battle action, and jump out). Having them unit capped keeps them present but prevents them being a crutch.

Caps would do some work. I still say making them less cost-effective than equivalent faction units is a better way to preserve the uniqueness of a lot of the factions. Even if you capped German Knights at two, its still going to go a long way to make up for Sweden or Scotland's lack of super-elite cav. Having them cost more makes more sense to me. Mercenaries should not be a go-to unit, they should be a last resort and they should cost imo.

Not having them in custom battle is out of the question. The game don't even have a campaign yet

*Googles Medieval slabes. Finds nothing. Looks down at the keyboard, see that b and v are located close together. Nods slowly in a confirming manner.*

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.
